yortyarg
Thetransmissiona and engine are rebuilds, 30,000 miles on each. RResently and randomly the a.t. light comes on then car lurches forward well driveing after about 40 miles. Shut it down let it sit for 1 to 5 minutes good Togo. Fluid is normal level, cooler seems good. It also runs rough when your at a stop light with the brake depressed. At a stop light if I shift it into neutral rpm drop about 200rpm. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Edited October 23, 2014 by yortyarg
1 Lucky Texan
everything's been good for 30.000 miles and these symptoms just started recently? vibration in gear at idle is very often aftermarket axles. very well known complaint. How old is the AT fluid? You're checking the level while idling on level ground? Usually, a good first try at AT problems for a DIYer is 2-3 drain/fill/drive briefly/repeat cycles. You get about 85-90% fresh fluid with 3 drain/fills. Some people have had luck with Trans-X or similar additives. but 30K seems early to have a problem based on bad fluid. idosubaru
does the AT light flash 16 times at start up? ideally you try to access any codes stored by the TCU. find the handshake procedure and see if you can get it to work. why was the transmission rebuilt - what happened to it the first time? is the transmission pan dented or deformed at all? was the transmission filter replaced ever - after the first rebuild? yortyarg
The trans fluid has approximately 30,000 miles on it, no the a.t. light does not blink 16 times, no dents in the pan, they better have changed the filter, yes I do check the fluid at idle and on level surface. yortyarg
Transmission was rebuilt because of oil leaks and wanted to match the rebuilt engine and transmission with same miles from the get go
