  1. Do the internals of the EA82 NA differ from the internals of the EA82 Turbocharged?? If not i have a whole EA82T engine, but the block is bad/turbo is still good... Can swap and put the parts on my engine?? Thanks, Bill
  2. Hey, I was looking at my air flow sensor and noticed something...that thing is tiny. Is there a bigger airflow sensor from another Subaru with that same plug??? Thanks, Bill
  3. Hey guys, Friend and me just got a new Subaru.... Its an 85 Subaru Loyale....Fully loaded! only 116,000 miles All digital gauges, sun roof, etc. Perfect condition inside and out Adjustable suspension all around And all the electronics work...even the windows what we payed?? $250 bucks...Why?? Some guy thought that when he broke the timing belts this meant the valves were bent...i agreed becuase of its age....but when i looked at the block and saw EA82 (EA82 is non-interference)...i payed him the money on the spot. The guy tiried to change the belts with no manual, and didn't have any experience with subarus...my friend and me found tons of stuff unhooked, or put in the wrong place....also the timing is off..he did something wrong for sure...i could hear it when i tried to turn it over..lol...some people... Other than timing, we need to put on a new gasket for the turbo...so besides those issues shes pretty clean...we will get some pictures up for you, and keep you posted on the project... -Bill
  4. Hey guys...i'am really sorry about not getting back to you. i had a whole bunch of things come up, and i didnt have the internet to let you guys know that it wouldn't work out. (we had spyware on our network, and had to switch ISP's and so on) For sure the second week of February will work....agian sorry for that.... Heres my proposed time 11:00 AM at Exit 63 at the park and ride. Is 11:00 AM good?? This is final if every one is ok with that...(it would be on Saturday-2nd weekend of Feb)... Ok, i have internet agian; so that shouldn't happen anymore, -Bill
  5. Ok...i think the last weekend of the month would be great...like saturday...i will look for some places and let u guys know....i have like 5 dif places...but there all pretty far apart...and i cant mud...but i can watch at least...the best area will probably be in a small place called Winlock...there is a good mud hole there..someone will get stuck gauranteed.... So if you guys our up for that day let me know...and we will setup a meeting spot...probably will be the park and right at the Winlock/Toledo exit..not sure of the exit number...but if you guys are up for this i will make an official post of all the info... Thanks, Bill
  6. I know its easy to swap but i don't want to spend the $$... bill
  7. lol..i already got some lights for the front, but i prob need to do an altenator swap..it doesn't like them... bill
  8. Ok guys...i went up to yelm today and i found this gravel road. It was nice and strait so i went bombing down at like 50 with my loyale and when i got to the end i saw a house...i didn't want to disturb them so i stopped and began to turn around by pulling front first into an entrance to a field...i turned the wheel left and began to back out and all of a sudden the whole right front of the car sank... I'am thinking great i'am stuck...i just angried the nieghbors with my strait piped exhaust, and now i'am stuck in a hole. If i make them mad enough they will call the popo and iam not going anywhere. And yes..they were outside there house watching me... So i get out...the hole is 3 feet deep and about a 1 and 1/2' in diameter...it was covered in grass so i couldn't see it when i pulled in. My tire was inside with my lower arm sitting on the ground...all i had was one measly wheel on wet grass to get me out. (my subaru is front wheel drive).... So i got in and slowly pressed the accelerator..it began to dig...and throw mud everywhere...i did this rocking motion for sometime, then i got pissed... I slammed the gas, and i can't believe it...it backed right out like it was 4 wheel drive.... Just as i got out i see a subaru coming down the road and so i figured i would talk to him. the guys stops and i tell him what happened. Turns out hes the guy living at the end of the road....bad idea to talk to him....he wasn't into subarus, and he wasn't happy to see me down there..all though i didn't feel bad becuase there wasn't any signs to keep me from going down. Otherwise i wouldn't have....iam not into trespassing... Anyway, he did give me directions on where i was going at least so i was happy with that much....anyway...just a story to show you that front wheel drive subys aren't to bad either. I was very happy to see my car make it out of such a big hole; and with no damage... Bill
  9. That sounds like a timing problem there man...when i changed my water pump the computer had to relearn the timing of the engine because i had unhooked the battery.(also check to make sure you batter connections are clean....) It wouldn't start in the morning and when you slammed it would die.... Change your timing belts...(it probably hasn't been done in a while anyway and you DON'T want that to go) When you have done that drive the car on a long 200 mile round trip...if the EA81 has a computer it will retime itself and hopefully that will fix the problem hope i could be of help, Bill
  10. Hey, I live in Centralia, Washington...2 hours south of Seattle; 1 and 1/2 north of Portland. I would like to setup a meet here in the next couple of weeks... if anyones in the area and would be interested please post and propose a date.. Keep in mind: We have tons of logging roads, mudding spots, and i know them all....(Yes there legal) Thanks, Bill
  11. Ok, i noticed a post about the SVX headlight mod...i just wasnt to into it though....is there any other options avaliable?? Cause i cant see anything..lol Is it possible to get the high density ones for this car?? My friend is parting out a cadillac cimmiron and we were going to see if the headlights would go in ok becuase there almost the same size...other than that i don't have any ideas.. Bill
