Re-using a timing belt?
Wombat Racing replied to a97obw's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXTake the price of a new timing belt and compare it with the price of an engine rebuild. Then ask yourself which one you would rather pay.

Anyone runnin' the 15" Pug flat spokes?
Yeah they look like the 15's that why I brought them. I had been on here looking at the different wheels that I might fit on to my Brumby and I saw thses type ones I just didnt know about the Inch and metric thing. I rang a few tyre places and they said not much chance of getting the metric tyres and if I did find some to expect to pay Aus $300-400 per tyre.

Anyone runnin' the 15" Pug flat spokes?
Well dont I feel stupid they are 390mm not the 15 inch ones. If only I had a bit better read of these forums. I didnt even know they made a wheel in Metric measurements. I am trying to see if I can get my money back for these.

EJ 22 into Wonder Brumby (1986 Brat)
Matty B: I would love to have a good look at this swap you have done. It sounds like just the thing I need for traveling up and down the west coast of Tassie. Do you have any photos or drawings with measurements of the custom engine mounts? could you give me a rough idea of what it cost you all up in Dollars? Cheers Troy "Wombat" Philpott.

Anyone runnin' the 15" Pug flat spokes?
I just picked up a set(5) of these mags from a wreckers for $100 Australian ($74 US) They need abit of a clean up but once I had seen some of the photos of other cars on here with them I just knew I had to buy them. once I get them cleaned up I will post a photo. They are to go on my 89 Brumby(Brat). I wonder what they would look like as black on a white car?

Picked up my 15" pugs and some nasty lugs (watchout 56k)
Go down to your local tyre/wheel shop and show them what you want then get them to order a set of new wheels lugs. Im sure that if I went into a local shop I could get something like them. (I am In Australia also). If you get stuck let me know and I will see what I can do for you down this way.

How many of you Guys are from the Land Down Under?
I would love to come on the trip but am restricted by a few things. At work all the holidays have been booked and I wont have any time off till April (other than my rostered days off). My Brumby only has road tyres on it and I dont thing they would get me very far along some of the tracks you are talking about. (Im a ex-west coast boy so I know of a few of the tracks you guys want to go on). Maybe when you set some dates I might be able to meet up with you's in Zeehan. You should have a look at the old spray tunnel while you are passing through. Email me at Wombat_racing@hotmail.com and I may have a few track reports or other info for you's. I would have posted this on Ausubaru but cannot access it. I have a password and all but it wont let me sign in. Cheers Wombat

4 x 140 PCD to 4 x 114 - :( help!
being a new Brumby/Brat owner and wanting to do a wheel conversion makes this all very interesting to me. I to would like to change my wheels but would need it to be a legal modification so that i can keep insuranced. I dont know what the legalitys are for just redrilling the hubs down here in Tasmania but will look into it with the local mag repair/reseller that I know. Cheers Wombat

Hi there Im the proud owner of a 1989 Subaru Brumbyand also a 1998 Subaru Liberty sedan. I live down on the little island Tasmania which is at the bottom of Australia. My car has: a 2" lift kit, bull bar, tow bar, 13" Sunraysia wheels, canopy, Factory sports fun roof and only 178,000kms on it. Im interested in doing the 4 to 5 lug conversion, and later on an engine swap to an Impreza or Liberty motor. I have been emailing Corky (Dr. RX) about the lug conversion but would like to talk to anyone else that has done the conversion especialy if the live in Australia. Cheers Troy "Wombat" Philpott.
