  1. Is this a dealer only part? how much$? Thanks again
  2. So I am getting oil splashing up my breather and getting induced in my induction system? Does this cause damage to the vehicle? Best fix to do? Thanks
  3. Well I took a turn around left hand banked turn in my 90' loyale and looked behind me and there was SMOKE?!!! no loss in oil pres, temp normal, it smoked for a few seconds and stopped, no power loss, nothing. NOW the subie does leak oil (as you can see form my other threads) from the drivers side cam area, could the oil of just leaked on the hot exhaust pipe during the turn and flashed? or is this something else?? Thanks, S *When I bought the car is compression tested just fine 165ish on all 4, no oil in coolant, quite running engine, only problem I have noticed is the oil leak (which I will fix soon) and the annunciator panel "check engine" and "oil" lights are out (which I will fix as well).
  4. though I am new to subies I do believe that if a rodent died in a heat duct and had hot air blowing over it into your face, unless you were one pungent individual you would QUICKLY realize something got in there lol
  5. Well I have been swamped. Check the thing out and I get +12vdc on the green wire, guess it's the motor. what is the best way to check the resistors before I get the motor? Thanks, S
  6. Well when you say shallow speakers they need to be SHALLOW, those guys at subaru made these cars suck ballz when it come to mounting non OEM speakers (but I think the subie makes up for it in other areas lol!). Anyway, one option for just doing it is to mount them on the outside of the kick panel (which I begrudgingly did, as I didnt care too much about the OEM ascetics of this car). This is the thread I started on this thing, has some pics of the other ways of mounting, I have a 90' loyale and it's 6.5 factory.
  7. I'de say a quart every 300mi or so, so it is (for me) a major leak. drivers side toward front of engine, near the skid plate. What's the consensus? What would it cost to have fixed near western WA, as I dont have all my tool boxes at my disposal right now. Kinda debating if I want to buy a tool kit and do it myself for just get someone else to do it, depends on price / time Thanks
  8. it leaking enough to see it on the dipstick, so what is evolved in the fix?
  9. Well I am loosing oil in my new car (90' Loyale), it compression tested 170ish on all 4, so it's not burning oil, also I can see the leak on the ground; this wont do! The oil is leaking on the drivers side near the front, any common leaks in that area, and what is involved it replacing the faulty gasket???? I hate the way people dont know how to drive or maintain cars, the whole "well it be almost 20 years old" dumb azz BS response drives me nuts, I have flown in planes built in the 40s and they dont leak, burn or anything, as there are regulations overhauls/inspections....anyway lol! can one of you subie gurus help me out here Thanks!
  10. Yea I checked all the critical fuses, then I called my local subaru shop (all wheel drive auto in Kirkland, THEY ROCK!!!) and they told me about that dumb fuse, sure enough. But in my own defense I am used to american cars (one of the purposes of this car is to keep the miles off my gas guzzlin' babys lol) so I never would of thought to check that fuse. Every car has it's learning curve...
  11. Welp I figured it out... Hazard, clock & horn fuse lol. life is good again
  12. Well I unplugged the square connector to the coil closest to the top and it's making 11-12v (I only have a cheap little analog mm to use) but it may only be making 11v. I also tried to jump the car last night to no avail.
  13. Well I checked both sides before w/ a multimeter and with the negative probe on ground, the postive probe on the links; all the connections were making 12v. I will check the coil now.
  14. Well it pulled this chit once before when I was buying it, I compression tested it w/ the coil wire off. I had the drives door open the whole time, and cranked it a few times too. When I reconnected it wouldnt start (cranked normal but didnt go). The next day when I went back to pick it up started right up Dont know if this is the same thing.
  15. They just look like wires going from one terminal to another...how do I check em? Well just googled it, I took my mm and checked the tops of all the little jumper wires in that black box by the batt and they all show 12v. Also no fuses blown in main blade style fuse box by the drivers leg.
  16. Well the only wires I used were the ones I knew worked (as the harness to the old deck had the flags on constand ing etc., those are the only ones I used. But yea everything is out now, also pulled one speaker, but I put it back in, so now it's got all the OEM speakers in, deck out, no start, I will check the links now.
  17. Well I went to install my new deck today, the old owner just spliced a old pioneer harness into the wires to I had to cut that out and put a new (sony in), well I figured I wanted to first get the deck to fire up then do in all the speakers (as I have yet to find a definitive source for what color is what). Anyway I get the constant, ign., illumination, and ground; turn the key....NOTHING....hmm try to turn the car over (for whatever reason) and NOTHING, the damn thing wont start, cranks but no start, I had just driven it like one hour before! w...t...f no fuses blown no power to the deck, but everything else works I have a low batt light on when I turn the key to accs but it still cranks fast headlights, wipers, blah blah works. but nothing to the deck? What the hell!!!!!
  18. WRONG... unless they are abnormally SHALLOW they will not fit. I am going the "easy route" as this a daily driver that I bought w/ a few dents in it and whatnot, so I will just mount them outside. My speakers are 6.5" and 2.8" deep and there is no way one could mount them in the same way the factory did, even w/ spacers; they would ether be to far out to put the factory grille/door panel back on or they would hit the window regulator. what a PITA. can anyone ID these wire colors, looks like the old owner didnt get the harness adapter, just opted to splice and dice. I really like my new Subie, but when it comes the stereo they suck compared my Camaro. * oh yea this is on a 90' Loyale THANKS
  19. Can the speakers be mounted behind the OEM door grilles?
  20. Well I am going to get to it tomorrow, did you guys who mounted the 6 & 6.5" speakers have to remove the stock grille? Thanks, -S
  21. AWSOME guys thanks! Where is this "keeping your Subaru alive" at?
