its an 86 brat. i hate to cut them because they are rust free but it will look so bad rump roast after the bfgoodrich at go on there.

iv been reading about the porsche 914. my budy has one i was thinkin about buying. it has no eng/trans. just trying to learn more about a subaru convertion. im still looking around but i figured i would drop a line here to just to feel it out.

good luck man. document as much as possable. keep us updated. they seem like such a good deal on ebay for such a cool engine. bummer that not to many people have done the swap. i would love to do this to my brat but i think i might just do the ej2.2 for now to learn and then if you have much luck ill would like to yank that out and go with a meaner engine. im new at the engine swap thing and i think i had better keep it simple to start. also where did you get that motor and did it come with the wiring? thanx man have a good one.

just wondering. i made some crazy piece for the linkage since the tranny sits down so far now. just wondering what everybody else did.

your tellin me. i took it out in the snow for probably it second time ever(first was the night before in the night pic) and got sooooooo stuck. i let the clutch out and it idled all 4 spinng. i was i a construction site that im sure nobody wanted me in and near the road. just waiting to get busted. i finally got out. buy bashing though some bushes and trees over a bank on to the road. hit a stake bent the exhaust into the driveshaft. slow leak in the frount right and put a bigass crease down the drivers door. uuuuggggg!!!! oh well. I need new-bigger anything tires have got to be better than crappy rump roast wal-mart speacial baldies. no more off roading till then.

i didnt put that thing up behind the seats. i never use it. ill look tomorrow and give you some more info.

the seats fit very snug. i swaped out the seat rails from the brat and then drilled holes and bolted them up. drilled two holes in the seats for the rear two bolts to bolt to the brat seat rails. then bolted the inside rail right into the stock place which offsets the outside bolts about an inch. i just drilled and bolted no biggie. as far as slide... yes. maybe not great. oh ill add pics. stock inside bolt and bolt hole. hard to see but new outside hole offset about an inch

im not really sure but there was 3 svxs there. i can find out whatever you need. the rest of that car was perfect minus the tree to the frount bumper. one of the cleanest iv seen. only 100k

my first brat (79)only had 79K and now my new one (86)has 115k

when i was 13 14 15. all i wanted was a toyota mr2turbo. my dad aways said "you should get brat. i loved my brat" i said the same thing why??? "i had so much fun in mine and you can put your bike in the back" he always said that the brat was the most fun 4 wheeling because it was such a challenge and you could go everywhere as long as you could pick good lines. i always loved technical driving and riding. anyway i found a 79 brat with the seats. loved it!!! my friends and i had so much fun in it. always somthin crazy. and alway had a smile on our faces laughing about bombing through snow banks or anything really. i moved and had to sell it. next car was a 98 2door 2.2l. i put studed snow tires on that and took it everywere. people craped there pants. so i dragged a little. gave that to my sister she still has it. got an 85 turbo rx. same thing and now im back in a 86brat. i just joined this website but i freekn love it. i was always to odd ball with the subaru. especialy before the wrxs came out. now i think iv found my home. i have no idea what draws us to them but there is love there. i even caught my soon to be wife looking at an old wagon. she said DAMNIT now you have me doin it. awesome thread!!! you guys all rock
