My outback is no more.
_Aramchek_ replied to _Aramchek_'s topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXno,you sure can't,especially in the snow. My honda doesn't like to go anywhere in snow. I hope I can find another Legacy soon.

My outback is no more.
_Aramchek_ replied to _Aramchek_'s topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy next ride? I want another Outback or a Legacy,I was very impressed with how gentle the whole accident was conscidering what happened and I loved that car. I have a 1990 chipped Honda Accord I am selling to hopefully make up some of the money I'll need to get another OBW. The Honda is quicker but feels far less safe and sturdy, and it ust never felt like it "fit" me.

My outback is no more.
Long story short I was driving in to Ontario,I almost missed my exit turned in a little late, hit a patch of gravel, slid sideways,it jumped back to the other side,I almost had it back under control when I clipped a curb. The next thing I knew the car somersaulted and I was looking at the road out of my windsheild as the car spun and slid on it's roof. Luckily these are safe cars and the only scratch I had on me was aquired when I released the seatbelt and crawled out through the broken glass. The car was still runningbut would cost too much to ship home and fix so...it is no longer with me.

Two codes and advice?
Ok,managed to finally get a obd reader on my car to check the codes I've been getting for a while, accompanying my misfire and hesitation problem. p0507 IAC circuit idle speed higher than expected. it is sitting at just over 1100 rpm's at idle. and this is probably my misfire p0170 Feul trim bank one. This is a '96 OBW with a 1995 2.2 in it. I'd like some advice as to maybe where I should go from here, especially on the second code. Any help is appreciated.

96 2.2 auto->manual,will it work
OK,my poor Outback has been sitting without a motor for the better part of a year. Just haven't been able to find one in my busy schedule, until recently. The problem is,my Outback is of course,a manual, and the motor I've found is from an automatic. It's all the same year, but before I buy it I want to make sure that it can be converted, with parts I have already of course,to a manual from an automatic, preferably easily. Quick answers are appreciated as I have a large trip scheduled to somewhere there is a fair amount of snow, and I'm reasonably sure my modified Honda Accord is going to do VERY poorly in snow.

FWD fuse = big burnouts!
_Aramchek_ replied to WoodsWagon's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy 96 OBW 2.2 5mt doesn't do too bad. One thing Subaru's have that a lot of other 4 cylinder cars don't is torque...and it's great in a hilly area like where I live.. Oh,lots of dirt roads too,or really rough roads,I can blast down those at barely reduced,or even normal speeds. Let's see a Honda do that.

2.2L Head Gasket failure. *PICS*
_Aramchek_ replied to WAWalker's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHmm,I happen to have a mostly healthy looking 200k mile 2.2 sitting with a cylinder head off too,it's kind of interesting to compare to. What year is that engine? The pistons look different from the ones in mine.

Hahah,I won,the deer lost...my car is back.
_Aramchek_ replied to _Aramchek_'s topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI can't tell you how nice it is to have a good vehicle back..I was stuck driving an Izuzu Rodeo, and while it's not too awful, the indistinct steering and high ride height do nothing at all for me...that and, well,it was pretty gutless.

Red vs Gray fuel injectors?
_Aramchek_ replied to _Aramchek_'s topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks, that's kind of what I suspected, but I wasn't going to go through teh effort if there was no real difference. That's probably what's responsible for my occasional sputtering problem.

Hahah,I won,the deer lost...my car is back.
And you'd never know a deer jumped onto the hood just a few long weeks ago. The bumper pulled out well enough that I didn't worry about replacing it yet,I'll look for a cheaper one than what I was going to get, other than that,I am vry pleased. The hood looks so nice i think the car's set for a respray over the summer. http://www.freespaces.com/aramchek/Deer/Rebirth/p2093395.jpg http://www.freespaces.com/aramchek/Deer/Rebirth/p2093394.jpg http://www.freespaces.com/aramchek/Deer/Rebirth/p2093393.jpg http://www.freespaces.com/aramchek/Deer/Rebirth/p2093392.jpg

Red vs Gray fuel injectors?
I have two 2.2's,one is my outbacks original,it has red fuel injectors. The replacement motor has gray fuel injectors,is there any signifigant difference? What is the difference if any? Would it be worth switching the red ones on to the motor in my car?
