I changed my fuel filter today and it went pretty smoothy. I didn't use the car since yesterday, but I turned on the power to bring my windows down and I guess that caused the fuel pump to pressurize. After opening the gas cap, all of the spilling stopped. Now for my question - how much gas is usually in the old filter and what do you do with it? Can it be poured back into the tank or should it be thrown out? Also, should I reset the ECU but disconnecting the battery so it can re-learn with the new filter or should everything stay the same. Thanx, Pete

My 95 Legacy suffers from an occasional stuck hatch where I cannot open the hatch from the outside. I try opening and closing the power locks and that sometimes works, but not always. What I do to fix it is to go drive around, and after I get back it opens without a problem. The lock only works on the drivers side, but I don't think it is an unlocking problem. Does anyone else have this issue and how do you get around it? Thanx, Pete

Does a normal single din spaced car stereo unit fit into a 95 Legacy wagon? A lot of sites that I go to which have you input your car says that nothing will fit the Legacy, except Crutchfields. Do you just need something special to make the head unit fit or is it a major mod?

What are the stock speaker sizes for the front doors and the rear speakers on a 95 Legacy Wagon?

Sorry - it's a 95 legacy wagon. I thought all cars would be supported at the same spot.

Where do the jackstands go if I want to work on the underside of the car? It wouldn't be the jack point where I lift the car, right?

I am looking to do some paint touchup on my white 95 Legacy Wagon. Where can I find a paint code for it, or do I just go to the dealer and ask for it by color? Is there a good 3rd party match for it? Thanx, Pete

I have a 95 legacy that I have been slowly learning to maintain. I want to change the 02 sensors because I bought the car at 107K and I now have 155K on it. I think that there are 2 sensors in the legacy. Which one, should I change, or should I just do both? Thanx, Pete

When I can smell it, it usually smells like exhaust - what comes out of the tailpipe. This doesn't happend often - mainly when it rains. Thanx, Pete

Sometimes while I'm driving, I can smell fumes thru the vents if they are open. It seems to be from the engine, but it can also be from outside. I don't really have these problems with the AC or when the vents are closed. Can there be a leak somewhere?

How do I get to the fuel gauge senders? I know that they are behind the seats of my 95 Legacy wagon, but there is a board above it with 2 fasteners. They're not screws, so screwdrivers won't take them out. I'm afraid to pull and break them - anyone? Thanx, Pete

What happens when either your front or rear differential gets low on fluid? How does the car react/ride? Will the car just halt or grind or explode??? Well, maybe not explode, but how can you tell if there is something wrong?

Which one is better or are they both the same in terms of quality/service/etc... Both stores are next to each other, so there isn't a distance limitation in case one is significantly better. Thanx, Pete

Can I use 80/90 gear oil in the rear diff of my 95 Legacy, or does it have to be 75/90?

During the past few week, everytime it rained and the car sat overnight, when the car started, the engine would idle rough, the CEL would come on and blink for a minute and then turn steady. As soon as it turns steady, the idle smooths out and everything runs as it should. If I disconnect the battery to clear the code, the car starts normally. Then it will stay that way until the next rainy day. Any thoughts? I just had the car inspected today and it passed both safety and emmissions. Thanx, Pete

Thanx for the info. My brakes are a little over a year old, but I have about 35K highway on them. I'll have it checked out - as long as it's not a tranny issue, I'm happy.

When I am driving highway speeds and then brake, when I get to about 30, the rear of my 95 Legacy shakes a bit and then goes away when I hit 20. There are no shakes during accellerations and this happens whether I am going straight or turning. Any thoughts?

Like the title says, is it easy to change the rear diff fluid on a 95 Legacy? Will the car have to be lifted?

I checked the break fluid cap today and found that the bladder has been expanded. I topped off the brake fluid and replaced the cap. My question is should the bladder stay expanded or should it be pushed back up?

I will check that out. I did take the lid off and fluid looked okay, but I didn't check the bladder. I had my brakes completely done in February of this year (rotors, pads, drums, shoes) and though I put about 20K on the car, I hope it's not pad wear already. Thanx, Peter
