Do I need any kind of sealant for Valve Cover Gaskets?

Recommended Posts

I'm about to replace the psgr side Valve Cover gasket on my 85 Wagon and I was wondering, do I need any kind of sealant for the gasket? It's not a typical gakset (it's a rubber ring) so I figured it wouldnt need sealant. Any tips I should know before doing this?

Also, Tex, if you read this while at work, are you still down for helping me do my wheel bearings tonight?

My damn mother decided it was the perfect time to start cleaning the attic. So there is **** everywhere.

I'm not even bothering to work on the RX, probally be May before I get it running again. Should probally just sell it to someone that can work on it.

Gee, thanks for the help guys, I just finished the job :-P

Ugh, now I gotta do the drivers side one sometime. It's BARELY leaking from there, but it's a bitch to get to so I dont wanna do it now.

Tex, If you think we can push the stuff out of the way to get the nose of my car in the garage... I'd really like to get those done tonight. I dont work tomorrow so it's a perfect time.
