finished the subaru emblem last night:headbang:taped the stars off (huge pain) and all the chrome plated stuff then paint it navy blue with a clear coat so hopfuly i never have to do it again pics later today

Add to that I have spent $2000 on a car I bought for $400, lol.

between buying 5 brats and parts/paint my dad and i are only in around $2500:D

finished taping took like 2 hours

FYI to save yourself all those hours of using tape to mask:

Use this on everything. Painted tons of rc bodies with this stuff. It leaves no residue and cuts very well. I highly recommend it and save you the time.

Available at hobby shops.

some progress on the 4wd emblem yesterday/today used bondo to make the letters will look great once im done also i dont care if anyone copies what i've done because it makes subaru last longer and look better:cool:

Wow nice. Creative way of thinking how to restore that. Im amazed.... Bondo who would of thought. Keep up the great work and keep those pics coming. Might have to send you mine and pay you to redo it!!!

Nice work. I'm soo jealous. picked up an'86 that is pristine, but would kill for a roll bar and a pair of seats just cant seem to find any. keep at it !

yep:cool:alot of people are, have roll bars and jump seats for my dads 79 brat and my 85 brat:D, there rare even here in oregon hope u can find them and keep your brat rust free, its a challenge to get rid rust once it starts even where the roads don't get salted, my 85's going to get the third eye setup sometime i just bought the grill, third eye(passing lamp, off road light, scyclopse, ect.) ,and bezals:headbang: also i got new tail lights:Donly for $150, your going to be jealous when i get my brush guard setup like i want on my 85 and the factory brush guard for the 79 brat

yah its nice wish it was outside this week though it was hotter than hell in there it was over 110f! and it was about 100f-to mid 90'ds, but love it during winter because its like always 70f even when its snowing:D

i want. i have had to fix the ol plow truck in the middle of winter with three feet of snow on the ground trying to do a wheel bearing outside temp well below freezing. a building like that would be wonderfull.

^ lol ever pinch your fingers when they are frozen outside in the winter?

lol yes many times, the worst part is when you can't where gloves because you are starting a nut on threads and your fingers freeze to the metal.

major pick update getting ready for priming and painting also moved her to another green house to prevent offspray im going to paint the the engine compartment to:brow:

where it was

mostly apart now







most of the engine compartment apart/before washing

after washing and taking apart the engine compartment the rest im going to cover and tape





perfect time for ej swap right:lol: but staying with stock engine to keep original its going to look great once painted and put back together and done;)

not sure yet but think my dad wants it green but the green we bought is really dark so might pick out another color or mix in white to make it lighter and need to pick up some more primer first

So did you paint yet?? Hope you stuck with the original brown color. I like that color for some odd reason.. Keep us posted please....

haven't primed or painted it yet went back to school this week so very tired and haven't even got to touch it

have done much to it besides clean the gas take out with a steam washer(it has sat for 16 years) and fixed the triangle pieces with jb-weld see pics
