  1. thx looks like one of the places an hour and a half away has 2, will have to give them a call
  2. havent checked the pick n pull for a bit but they never seem to have the older GL's around me. its always the ej's
  3. http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/pts/4192514950.html so i have a 86 gl wagon 5spd fwd with a blown motor and i need a new one bad. the car has been sitting for over 3 years now since it blew and i need to get it going so i can have a reliable commuter. any input on if this motor would work will be appreciated, or if anyone knows of a relatively cheap ea82 motors in wa i would be interested in that also since i just need to get the car going and dont know enough about the ej22 swap to feel comfortable to do it myself
  4. finally quit being lazy and installed mine, the old one was completely smooth like it never had teeth to begin with
  5. thx for the offer but Subruise already hooked it up with one
  6. haha yea i wish it was 4wd so i could have done that, i actually have been on the lookout for a 4wd gl wagon for a bit but i want one thats in decent shape so i can depend on it for my daliy
  7. fack well i guess its off to the junkyard in hopes of finding a hub then unless somone one has one layin around i can buy from them
  8. so i had to have my 86 gl wagon fwd towed today because it finally gave up the go. it had been makin noise outta the front drivers side wheel for a week and i thought i could gimp it along till this weekend when i get paid to do the braks since it sounded like the pad was really low, but when i went to go up a hill the car was going then all of a sudden the speedo and rev just jumped up like it wasnt having to power anything anymore and my car coasted to an awesome stop. i put it into gear and it made a horrible grinding noise out of the front drivers side tire so i set the brake and popped the hood to see that the axle was spinning but the tire was not, even the axle nut on the outside of the rim was spinning:eek: so my question is this a classic wheel bearing failure or is it something more?
  9. haha yea it is hard to read that was my first option since i have the book. i think i got it since the car seems to be running ok now, the heat is jumping around a little but im guessin i got a air bubble in there so ill just drain and refill. anyways thanks for the various help from ppl:banana:
  10. yea i checked that out before but it still the same unfortunatly
  11. yea unfortunatly they dont list the carbed version under the vaccum section and the actual carb section (2-6) is completly gone but o well at least now i have everything else but here are colored pics of what im trying to figure out so hopefuly this can help me get this fixed finally haha. i colored the lines so they are the same colors in all the pics. also i have no idea what the purple one is below the carb???
  12. yea i was able to download then thanks alot. now if i cant do it i have problems haha
  13. no not yet i went to the local pull apart to try and find some parts and see if there were any motors i could use as a guide but the only untouched one was a fuel injected ea82 so it didnt help, but i was able to get a subaru shop manual out of the back of it. its for a 90 legacy it had the motor book and the electrical book so it was a bad day
  14. so for whatever reason i moved the car forward in gear about half a foot and it starts up just fine now. with that being said i know for a fact that the vacuum lines on the passenger side of the engine bay are not hooked up right so i need some pictures. i have been searching on here for a while and i cant find anything relating to what i need and the stupid sticker under the hood is useless so any help would be appreciated
  15. yea whatever works i was rather tired yesterday as it was an 2 hrs after i usually crash out so im going to dink with it today with a clear head thats not tired haha. yea im free till 230pm on thursday if you can make it on thurs if not then friday and sat are fine
  16. Hey i just finished putting my gl wagon back together after a engine reseal and now its not wanting to do anything when i turn the key on. i am able to turn the hazards on and the radio gets power but the interior lights dont turn on or the gauge cluster, and the windows dont work. also im not getting the tick tick sound from under the hood which you get just from turning the key to the on position. and obviously when i try to turn the key to turn it over it does nothing. also i have checked all the dash fuses and they are all good and i checked the 3 cord fuses above the ignitor and they are good. so with that being said does anyone have any suggestions as to what i could have missed or is anyone be willing to come down to the orting (5 minutes from puyallup) area so i can stare at their working motor to see what i missed. ill throw in some gas money for your troubles. anyway i work nights so it would be nice if we could meet between 9am-1am (somewhere in that window) if somebody is willing to come down. call me if you can anytime it doesnt matter 253 380 3250
  17. i ordered mine through rock auto and it was kinda a pretty penny but o well i guess
  18. i have seen both done before on different cars (non subarus) and personally out of all the ones ive seen it looks the best if you do the pillers also especially if you have tinted windows. I think it looks best when you do have your windows tinted but thats just my personal opinion your may be different
  19. So i have been blindly going about my business for the past couple of days while freezing my but off to finally have a light bulb go off in my head that hey my subaru still has water in it instead of anti-freeze..... Now granted its been leaking coolant from a bad rad plug and maybe head gaskets and thats why its not running anti-freeze since i planned on doing a engine reseal soon.(just got the parts the other day) So i went out and tried starting it and the water pump was frozen in place. Went back out later on in the day and it started up fine and i let it get to normal temp and held it at about 2.5k idle and i noticed no leaks or any water under the car. Now granted i know there were major air pockets in the cooling system since it had been about a week prior since i had filled the cooling system. That being said since there were no leaks and the car ran fine for 1/2 hour is it safe to say that the engine is still safe with no damage from the expanding ice? Or is there other problems that I am unaware of?
  20. i dont know if its just me or not but that picture deffinately reminds me of a few places ive been around in washington state, that just some nice scenery hands down
  21. o yea sounds like fun im getting ready to do the breaks on mine for the first time and in figured they were push in. but the screw pistons are common on rear brakes as my mr2 has them. this is the tool that us mr2 guys use im not sure if it will fit the subaru but when i get to changing out the brakes ill let yall know http://www.oem-tools.com/product_info.php?products_id=1369
