ok guys since this board has been so helpful, i got a freebie for ya.i just took out my 85 brat 1.8,3 spd. automatic trans 4wd. the case is cracked so anything u want from the (inside) of the tranny is urs for the shipping,im going to take it apart tomarrow 1-26-04 and u can just email me for ur request ok? and please email me only cause i get to my email alot quicker .thnx beachbum got rid of almost all of it hope it helps thnx troy

thank u all and yes it is a 3at 2wd auto-tranny in a 85 brat.and skip ur advice was very helpful cool no i can go on to the next problem

ok guys i warned u i`d be back,got my engine in and running fairly good today,took it out for a run and it wouldnt shift into 3rd gear till about 55,now i took this tranny(and engine)out of a 80 gl stationwagon,and it ran fine in there,but i couldnt get it to shift into 3rd any sooner than 55,now i switched vac,lines and checked the linkage,but to no avail.it still does the same thing and 1st and 2nd shift fine and right on time. any ideas? thnx once again for any and all help,and dont worry if i get this fixed ill be back cause the next thing is rebuilding the old 1.8 or putting a bigger engine and different trans next

ok i know most of u arent local to me,(in st.pete,fl.) but i figured some of u might have some good contacts down here. i can look in the book for any old mech. but just wanted to see if there were any good recommendations for a good mech. down here to rebuild my ea81 85 brat motor? thnx again for any and all help, beachbum

agree with snowman,i just had the same problem on my mustang,no matter how much i bled i kept getting air,so i gravity bled them and they work great now!just be sure and open all 4 and keep the mastercylinder full,i`d fill it 2 or 3 times just to make sure.gluck

ok guys heres my new question of the wk. found out why my gauges were not working turns out the little computer board behind the gauges has a break in 1 of the lines,so i have to replace it no problem though i can get 1 easy from the junkyard here. my question though is----since i have to go to the junkyard anyway can i use a digital dash in the(since mine is analog)?? its been awhile but i believe the last digital dash i saw had the same type of plugs in the back? let me know ur thoughts on this its a 1985 brat gl 1.8 auto,4wd..appreciate ur input getting me another step closer to finishing this project.

hey guys just wanted to let u know i checked everything possible and i think its down to the switch wiring and thnx to rick hes sending me 1 to try out.hope it works,but dont worry still going to need alot more help:D

hey ma-fia , the junkyard by me has at least 10 roo`s from sedans to wagons and the windshields r $35.99 each and i think a $4.00 core if u really want 1 let me know what other models will fit and i will see if they have it? sorry u have to come down and do the labor though,last time i tried to pull 1 i cracked 2 before i gave up.

sorry no windshield,but alot of other parts iw ill be listing in the next few days from an 80 stationwagon,lights switches etc.or if ur in a hurry just email me and i will see if i got what u need,and dont know wendy rich, but there is a nice ducati shop here off of u.s19 dont know the owner though sorry goldwing man myself..

ok guys after looking at all ur posts(thank u) ive decided with ur help that it is not the relays and after reading GL`s post i`ve decided to try and see if it is my iggy causing the problem.ill try that tomarrow and with any luck ill repost and let u know but dont worry i`ve got a bunch more problems with this truck that im going to need ur help on:D

yes i checked the ground wire i didnt even find that until i tried another dash to see if that was it(but to no avail)and yes it does have and works ac,and they r the 3 little gold relays i am talking about also.the reason i thought they might have something to do with it is the temp wire to the block goes into that bunch of wires and also the oil sending unit.keep the suggestions coming and ill keep trying thnx oh yes and p.s i did check the fuse by the coil also.

ok can any1 tell me what the relays are by the coil on a 85 brat 1.8?reason im asking is all my gauges stopped working at the same time and i checked all the wiring and fuses under the dash,so im wondering if those relays have anything to do with it,and the book is no help as to that,if u do know and can help would u let me know what they r in the order of from the passengers fender towards the driver side?so i know which 1 does what? thnx for any and all help (newbie)beachbum
