  1. problem fixed! i need to learn to double and triple check the easy stuff!! the spark plug wire to cylinder 1 had a bad end at the rotor side, that gave a fine idle but somehow lost connection under load? it wasn't burned up or anything either just kinda disconnected in between the actual wire and the little metal end thanks for all the suggestions everyone
  2. quick update I drove it to work today and it ran alot better for no reason, i was getting half throttle and way less cut out under load.... i'm off to just buy a cap, rotor, wires, and plugs just to totally eliminate that question. then come back and check out the tps (thanks Ricearu and zukiru)
  3. have you bought the wheels yet? i've been wanting to see what a set of 225/50/15 on 15x8's look like
  4. so the throttle position sensor might be bad? i didn't even think of that, do you think i should check it out or just put the other one i have on it to see?
  5. the problem came about around a week after i made the exhaust, but i'll try anyways. i tried just swapping to my spare motor's maf sensor and it ran the exact same, do they go out very often? could i just have two bad ones?? i'm not sure if the compression is the problem because it almost feels like and electric switch that goes off or on to make it run right or crappy. its really hard to explain thank you for all the help so far
  6. theres no cat, the exhaust is about 4 feet long with only a home made glass pack in it. thanks though
  7. here's my situation, i have a 85 gl-10 turbo wagon with an odd new problem. just recently it has lost all power at anything above a hair throttle, when you lightly step on the gas it will rev a bit very smooth then like a switch will go to tripping over itself. i don't know if i am explaining it right but here's what it does... starts up perfect idles at around 800 rpms and revs clean, sounds really healthy. then the instant i get going even nice and slowly it runs like poop. once i hit about 3000 rpms and hold it with very light throttle it will like cut to running smooth again. if that made sense to anyone at all here's what i've done so far -checked compression cylinders 2,3,4 at 110 and #1 and 100. -checked spark seems totally fine and good on all cylinders -checked injectors, one seemed weird (unplugged it and motor ran about the same) so swapped in one off my spare motor. -checked timing 1 degree off put it back to 25 -replaced fuel filter (just today right before posting) none of these things helped at all, i am desperate for any suggestions oh yeah on a side note i put the fatty set of tires off my old car on it because the ones on it were super crappy, no fender trimming and only hit the top of the fender on big bumps. i say this because i had to trim my old cars fenders i'm assuming because of the front end damgae it had. 15x8 rims with 205/65r15 tires that's a 25.5" tire!
  8. all good now, thanks for the help. a mouse made a home right inbetween the left strut tower and firewall while i was away at college. he chewed the vacuum line right in half. i just rerouted the line a bit and now my 4wd works.
  9. ok that might be a clue. i know that click sound that i should be hearing, and im not hearing it now. so do those solenoids usually go out?
  10. been i while, but here's my problem: my car will not go into 4wd. i hit the button and it does nothing, no noises or anything. i searched a bit and have concluded to check the vaccuum lines/tank thing (the white one right behind the strut tower. right?) and the lines going from it. my main question is if anyone else has had this issue, and what was wrong? thanks all ps - never realized how horrible fwd is in the snow till now lol
  11. im in bellingham, i might be able to pick it up
  12. awesome! how much are you gonna want for it?
  13. oh. and to top it off i just looked at my spare ea82t and the same part is broken the exact way. sweet
  14. yup so are those solenoids expensive or something?
  15. as for the oil i think the problem was that im an idiot. i had a old rag wrapped around the MAF sensor as the air filter, i think that was sucking oil from the pcv vent inbetween the maf and turbo. probably not the whole problem but the reason for the mass amount of oil. the problem i just found.... i never had this motor idling quite right, i assumed it was the combonation of old gas and maybe not so good sparkplugs. i found that i have a loose vaccume line also the spot that it should be connected. it looks like an important one, heres a pic side note i never notice i had different ones of these
  16. thanks for the note on the pcv valve, i haven't got a chance to get to it yet (don't feel like getting soaked with rain) but hopefully tonight when i do i'll be sure to check that thing.
  17. i'll go check that now, and i didn't even think about that file name - oops thanks for posting the pic for me
  18. sorry im not up to speed, whats the "plenum" and there was alot in the throttle body
  19. the motor is from an automatic car, but its now hooked up to a 5sp. i didn't see how oil could be coming from that thing. so its the pcv system or a bad turbo? thanks for the quick replys
  20. i just finished puting this running motor into my project car, but now it is shooting tons of white smoke. i open it up to check it out, and now i think this thing is shooting tons of oil into my motor. what is this? like this much oil
  21. i had the exact same problem with the intake manifold just about a year ago now.
