  1. Sweet wheels! Very, very nice. Autosol is great! Got some of that me-self.
  2. Hey I've been to that place! It rocks! I especially liked the Tree of Shame... Didn't take my Subie though; I was with my Mustang club buddies. We had a blast! Be careful on those curves folks.
  3. I've seen some universal ones at Autozone that I'm sure would work...
  4. Thanks for the responses folks! I appreciate the warm welcome. Crayola, you'll find your perfect deal on a Subie. Don't give up! Anthenium, I will have to look into the rear disc brake conversion... They can host your pics here if you upload them with your post Martha; but they can only be up to a certain size (like the ones I posted for example-no bigger than that).
  5. Congratulations! I've always liked the XTs; to score an XT6 is way cool!
  6. Here are some pics of my new aquisition. Would you believe she only cost me $100? Mileage is high at almost 300,000. Yes, her rear window is shattered; but a replacement is at the ready.
  7. OK here is the side profile of my '93. Sorry that the car isn't on flat concrete but I guess it is fairly level. On a truly level surface there seems to be a more pronounced gap between the top of the front tire and the edge of the fender than on the rear. There is nothing in the trunk whatsoever. Does that seem normal?
  8. First try a transmission fluid & filter change; that might help.
  9. There is an EA82T which is availible to me for cheap, so the AWD turbo tranny will suit me great...I only paid $100 for this car and have no intention of dumping big money into it. Just whatever I can score here and there, be it the boneyard or the net; and I'll do all the work myself to save even more. Another perk of the AWD tranny for me is the simplicity factor...I'm just not interested in any extra shifting.
  10. I will come get it for certain; but with so many things going on for me right now it may take a few months...hope that's not too long.
  11. Thanks! I'll look for one of those; but how will I know how to identify one?
  12. Would I still need a different/additional shifter linkage with a 5-spd. AWD transmission if I already have a manual? Also, would it be possible to run just the AWD trans. temporarily without the driveshaft & AWD rear end set up? Would the tailshaft leak without the driveshaft installed? Maybe I could plug it somehow...:-\
  13. That's a pretty rugged looking 'Sube you have! I mainly want the AWD for if I hit a slick or icy patch in the road, and maybe a gravel/dirt path here and there. Worn springs is going to be my guess, as the previous owner was a 350 pound powerlifter LOL! I still haven't quite figured out how to post pics yet...sorry:confused:
  14. Is the gearing different on 4WD rear ends vs. AWD rears? What are the differences I should look for; and how many different ratios were produced?
  15. If I found a rear end set-up from a 4WD/AWD; would it be compatible with my existing rear swingarms? (probably not huh:-\ )
  16. That is awesome! I would really enjoy a road trip.... Things are going to be pretty busy for me in the next few weeks so it looks like I may not be able to make it up there until the end of the summer, if that's OK. Please hold on to that tranny for me though...I'll come get it for sure!
  17. Actually I'm not really interested in lifting the front at all...the front rides a little higher than the the back at present-this is the problem. I just want to boost the rear ride height a little, to flatten things out. I am fully aware that increasing the tire size will affect the gearing-which is why I plan to run 185/70R13's all around, since this is going to be principally a street car (I think I mentioned that already, lol:-p ).
  18. I really don't have anything against 4WD; in fact that would be my preferred route if off-roading was on the agenda for this particular vehicle. However, since I am in no hurry I'll just take my time and see what's out there for cheap.
  19. Thanks for the responses everyone! I'm thinking AWD might actually suit me as this puppy will be on the street about 95% of the time. I'm just really not very interested in doing any extra shifting; but we'll see what I run across...if a 4WD is the first donor that I find then I'll take it. Mostly I want the AWD for the snow and ice. If lifting this thing a little proves to be too much trouble then I'll probably just leave the stock height alone...not really interesting in going through any special procedures just to get the alignment right.
  20. Thanks GD! So tell me; would other models work as well for donors, like wagons for example? Just curious about dimensional compatibility and so on.
  21. Wow, you guys rock! I've only been a member for like a day and already have gathered a tremendous amount of useful information and help. What a great site!
  22. I'll have to look into that...maybe I'll get somebody to rev it up while I stand outside of the car and listen. I only heard it run for a minute but will be bringing the car home tomorrow after having just purchased it this weekend.
  23. Thanks Gary! I have heard a lot regarding this common problem...it's good to have the piece of mind that it isn't serious; but since it is annoying and within my reach I will definitely take care of it. I'm wondering how hard it is to change out the oil pump now...:-\ Also, Autozone wants a hundred bucks for a new oil pump. I wonder if I could score one cheaper somewhere else, with a new gasket to go with it?
  24. Yes my friends, my newly aquired Loyale has the dreaded "tick tick tick" that increases with RPM. From what I hear the "Mickey Mouse" shaped gasket on the oil pump is the most likely culprit. I went by Autozone this evening and they did not have a seal (not even availible) but thet did have a replacement pump manufactured by Melling. Figuring I'm going to go ahead and do the pump while I'm at it, what else can I do to fight the tick? An engine flush, with some ATF maybe? All suggestions are welcome.
