Does anyone have any info on the proper procedure for a timing belt tensioner replacement? I know there is a unique oiling procedure and I'd like to know how. Thanks!

Syringe is what I use. Little hole at the top.

i've never done anything to them as far as oiling. always had at least one XT6 as a daily driver for about 15 years, put many hundreds of thousands of miles on them through countless timing belt changes with no problems.

 

i've never seen one of those tensioners fail either personally, here on USMB or on the subaruxt.com forum. the overwhelming evidence points to almost a zero probability of having issues with it either way. so there's nothing to worry about.

if so, what else could make that idler release tension? I'm removing the tensioner this weekend. I'll take pictures and document my findings for the site.
