what terms can i search to find the writeup on how to do a fuel injection swap on the ea81. I found a turbo loyale with the parts to convert my 85 brat to fuel injection. Now i just need to know how. thanks.

But you can't use any of the turbo parts for the swap. That's a completely different system and requires the MPFI EA82 heads with dual intake ports. EA81's never had heads like this.

I figured out the reason for my confusion, this was not the ea82 turbo setup that i thought it was. The donor car is a 1983 turbo ea81 4 door loyale. I am curious why this type of FI conversion is not more prevalent? Is it harder? less reliable? other issues?

EA81 turbo's have different heads as well. The injectors are mounted directly on the head.

 

Besides that the system is very primitive and parts are very difficult to find.

 

If you wanted to swap the heads I suppose you could probably make it work. But the ECU is tuned for a 7.7:1 compression ratio and forced induction. You would be better off just using the heads for the injector bosses and then mounting an EA82 SPFI manifold for the TB and using MegaSquirt to run it.