  12. Hey guys, I was just wondering. I just put in a 300 watt amp in my 93 Loyale...its a four channel amp so its not a mono sub amp, but its all i had so i'am running that with one 500watt pioneer 12, and i have set it up so the power just goes to the one channel. The amp is a Power Acoustics Fire and Ice. Its a really nice amp, but not anymore power than i need.... Anyway, heres my question; my car seems to be ok altenator wise with this setup. I can run my brights, have my heater on full blast and have the radio way up and i can't notice any dimming or anything change...so am i ok with this stock altenator??? Its only like three months old so i'am just wondering if it will weaken as time goes on or not... Thanks, Bill
  13. Actually the only thing i have seen you must do is move the radiator up to where the spare tire goes...yes, theres a bunch of other little things that go along with it, but thats about your biggest part of the project... Remember though..if your waterpump goes, or something on the front of the engine goes on the ER27....its not going to be fun to change...changing things like that on the engine you've already got is bad enough...just imagine trying to do it when the front of the engine is underneath that peace of sheet metal...you might even have to pull the engine for work like that.... Other than that its a great idea, i wanted to do it myself, but i just cant afford it right now... Good luck hope it works out, Bill
  14. Nice work...i know i can't see anything with my lights...but maybe you should clean it up a bit...plasma cut (or hack saw it if nothing like that is avaliable..) a peace of aliminum to fit around and paint it black..that might clean it up a little more.... Then get a grill....but other than that nice work...i think i might look into doing this mod...it would definetly be worth it...i better do the altenator upgrade as well, or it will probably burn out as soon as i turn the lights on...lol -Bill
  15. Nah...ticking isn't a good thing, but it doesn't mean your car is dead at all. It can be a number of things. With my car I found that when i changed my oil it stopped ticking...so it can be a number of things. Also, my friend thought that he would shift my Automatic back into first when we were climbing this hill cause it was bogging down. You can't go over like 20 mph in first unless you want to fry something...he shifted down at like twenty five and i about flew through the window. It also started ticking after that incident cause it threw everything off...but it self-adjusted and it was fine after a while... Good luck, Bill
  16. Hey man, I couldn't remember your name at all...anyway. I knew you were local and thought we should try and get a meet going... And thanks for telling me to go here...what an AWESOME site. I had no idea that there was this much info for my car on the internet...it helps so much.. Anyway, if no meet hopefully ill see ya at the Rally-X at hillsboro in a few months...(*i still haven't gotten over that thing being cancelled...-CrAzY SCCA!lol*) Anyway, hope your new year was good...ttyl, Bill
  17. Hey, I'am looking for the member I met at the cancelled RallyX in november at Portland International Speedway. They were driving a brown Subaru Brat, and they told me about this site...but i cant remember his name on here... Anyway...you will remember me as driving a green subaru with a strait pipe, and i had the other guy w/ me (my nav.)... Thanks, Bill
  18. Hey guys...just changed my water pump on my 93 Loyale (EA82)...it was either do it myself and pay 30 bucks, or have some crazy mechanic do it for 400....so i went with the 30 dollar option...but it wasn't as easy as i though it would be. But i managed and i got it changed... The worst part was getting the front pulley off so i could get the middle timing belt cover off, finally i found the timing hole above the torque converter and stuck a screw driver in their..(making sure not to hurt anything of course.) She came off, and i got the pump changed without a problem. Thanks for all the help on the site, and whoever told me it was probably leaking from the weep hole was right.... -Bill
  19. Oh i know its not a blown head gasket...i was just mad, cuase that guy was CRAZY! Anyway, ive got the whole front of my engine off this morning...just waking up and getting ready to go at her agian. I just have to get the front pulley off...i got a gasket for the pump, unfortunetly I can't afford a pump right now....but its all good. I know its leaking from the pump, becuase the timing belt cover was full of coolent right underneath where the water pump is...when i took out the bolts, and split it apart, i got antifreeze in my face..lol Anyway, this engine is pretty easy to work on once you get started. It looked really complicated at first, but in an hour I had most of the front of the engine off..... Anyway, wish me luck! Bill
  20. lol...yah too bad the greeners say the Pikes Peak roads are eroding and killing the fish...next year...there probably isn't going to be a pikes peak...there PAVING it...yep thats right....second oldest race in the united states will be officially over.... It might still go on next year, but there saying at the rate there building it will probably be fully covered by next years rally.... Sorry to rant....
  21. So i noticed my car overheating (93' Subaru Loyale-EA82 NA) Checked the cooling/water. It was low so i added some to the reservoir tank and also checked where it was leaking...its leaking from the water pump, so i figured its just a seal or a gasket. Drove 30 miles to olympia today for an appointment, and it got hot but not to bad. I stopped at a rest area, and checked the reservior...car hadn't taken any of it! So i just continued to drive to my appointment, and when i got there, i checked it agian. Still..she hadn't taken any coolent. So afterwards, i went to the subaru dealership, and the first guy says its a seal. The next guy says it needs to be purged and probably a new seal. Get this...the subaru "tech" says..."its probably a blown head gasket..." ALARM: I just drove 60 miles round trip on a blown head gasket and it didn't smoke, or get real hot?? I don't think so...i don't see how that is possible..oh yah i might add there was no power loss...and it idled just fine...i think that guy wasn't paying attention when i was talking, but i'am not sure...i think its that it needs to be purged and wasn't taking anywater becuase there is air bubbles in the system...and it probably needs a new seal, or worse yet a new pump....but a head gasket..? To me thats out of the question, and i don't understand why the tech told me that after i thouroughly explained the situation..... Sorry to rant....but its a little unerving Bill
