Help finding the headlight retractor diode

Featured Replies

1988 Subaru XT6. FSM shows a headlight retractor diode but isn't helpful in locating it.

I NEED to find this thing, anyone have a clue?

I don't even know what i'm looking for, like what this thing will look like, is it indepedent, or part of something else?

Where did you find the diode, in the FSM schematic?

EDIT

Ok, I just looked in the FSM. I bet its in the timer. Theres a bracket by the drivers side strut tower that holds 3 units.

One is the timer, the other 2 are the relays. From the looks of it, the timer is the biggest and its square.

I finally found it - it's in the FSM in the part where it shows all the labelled connector placements. The diode is wrapped up in a large wiring harness stuffed behind the fuse panel, it's not looking easy to get too. I'll hack the parts car to find out.

I'll check those jokers out rob, that's not where I thought the timer was, i'm not even sure what it looks like now.

The only other thing I haven't replaced is the high beam switch, but I'm highly doubtful that would keep the headlights from retracting no matter what state that is in.
