  1. transmission fluid is more of a coolant than a lubricant, thin oil carries away more heat[because of faster runoff]than heavy-thick oils.nascar qualify on 0-10 weight, drag racers race with 0 weight oil [consistancy of water] only 25 dollars a quart.so im not really convinced that heavier oil is any better.opinions is like a 0-0-0-0-0-0sbut there has to be something to this thin oils. ed
  2. just my opinion,5-30 makes sense in cold climates, oil flows easier less engine damage at start-up.but hot weather oil--bullcrap--your engine runs the same temperature[or should] whether its 100 degrees outside or 30 degrees outside,so if anybody can explain why the same motor at the same temp needs heavier oil please explain.i understand "loose" engines can benefit from a thicker cushion of oil. but heavy oil will decrease milage whether you know it or not. ed
  3. does anybody really understand how these work? my local dealer said it might be--clutch pack, selonoid, orings in rear cover, moon phase and high tide problem. ed
  4. what i mean by the above post is that the notices were more than likely mailed to the previos owner but they had allready traded it in so it didnt matter. ed
  5. dont know the rules, maybe if its not something dangerous they dont have to? ed now that i think about it,they have to mail any recall notices to the registered owner, maybe they were inbetween owners at the time. ed
  6. the car is automatic, the trans was replaced 2 years ago. no noise that i know of.but one day when i headed to town the car seemed to be in 50-50,put fuse in all ok. ed
  7. the rear drive will kick in and then kick out,if you are spinning front wheels the rear will kick in and the car will move a few feet then kick out, keeps repeating this procedure.would this be clutch pack or selenoid? ed
  8. torqe bind is wgen the rear end binds up,yours sounds like a bad rack. ed
  9. if he dosent have a clue to what the noise is,i dont know why you would even consider letting him work on it,go elsewhere. ed
  10. check the pressure on cold tires[like first thing in the morning before you drive it].pressure will go up about 4 pounds in a 10 mile drive.say they have 32 pounds cold at 80 degrees outside temp,at 40 degrees that same 32 pounds will be about 28 pounds,i think you need to have that one tire checked for a slow leak. hope this helps. ed
  11. while the paint is still good and new get a good wax such as liquid glass or any high quality wax for that matter, this will make cleaning much easier and you probally can wash it off with water, and this will help hold off the so called acid rain. ed
  12. when the outside temp drops so does your pressure, yours sounds high.does all 4 tires drop the same? ed
  13. im almost sure that if you would ride the brake very gently as you get the shudder this would kick out the lockup on the converter, this might tell you something. ed
  14. my 91 also does this omce in a while.so im interested in replies too. ed
  15. usually caused by old plug wires, but also sounds like a fuel pressure problem. ed
  16. if all they did was water pump and timing belt, new coolant.YOU GOT RIPPED OFF. first thing i would do is demand that they fix it,if they decline this is what civil court is for.dont give up, make demands. ed
  17. i have soldered these back with no problems, get the gun as hot as it will get,put a little new solder on the gun tip and have solder ready when you touch the connection, just a second is all that it needs. ed
