  1. driving around in forest, saw some cool rock there, all wet and slippery, wonder could i drove on top of it , would be cool photo of that maybe, what could go wrong and of courese i droped down over it . and couldnt move from there at all. and im alone in middle of forest. good thing i have that hi lift jack , it was just couple minutes to lift all front of car and put some rocks and planks under wheels , lower car and drove back and then have some more fun there and my little test again on VDC and after its dig up down i tried with VDC ON and 2nd gear. 2nd gear works little better as its tries to spin wheels even less then on D or 1st gear.
  2. This will be a very unpopular opinion but I feel actual pain that another mid-80s will become a FrankenSube. There will soon be, or already are, none left intact. Which makes those that are all the more valuable. If there are any.

No. And that's incredibly stupid. The 2.5 in the 2008 is a great engine. The 2.2 hasn't got the torque to pull that pig. GD
  4. It's a combination of 2.0 and 2.5 parts.... thus a hybrid of the two. Cost is typically $6k to $8k depending on many factors. Of course that's "typical". I have customers with over $20k into their drivetrain. Usually making well beyond 500 HP of course. GD

Yep. Stolen. Happens all the time. GD
  6. I would search for a local Subaru Parts group on Facebook. There is one in Colorado, that I sourced my shortblock for $200. Guys with imprezas or RSs are always looking to get rid of the SOHC 2.5 so they can go turbo. The STI headgaskets are the same price as the regular MLS. It's not that exotic. Everything else is the same. The normal EJ25d drops out by 4500 rpm. The EJ251/D hybrid is power all the way to 6k. I'm not even using headers or any larger diameter exhaust. Fuel economy is basically the same depending on how heavy your foot is. If the transmission fails, get another high mileage one for dirt cheap. I've not seen a subaru with a blown rear diff. The universal/carrier bearing can blow, but your car is just getting broken in at that mileage. Cars are toilets for money to be thrown into, no matter how new they are.
  7. If you can:: refurbish the heads, find an EJ251 block from an early 2000s, 04-06 STI MLS headgaskets. I'm a poor college student, and it was WELL worth it. I think this motor should have been the stock option. Greg
