  1. The car in great shape..it's a limited edition, all leather, upgraded sound system,, nothing more than parking lot dings, no sun faded paint..garage kept it's entire life, low miles 78,000, newer tires and brake pads etc.,air filter every 20,000, oil changed every 3,000 to 4,000 miles; j
  2. At this point I am waiting to hear back from Subaru not expecting much from them but one never knows. i will try removing the thermostat, using a flush and then a HD gasket repair fluid..with a money back guarantee i can't go too far wrong. Lets hope Subaru steps up and does the repair.. In the letter they did say they'd cover the cost of a head gasket repair if you had it done on youir own???
  3. Also in doing research couldn't this be just a bad radiator cap..not holding pressure so and letting water out into the reservoir which over flows on the ground; so loosing fluid until the car over heats??? New cap..
  4. This is what i have will yours swap out with no wiring issues, is it the same unit? PS right now there is one on Ebay for $20
  5. I tried cleaning the Cd player with one of those cleaning disks no luck. The player takes in a CD, spins it around for a couple of seconds and then spits it back out. Any ideas what's wrong? AND!!! is there a source for buying a replacement single CD player that fits in the 1999 Outback Limited besides a Subaru dealer?
  6. I have sources for my motorcycles and figured there must be some one who is hosting a web page for downloading Subaru manuals..I need one for the 99 outback limited.I am trying to remove the CD/radio.
  7. I am doing the same thing. Single disk change just spits out the CD and won't play them..so I want to remove the changer and clean it. Are the two screws in the ashtray holder on the top of the holder..screwed into the bottom of the radio bracket about 3" in? They are the only ones I can see/feel..what a bear if those are the ones you have to take out!!! I have taken out the drink holder.
  8. Any chance you have a part number or a site for a diagram or it's correct name or ??? No one seems to know what this part is....
  9. I had my oil pump replaced a few weeks later my "splash guard" blew off. The shop says they will replace it but they say Subaru says that it's just two triangular corner pieces I saw a long narrow piece in my rear view when it went. Any one know if there is some piece that runs the width of the car just behind the front bumper from wheel well to wheel well. Or a site that I can go to to look through for parts diagrams? Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the responses, I am out of here for a few days but will get back on this after the weekend..
  11. I have a 99 outback limited with the stock CD player no stack just a single disk player. Well, it started spitting the disk back out without playing them. It this this once before, so I sprayed into the slot with some compressed air and it fixed it. I assumed dirty heads. This no luck with the spraying it with compressed air. First any other things to try without taking anything apart. Second how hard is and what has to come off/out of the dash to get the unit out and is it something one should attempt in their garage?
  12. Thanks for all the info. I am going to watch it for now. Which wires in a few days and maybe install new plugs after that. I'll post what happens in a week or so. Great site, good folks, good info fast responses..I'll be back to help or ask more questions.
  13. If the wire(s) or plug (s) are bad why wouldn't the code show again fairly quickly?? I don't want to drive around and slowly be killing my cat due to misfiring and fuel going into the cat. But I don't want to replace stuff that doesn't need it either. Also I brought some plugs two years ago, autolites 3924's and that's what I have been running gas mileage 22/23 MPG. Seems to be OK? But I have been reading that one should only use OEM NGK's. This is on a 99 Outback Limited 2.5.
  14. I plan on leaving the wires reversed for a few days of driving if the light doesn't come on I figure it was a fluke and not anything really wrong. Then I plan on switch back just to keep the numbers on the wires and cylinders matched correctly. Cause later I may forget that I switch them. Does sound like a reasonable plan?
