  1. Hmm, i may consider going, not sure a 91 T-Leg would be representing old school suby but it sounds like a cool thing to do for the day.
  2. My god it's beautiful! Wish i lived closer.
  3. Well your still has the front IFS right? Nothing wrong with swapping in a strait axle i guess. You get more flex, less chance of breaking stuff, locker options, the only thing i dont like is the loss of center clearance. Thats one of the biggest reason i can't bring myself to swap a strait axle in, unless it's like a portal axle of some kind, but there big $$$$.
  4. Hmm? That is kinda a tough call. I guess i would still call a Subaru with a strait axle swap a Subaru, as long as it was built off the stock body and not just set on a frame. I meen really we are just starting with a platform to build off of. Thoes of us with more money and/or fab skills will take it farther and farther to make it a more capable vehicle untill it doesnt really resemble stock any more. I guess the differace is a modded Toyota still uses it's stock frame and still has strait axles under it, maybe not the ones it came with but still uses the same layout. A Subaru with a strait axle swap has kinda just become a Subaru powered buggy. Do i make any sence at all.
  5. Hmm, this brings an interesting point to light. When we had the wagon at the car show they were having a highest truck contest. The measurment was taken from the bottom of the the door to the ground. I thought this was a pretty lame way to measure it. I mean i can take a pinto body and weld it on 5ft stilts to a stock Ranger chassis and win this contest....does that meen it's any good at wheeling? I think a better tried and true method would be seeing how many beer cans (or other stackable objects) you can drive directly over? Seeing as body hight does not equal ground clearance.
  6. Well the problem is..i think, that we wheel Subaru's to have something different and cheap. At some point you may as well just build a tube buggy and hang some Subaru sheet metal over it, or stick a Subaru body on a truck chassis that has all that fancy suspension anyway. I meen look at Baja trucks, they say Ford or Chevy or what ever on them and in reality there is nothing stock about them. Building off road Subaru's has it's limitations, we deal with them.
  7. Isnt that one on a Rover chassis or something?
  8. Haha, yeah. She might want to clean it up a bit first thoe. Needs side covers and two of the turn signals broke off from the rubber comming apart. Other than that it's in great shape, only 9k on it and she took it out the first day we got it home! For only $700
  9. Well the seat back and head rest have no adjustments....She was sitting in a Sparco Evo racing seat. So maybe that was a good thing?
  10. Well she was sitting at a stop light for like 30sec. when this guy ran right into the back of her as if he had no clue he should have been stopping. I dont think he hit the brakes untill he heard the braking glass and crushing steel. And yes this is the girl who wants to rock a lifted Legacy and you know ahe went out and did today? Bought herself an 83 Honda 1100 Magna. She's crazy but god do i love her.
  11. Well my plan is to rebuild out of a really clean shell i have had laying around for awile. If they wanted to just pay me for to replace the car it would be around $20grand between finding another svx this clean and then getting all the parts and labor i have into this one. I'm hoping they give me enough to do some mods along the way. I was looking at superchargers right befor this happend and a taller 5th and 6th gear set out of a spec-B for some better highway cruising. If all this works out like i want i will end up with a really bad rump roast and freshly painted SVX.
  12. Pictures say a thousand words......of hate!!!! Fortunatly my girlfreind was not seriously injured that we know of yet but is having some pretty bad back and neck issues right now. Thanks to Subaru for making such a well build and safe car other wise she may not have been as lucky against a 40' box truck.
  13. That is a tiny Loyal! Pretty sweet!
  14. Hehe. Thanks. Well anyway, yes right now it is only RWD, with a very long modified driveshaft. The down travel is right around stock, maybe a little longer due to the extra weight of the extra metal. We drove it to a freinds house this weekend and it's road manners are quite well so far. Cant wait to get it all tied together and go wheeling!!! And yes.....she is an amazing girl! I'm keeping her!
  15. Hehe....thanks. Well it's running on 33"x 9.50" We haven't got the T-case in yet but were using a Sammy divorce case. 4:11 rear ends (no lsds yet). Got the rear suspension pretty much done, just got some more reinforcing to do in the front and make the cradle and mounts to put the T-case in. Add a few skid plates and a bumpers (the one on the front was off my Loyal, just tacked in on there for the car show). And then we can see how it go's off road! As far as a wright up....well lots of welding and lots of metal (my girlfreind has the welding burn to prove it!) Other than that we will take some suspension pics once we get it all sorted out. As far as we can find no lift this big has been attempted before so we gotta see how it all works out.
  16. It's not wheeling ready yet but it is drivable. Hopefully the next pics will include wheeling action.
  17. Will have new pics of progress soon. Just forgot to bring the camera Got the rear suspension set and now were moving to the T-case part. Looking pretty good so far. Well, we also need to get the money for the other two tires.
  18. Yeah, the best part is she does most of the work!!!! Including all that welding....god so much welding!
  19. still working on in!!!!
  20. Yeah we moved the whole subframe forward to make more room for the tires to turn. Kinda hard to remove the door frame. We did the same with the rear. Sticking to some 33 9.50 BFG at's for now becouse it's gonna be her daily driver this winter.
  21. Well we ended up cutting the bottom off another set of struts and welding them to the bottom of the the outback struts. It's about 6 3/4" extension, and it will clear 33" no problem. In the future it will probly get some strut inserts and coil-overs anyway, but for now it works great. Also the Legacy/Loyal axle thing worked great. Just removed the inner cup from the Legacy alxe and put the Loyal cup in it's place..Perfect!!! Will try to get some pics of the current progress soon.
  22. 4:11 legacy diff, and probly a hybrid Loyal/legacy axle. So far we got the front diff and front suspension mounted and just about finnished. It's got a total of 6 1/2" subframe drop to fit it all.
  23. Yeah what he said. No CV problems. The stubs will be a bit loaded and I'm curious to see how well the wheel bearings hold out but I'm hoping it's all a bit stronger that the Loyal peices, seems like I was putting a new wheel bearing in that thing every two months and that was with only 30"s. The only tricky part is gonna be finding wheels with enough offset to clear the 33"s against the struts, but I'm sure I can come up with something to make that work. Oh and pics will come.
  24. Yeah, sweet. I just found a site with t-case gears that lower the high range to make 33"s turn like stock and eaither 6:1 or 8:1 low range! Perfect!
