I was looking at my heads to day and they say EA82 underlined. The block has EA82 with a box around it. Does that mean I have a gen. 3 block with gen. 2 heads?

What are the pros and cons of cutting the bottom of the air intake box out?

I didn't think of looking in my repair manual. I know how to do it now, but can someone tell me where the cold start valve is so I can disconnect it?

I saw a thread on here before on how to ckeck the compression. I can't seem to find it now. Can someone give me the link to it? My uncle gave me a snap-on compression checker so i'm gunna use it.

Why do some people say that using premium in a turbo suby is better, and others say regular is? What do people on here use? I konw it depends on how moded a engine is. My EA82T is complety stock and my owners manual says to use 87. I use the cheapest I can find. Never below 87. I've also heard 87 in the U.S. is like 91 in other countries. If that is true i'm all ready using almost premium.

I got the engine back in and hooked everything up! BIG difference between the auto and 5-spd. When I started it up and drove it there was a lot of smoke, it stoped after awhile. Is that normal?

I mean is there a bearing that goes in the little hole in the crankshaft? I don't think there is just wanted to make sure before I put the engine back in. -

I got the broken piece out! Is there a bearing that should go in there like in the flywheel or not? -

If that doesn't work could I use a drill bit a little smaller than the shaft to drill it out? -
Torque Converter Question

That means the shaft on my torque convertor is broken off in the crankshaft. I think thats why when I put the manual tranny in, it seemed like the clutch would not disengage. Got any ideas on how to get the broken piece out of the crankshaft? -
Should there be a shaft sticking out of the back of the torque converter that fits into the crankshaft? Torque Converter http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=10295&cat=500&ppuser=14202 Crankshaft http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=10296&cat=500&ppuser=14202

Is there suppose to be a little shaft sticking out of the back of the torque converter the inserts into the crankshaft? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=10295&cat=500&ppuser=14202 It kinda looks like there should be but got broken off. It looks like the input shaft on the transmission was up agnist it, would that make it seem like the clutch is not disengaging? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=10296&cat=500&ppuser=14202

Can anyone tell me how thick the clutch should be?

When I got my Touring wagon it had the motion alloys.

Now I feel retarded. It wasn't in backwards, everything was in the right way. Any ideas what could be wrong?
-
I took the engine out today and the clutch disc WAS in backwards. If there is no visable damage could i still use it with out any problems ??
-
The auto didn't have one but the 5spd I got does.
-
When the pedal isn't being pressed down there is no play at all. I have the cable adjusted the cable back so it is holding the fork back some already.
-
I didn't put the pressure plate in backwards and the clutch disc is in the right way. I read in the manual about making sure the 0 marks are at least 120 degrees apart. I kinda forgot that part. What is the pourpose of this and could it be the reason for the clutch not disengaging all of the way?

I have an 89 GL-10 Touring wagon. Its was a fulltime AWD auto but now is a fulltime AWD 5-spd. It had the air struts on it but I replaced them with regular ones. Mine had a manual sunroof too. I have some pictures of it in the photo part of this site.

he thinks he put the pressure plate in wrong which means he has to take the engine back out and re do it .. which will prolly take forever
