dp213 Posted May 30, 2017 Share Posted May 30, 2017 On my 99 outback the key sometimes won't come out of the ignition. I had a new key made by the dealer with the vin and it still did it. I then replaced the ignition itself (as in the key and tumbler part.) It still does it sometimes. I am stumped, any thoughts? 1 Lucky Texan Posted May 30, 2017 Share Posted May 30, 2017 do you park with the wheels turned at an angle, and possibly on a slope? all cars can sometimes need some 'counter pressure' applied to the steering wheel to take some friction off the locking mechanism. Gloyale Posted May 30, 2017 Share Posted May 30, 2017 Could be the interlock with the auto trans. Not recognizing that car is in "P" or not disengaging if it is recognizing.
