August 27, 200916 yr I have a 1991 loyale sedan. its fwd and I plan on swapingg a awd drivetrain eventually. in the meantime im wanting to bring the car back to life a little with some new struts...am I still gonna be able to use the same struts?...
August 27, 200916 yr yes. although 2WD and 4WD rear struts are a bit longer, they are interchangebale.
August 27, 200916 yr Author yes. although 2WD and 4WD rear struts are a bit longer, they are interchangebale. ok...I'm not going for offroad so you're saying I should stick to the 2wd struts. Do the KYB Gr2 strutts differ in length depending on what application you order?
August 27, 200916 yr I think there is a difference with the 2wd and 4wd front struts. Aren't the front 2wd's longer (from the spring seat down) by 1.5" or so?
August 30, 200916 yr mounting points are identical, lengths are not. FWD front struts are a bit shorter than 4WD ones. the rear is the exact opposite, and by quite a bit, because the mounting point on the trailing arm is quite a bit lower. even though the FWD ride height is lower, the FWD rear struts are noticeably longer than the 4WD ones. that said, if you're planning on converting, get what you want to have after the conversion, which would presumably be all 4WD parts (a pair of FWD rear struts would give you about 1.5-2" of lift in the rear.....), and rock them with the FWD stuff.
