  1. I had a post before about my dealer having to repaint the inside of my trunk do to rust around the spoiler bolts and they put the old spoiler back on and then vibrating started from there, so then they replaced it with a new one and now it is vibrating again especially when it is cold out. Now here is the deal, the dealer verbally told me they heard the noise and told me that there is nothing further they could do, so on the repair order they put down no problem found no repair made which under warranty purposes you are supposed to state that, I worked at a dealer so I know that so what that did was pretty much dismiss the sitaution, so they said two things actaully, they heard it but put down no noise heard no problem found no reapir made, so I called subaru on the issue and I have another apt with the dealer again next week for the issue I have to drive with the tech or body shop guy to hear the noise that is obvious but not to them. Shady situation to me but pissed off at the dealer big time. Could it be the spoiler or the trunk making this noise remember the trunk was removed to fix and repaint.I would appreciate as much feedback on this sitaution as possible. thanks:mad:
  2. Thanks everyone for the great advice, for sure another dealer! I have contacted soa on this issue and discussed this and they are going to get into it for me and contact that dealer and figure out a solution, its all warranty to still and I have a exteneded warranty on this car, I have never had a problem like this before either, the car has been great! The last time they had this issue they had the car for a week, thank god I had a rental and they were paying for it. If it gets to the point of no return I will talk to them about a new trunk without the spoiler, but we will see from there. So I will let everyone know in a day or so. Thanks again for the replys.
  3. Hello all! I have my 2004 subaru legacy and it has the factory spoiler on it and back in february of this year it was replaced because it was vibrating on the trunk and sounded awful, so at that time rust was found from poor factory installation around the bolts inside the trunk. My trunk was taken off and repainted and repaired all under warranty and the new spoiler was put on and all ok ,then the cold weather comes around and here we go again, vibrating again on the trunk so I take it back to my dealer and they tell me there is nothing further they can do. Um ok I do not except that at all, so now I am thinking about calling subaru and going from there. So hit me up people what do you think? Not a happy person, I also think the body shop is not so good either in repairs, this spoiler is a subaru spoiler and it should not vibrate at all. I appreciate any comments on help!
  4. Hello I work at a subaru dealer and we had this issue with a 98 outback also changed plugs, wires and coil and reset the computer, then it came back on with the same codes so we did top end cleaner also, no luck there either. so with all that done we pulled the engine and had to replace some valves that went bad this is kinda wierd though usually you are looking at adjusting them, so good luck man hope it all works out, remember this issue was the same cylinders missfiring.
  5. Thanks man, so it doesnt seem like it is crapping out on me then right? I am kinda of confused I am looking at the sensor on the rear facing out right its not the button i turn off right , the sensor is located next to it it looks like a glass eye? This is on the inside facing me youare talking about it facing out the windshield. hit me back man.
  6. Hello all! I have a question, I have a 2004 subaru legacy 35th anniversary edition sedan, love it just washed and waxed it and detailed the inside, looks showroom again! So I have a compass/autodim mirror with it and it seems like it is in autodim all the time, when I turn the button off it goes back to regular mode but it seems to stay in dim mode all the time now. Can some one please tell me if this is ok or is it? It is going to the dealer saturday for a oil change and having my brakes checked and this issue with my auto dim. I would appreciate some feedback on this. thanks.
  7. Thanks for responding! The subaru dealer I go to is looking into the situation for me and I have to make a apt with them as soon as they get back to me. I don't want to get into wiring myself touchy there for sure. I don't know about this issue it is rather odd though the car is a 2004 and the romote came from subaru, my warranty should cover it hopefully.
  8. Thanks for getting back to me! What is a tap? I never heard of it, I thought it could of been a fuse, or perhaps or a relay. What do you think of those possibilities? Hit me back and let me know. I also wanted to know have you heard of these omega car starters? Subaru had them available to subaru of new england dealers but I had heard there were problems with them though.
  9. Hi the battery terminals are fine and I had cleaned them up before a week ago. I can start the car without any problem at all. It's a wierd situation. The remote starter has issues I would guess.
  10. The engine turns over without any problems. The remote starter has issues.
  11. Do you much about these remote starters at all? The dealer has to get back to me on this issue, I am not happy that it is happening. I woull appreciate any iformation you have have. thanks
  12. Hello all! I have a 2004 subaru legacy sedan with a omega remote start from the factory and I have developed a rather wierd problem. You have to press the button on the remote twice for it to start, well I push the button twice within five seconds like you are supposed to do and when I do you can hear it click like the car is going to turn over and the lights come on and then it wont turn over, well this has become a intermintant problem. So I wondering if anyone has any answers to this question I can pretty much say the dealer is going to fix it but I was hoping to get a base idea problem for this issue.
