  1. well you could go bigger without issues. Up to 10"....I mean I've seen ob's that tall…
  2. it got a four wheel alignment on Wednesday. Everything was within spec and got tweeked a little to make it perfect. The rears were little worse off than the front, but only by .08. At 55 it sort of felt like the time my GL went from wagon wheels onto the 13" "rally" alloys that I grabbed at the yard. Time will tell just how bad the camber was, is, or will be. Uh…the speedo is off just a touch…2 or 3 mph which was expected. It's rolling on 27" of rubber now and it just eats up potholes that would have otherwise shaken your crowns loose rolling around on the Potenza's the 15" had on them. Does it seem like paper bags are getting smaller to you? That one is only 14" tall.
  3. Sorry about the pic quality… I'm doing all of this from my phone as I don't have a computer. 215/65R16 on Forrester rims. Before
  4. I'm shopping around for a winch. nothing too fancy....not like ill be yanking out anything bigger than a civic coupe with the legacy. more like for getting me out of stuck places. any thoughts? oh yeah the lego is getting 215 65 16 put on it right now. pics tonight.
  5. My buddy is the fabricator. He's been pounding them out pretty regularly. PM me if you'd like his info.
  6. Hello all.......... Where to start...... I've been unable to spend any time in front of the computer as of recent, but I wanted to share the excellent fabrication that went into my car last week. (MODS PLEASE TAKE NOTICE) Im not going to take the time to post this build so that those who have nothing better to do than watch their post # get bumped up to the next echelon reply with any slanderous banter. Comments are appreciated, but, please keep it constructive. If you are here to bad mouth my friends with your replies don't expect to illicit a response from yours truly as I wont waste my time with you.....I'd rather do man things like split some wood or hang out with your mom. Not to say that the inevitable thread hijack wont occur....to that I'd like to say: turn of the computer, take off the sweats and slippers, and get some fresh air. These are all build pics, ill have road pics once i get my forrester 16's out of storage and new 205's put on. Lastly: Thanks to everyone involved with the build from Mudrat Designs and Coyote Steel in Eugene to RALLITEK in Portland (for sourcing that skid plate).zzz:Flame: :-p before: custom 2" strut blocks.....the strut top hats sit perfectly flush inside these steel pieces. There are 20 2" square blocks that the unibody sits on. the bumper wont sit comfortably without trimming a bit of the fat here's the bumper (custom welded) mounted after coming back from the powdercoater. the skid plate, apparently the last one left in the states, was sourced through rallitek. and that near vertical piece of aluminum was tig welded onto the skid. Runs grrrrrrreat! and rides very nice on four brand new outback KYB GR2's....just swapped the springs off the lego. Fronts Rears
  7. Ditto none the less...kiwi....I'll take two of these shipped anywhere in the US. Can I get into the SEA deal you are swinging? PM me please!

  9. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=96864&page=4 post # 37 I'm just interested in getting the speedo to compensate for the larger tire size.... I'm not trying to fry my ecu..... Anybody?
  10. Ok.....I'm in for two of these, please! I'm in San Francisco and will drive my truck down to pick them up. What do ya say?
  11. Ok so I'm lifting my 99 leg wag.....outback struts, my leg's springs, new perches, engine blocks....... I'm running on my stock 15" alloys, but, I've got a set of 16"s off of a Forrester and I'm looking to go onto some 205's I hope. Bumpers are coming off so there won't be any interference there..... My question is this: With bigger tires my speedo go's off I loose economy etc... What about a TCU from a donor OB? I hear this fixes speedo issues .... But is it plug & play? Do I need a TCU from a 2.2 OB as my Lego is a 2.2 or will a TCU from a 2.5 OB work fine? Suggestions are welcome!
  12. Hello all. I am moving (finally) out of Arizona. Having lived in one place for over three years I have accumulated a few things that I cannot part with. For example an 80 pound 17' long canoe, a 950 pound Pacific Yurt, a few large Cacti, and an antique dining room table with 6 chairs. Obviously I need to pull a trailer in order to haul the big stuff (canoe on the roof.) Joe Spitz at cars 101 says that SOA doesn't recommend towing with a legacy http://www.cars101.com/subwarr.html. I have a 5MT and am running her bone stock. I would check my owners manual but it is at the shop with the car getting the t belt done. How much weight can I tow safely?
  13. Looking into a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position 195/60R15 $457.000 out the door from Tire Pros Is this too much of a tire for my legacy? What tires do you run? Would you buy them again?
  14. 99 leg wagon phase II 2.2 88k with a 5mt bone stock running 91-93 octane 25 mpg in town 30-38 mpg all highway she always runs father with fresh oil in the crankcase.
  15. whoa, these PZEV have fewer emissions coming out the tailpipe during driving conditions than my car does at idle. crazy.
  16. Yo, I was somewhere in the galaxy the other month and saw a Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle badge on the back of a forester. I cant remember the trim level that it had, it was a rental i know because it had a fleet registration sticker and an enterprise logo on the back. Does anyone own one of these Foresters? Or does anyone know anything about this model? Im off to check cars 101 on the issue right now.
  17. modded like drilled holes and moved the mounts off the sliders and over the drilled holes?
  18. uh...check thule's website...the cascade is discontinued...the frontier is back. thanks
  19. so, the adventurer is discontinued, at least on the thule website havent checked elsewhere yet, the frontier seems like the only option as my aforementioned option wont fit the boards inside. i know there are more of you out there that have faced this issue before...throw me a bone.
  20. I need: A box big enough to fit 185 cm skis Something that works with my factory rack (not puttin on rain gutters) - this is a lego rack that ends mid way past the rear windows. The hatch must be able to open all the way. Browsing online has led me to believe that the Thule 603 ascent may be a candidate. Anybody else have an idea on this one?
  21. i cant say i've ever seen a 99 brighton as it was the 30'th anniversary for SOA and they offered a packaged out L.
  22. rare car, relatively speaking.
  23. So I am moving high into the mountains come September and am elated to say that now i finally have a reason to decrease my MPG. I NEED more ride height.....so the only thing i can think of is outback struts AND springs. my ride is a '99 lego 5mt SW. while i did a similar swap on a 94 lego GT I incorporated everything from OB suspension bushings to the frame member spacers (that part was a pain in the rump roast) yet I also swapped in the springs off of my 94 onto the strut of the donor OB. I don't want to do any of that again. Would it be feasible to just order some KYB's (struts AND springs) for a 99 OB SW, tear out the lego's (which have almost 70k on them), and throw the KYB's on with the strut tops and all? Would the new greater angle placed on the knuckles be too great? I guess what i am really asking is can you slap on some new OB sized struts AND springs on a legacy that has NO body lift and get away with it.....for a while at least without having major issues?
  24. 5MT Wagon with a roof rack, both hood and sunroof deflector, running bone stock on touring radials. Just hit 34 mpg on a recent trip across the Mojave running 93 octane gasoline traveling between 75 in AZ on the I-40 and 55 - 65 through California. The first tank went something like 435 miles out of 13 gallons.
