  1. My project 1969 Subaru 360 Sedan light weight racer is coming together. It's so amazingly satisfying to see a heap of a carcass under a tarp for years come alive and actually be a useful fun mode of transportation. I would have hopped in and test drove even without a drivers seat had the spark plugs not fouled. I thrive on bringing old cars like this back from the dead. I was so excited thinking about getting this bugger going....I had a hard time sleeping that night.
  2. I would have to say, I am too.....
  3. Lean and light.... ready to fight ! This is my 1969 Subaru 360 sedan that was purchased new here in Oregon, a one owner car with the original title from new, and has a perfect rust free body. Even the original paint is in really good shape. This car has been with me 4 years now and has odd past history inmy hands. My buddy found this Subaru for sale with no engine and a bunch of parts. He really wanted it. I wanted to help him get into the microcar scene. I checked the car out onsite, bought it for him, and hauled it home. When my "cheapskate" buddy found out it would cost a little money to buy a clutch and pistons to put the engine together to make it run ....he got instant ice cold cheapskate feet and backed out. I then offered and sold the car to another buddy, who lost his job and he backed out as well. Destiny states this car will not leave unless I fix it up. In which case I will want to keep it.
  4. Excellent.! That is the smartest thing you could ever do, join the 360 drivers club. I've been a member since 1992. There's no way I could have restored over 25 Subaru 360's without the clubs help.
  5. A little daddy-daughter time on a nice Sunday, driving in our 1969 Subaru 360 Sedan. I'm trying to put some 600 plus miles on the engine to break in the new Wiseco forged pistons. So far, they are working really-really good. I have 400 more miles to go. The engine runs better and better everytime I take it out for a long drive. Germantown road is a torture test. I took it easy. If the pistons were going to fail, or sieze, this would have been the time. I also highlighted my new Honda CR 125 dirtbike muffler, it sounds great, and flows like a straight pipe. Take a listen.
  6. Us microcar folk are a determined bunch. We love to show our cars. We are creative in packing, racking, and stacking the little cars to travel two and fro. I have been part of this crazy hobby for some time and still amazed effort and ingeniuty that goes in to microcar travel. I have informally taken visual notes over the years. Here is a haphazard compilation of just how crazy we are.....and some of the nutty unique ways we can, and do, load and travel with microcars
  7. Life comes at you pretty fast as seen in 1080p hd from the cockpit of a Subaru 360 sedan at highway speeds. The video is so clear you can pick out the texture of the asphalt at speed. Pretty cool! This is the dashboard view as we decend Hwy 26 going down into the Sunset Hwy. tunnel heading Eastbound into downtown PDX. It's a white knuckle ride,....hold on tight as we blast thru the worm-hole portal to the other side !!!
  8. Yep. I drive it every day. Keep your eyes peeled !
  9. With all this talk regarding the new Abarth Fiat 500 due out soon there is renewed interest in the highly tuned microcar. This is my 1969 Subaru 360 Abarth. Watch out for the scorpion ! Daddy daughter day in a Abarth Subaru 360 sedan. I shot this clip in 1080p hd with my trusty 1 year old Panasonic Lumix zs10. Simple fun with a two stroke car on my daily drive to work.. I'm still breaking in my new Wiseco forged pistons, they are amazing. This is by far the most powerful 360 engine I've ever felt. It really zips. The car is so much fun to drive. Enjoy
  10. I use Redline Smokeless synthetic 2 stroke oil. It smokes the least
  11. Thanks! Really? an 80 ish Excaliber? Thats great! In the video I hauled my Messerschmitt KR 200 with the Subaru van, both are blue. I'm going to haul another Subaru with it soon. Stay tuned. I hauled some bikes....
  12. I put it all together in mini-series here:
  13. The Young 360 is a great buy if you are handy. I don't know about the DL value, maybe.... looks pretty clean
  14. My response was to light a little fire under your belly. Sounds like you got it. I still have "your" car although it's undergoing a major transformation....
  15. You can join the Subaru 360 club and forums anytime. In fact, there recently has been a HUGE surge of members lately. HUGE !! 360's are being bought and fixed up like crazy. However, it won't allow anyone to view without paying club dues of 8 dollars. Most people don't want to pay. It's well worth it to me. But I can't speak for anyone else. Join up and see.