  13. Hello all! I have a 2004 subaru legacy 35th anniversary sedan with 32k on it and my engine knock is bad man, even when it is warmed up it still knocks, the dealer said it is normal, I disagree even when it is warmed up. I know that is should go away when car is warmed up. So any comments of what I should do?
  14. Hi your issue you are having in regards to the transmission downshifting happened to me, I had a 99 outback with 42k on it and it did it to and I hated it felt like I was being jerked. Well it was something I had to deal with myself. I really didnt do anything about it the dealer said it was normal for that year. i was recently on the UNofficial Subaru Outback Webpage, where in the FAQs section they talk about the automatic transmission 1999 Subaru Outbacks downshifting aggressively after the introduction of the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) and that partway through that year Subaru changed this part and that 1999 models with this aggressive downshifting problem can have their TCU replaced for free? Is this for real? Here is the qoute: Subaru added a 'grade control logic' program to the auto transmissions for '99 and newer models to help slow the car during long descents. In '99 the program was quite aggressive and would downshift inappropriately and race the engine. Halfway through the model year, Subaru replaced the TCU (transmission control unit) with one employing a less-aggressive profile and this helped reduce complaints. I have been told that any '99 car can be refitted with the new program free-of-charge. I live in Colorado, where I drive in the mountains quite a bit, and have found that while in D unless I am just so feather-light on the brakes on the descent after coming over a pass, the transmission will downshift suddenly with the rpms jumping from around 2500 to 3500 to 4000, it will not shift back up, but rather the rpms continue to go up as I continue to descend regardless of whether I use the brakes to slow the car down. I often have to shift into neutral and then back into OVERDRIVE. this sudden downshift does not seem out of place if I suddenly slam on the brakes because of something on the road, but seems too severe for someone travelling 85 mph who wants to slow down slightly because of someone moving slow in the passing lane. My wife often asks if the "car is alright" when it downshifts, it's that noticable. Does anyone know if this is for real and where I can get it replaced? I worry that this sudden downshifting and then subsequent shift into neutral then back into OVERDRIVE at 75-85 mph will wear out my tranny prematurely. Thanks, Steven
  15. Hello all! I bought a 6 disk with weatherband/radio off a guy on ebay, it was out of a 2003 legacy and I have 2004 and I had the dealer install it today and found out that there are 3 cd's stuck in it and the cd player is inop, what the hell man? This guy sent me a piece of junk the dealer said it has problems and showed me what was wrong with it. I want to know are there problems with 6cd cd with wb radio on these legacies? So I am in touch with the guy who sold it to me and now for money I spent having taken in and back out.
  16. I agree man I am thinking about calling subaru on thses issues, this is annoying ya know only if they payed attention to these issues of when I picked the car up everythng would of been fine ya know. They didn't pay attention either of when I complained about the issues either. Well hopefully everything will be ok when it goes back in when the console is in.
  17. Hello to all subaru owners I just wanted to ask a few questions about a issue with my 2004 subaru 35th anniversary edition sedan along with the trip to the dealer. First I had my front belts adjusted a couple of services ago and and they are squeaky again, the belts are in great shape so I am thinking of maybe a pully problem perhaps? This car only has 31k on it also, I also had to have a new rear spoiler put on it due to a screw up at the port installation, the spoiler was vibrating the trunk badly, well they installed a new one and it still does it, any suggestions out there on that issue? I was also upset at the dealer to due my center console needing replacement becasue the foam pieces on the side to hold the drink in ripped and wore out and they said the console was in and they were going to replace and ended up replacing the rear cupholder instead, man I am not a happy customer at all. When I picked up the car that day man was I mad you would figure that if the spoiler was vibrating the trunk they would of took it on a test drive to make sure all is well, so its going back to the dealer for all these issues when the center console arrives in then for the belts then to the body shop again for the spoiler.
  18. Hey man I had a 1999 subaru outback I bought with 43k on it and traded it in with 60k on it for my 2004 subaru leagcy 35th anniversary edition now! I had a new reman transmission installed in it under subaru's warranty due to internal seal failure, but it was all good and I had the rear seperator plate replaced to a metal one cause it leaked and the oil pan gasket and the valve cover gaskets all at once, all under warranty to so I payed for nothing other than that the car was awesome man I do miss it but, I love my legacy now though more, I never had anything else go wrong with that outback than those things it was a fun car to drive I worked at the subaru dealer to man so I got a chance to watch the engine come out to do the oil leaks and watched the transmission get replaced to. I never had a head gasket problem either like everyone else has either.
  19. Hey man I didn't start wahconah till 1994 and graduated in 1997 i have many friends and family that graduated from there also. so what kind of subaru do you have? do you ever come up this way at all? do you have family or friends up here to?
  20. Yeah I have heard of dealers doning that but they have benn good to me, they also know I worked at a subaru dealer and was a service writer and a parts guy to and I also know the subaru rep to so I think they tend to back down a bit to, because of what I know and used to do I am very knowledgeable of subaru's and I think when I have mentioned things they are like wow so nothing gets by me. so are you from this area?
  21. Hello all! I have a 2004 subaru legacy 35th anniversary edition sedan I am getting a new spoiler on my subaru due to poor installation from the port. I orginially had the spoiler removed from a subaru dealership and had to have the trunk repainted and fixed because of a amount of time rust formed around the spoiler bolts in my trunk and caused the trunk to rust, all went well then after that I developed a vibration in the trunk well it was the spolier again problems with the hardware so per subaru rep he gave the ok to order a brand new one. I am pleased so the subaru dealership is going to paint and installl a new one, so while I am there I figure I will have the brakes checked, and I have a squeak coming from the belts again I had had them adjusted awhile ago and you can hear a sweak from them again so I want that to be checked out also, this is all warranty anyways so it's cool. Subaru does to me take good care of there customers and the subaru rep we have is a great guy, I had also known him prior to from when I worked at a subaru dealer.
  22. Hi all! Well my spoiler situation turned out to be that I have a port installed spolier on my subaru and not a subaru one either, not good man since I have had the trunk painted because of the spoiler bolts rusting and having to replace them and repainting my trunk to.The subaru dealer I go to has to get in thouch with the subaru rep and order a brand new subaru spolier and have it painted and reinstalled, the old one on my car now vibrates the trunk becasue of some kind of clips not holding it down, so with all this said I get a new spoiler onmy car and hopes all will be well after that.Subaru port installed accessories can be a pain beacause when they install them at randome they do not usually do it right and careless so it casues problems when i worked at the dealership I had on many ocassions seen problems like this withport installed accessories and it sucks to have to get it taken care of.
  23. Hi all! Well my sitaution is so much getting old, I had to have my spoiler on my 2004 subaru legacy removed aways back to have the trunk painted due to the spoiler screws rusting out in my trunk causing the paint to rust, so I had the spolier removed at a subaru dealership to have the trunk painted and the rust fixed and new spolier hardware, so all was good then I developed a vibration coming from the trunk well the its the spoiler again, a different issue. My car was back at the dealership today for the problem and they did find that it was a port installed accessory which is not always a good thing because when accessories are installed at the port they are done rather half rump roast when I worked at a subaru dealership there were many times where there was port installed accessories and they had many problems even to replace them, so with my situation they have to replace the spoiler and order some different hardware, they had to get in touch with the subaru rep in regards to this situation so needless to say I am not happy with subaru I am actually thinking about calling them about this this spoiler situation. It is annoying and getting old, this is the only issue I am having with this car and its still under the 3yr 36k bumper to bumper and has 30k on it and its a 2004, so I am not sure at this point till I hear back from the subaru rep and dealership. The noise was for sure the spolier you could for sure tell the way it was happening.
  24. Hi there very interesting situation this has been a problemin legacies and outbacks from 1997-1999 I worked in a dealer and there was no outback or legacies from 2000 and up with this problem I would say that you have a drain issue somewhere, for starters have you had someone look at this problem at all? From there you it should send you in a good direction even though water leaks are a pain to find and follow. good luck man let us know how you make out I know I am curious.
  25. Hi all 2004 subaru legacy 35th anniversary edition with every bell and whistle available! So I just had my 30k service done and very pleased with my mechanic he is a subaru specialist and he has a great reputation and is so honest and we were talking about subaru's and it's pretty bad how I only have 30,100 on it and it knocks so bad man I did take it to a local dealer and they said oh its noraml and I say hell no man this one sounds awful it raps so bad so my next plan is to see subaru of america about this issue. I happen to know the subaru rep for my area and I think once he hears it he with authorize work to be done. I have had over 10 subarus and none of them sounded this bad I have had 97's and 99's they knocked but it did go away but this one is the pit of them all.
