  1. Thanks a ton. I'll save that for future reference. Now my only problem is that I don't have a torque drill so I can't tell how much I've torqued the axle nut.
  2. Ok, I got my dad to lend me $100 and just ordered it. I pick it up tomorrow since Shucks isn't open today. Now I just need the stuff to install it. I didn't get to do the install with my coworker so I have no clue on how to do this. So once again, help?
  3. I'm trying my hardest to get $100 to buy a brand new axle and be done with it. I just don't know how I'm gonna replace it here.
  4. Alright I just replaced the drivers side CV Joint on my 89.5 RX EA82T 4EAT. I got it off of a coworkers Turbo wagon and it worked pretty good for a few weeks. Last night I was heading home and the axle broke. Making all kinds of noise and caused the car to wobble and steer strange. I took a look at it and it doesn't appear to have caused any damage to the brake lines, rotor or calipers. But now I'm stuck in Yelm with no money and no way to fix my car. I don't have the press or torque drill or anything. Merry fricken christmas huh? Anyways; I have no clue what to do now. My repair manual is up in Tacoma and I have very limited tools here. :-\ Help please?
  5. My bumper only has a couple of scratches, so it I don't intend on replacing it. I'll just buff it out before it goes to paint. As for the fender, the trim pieces aren't damaged, but the metal is crumpled a bit.
  6. Well, I've finally been in my first accident. Driving down Pearl St. in Tacoma, some idiot in a Riced Out Gray Honda Accord, slammed on his brakes and spun into me, causing me to spin out. Fortunately, I corrected it so I didn't hit anyone or anything else, but I ended up backwards on Pearl St. The idiot ran after he got traction back, I tried to find out where he went, but it was no good. Pulled into the parking lot and checked it out. My drivers side front fender and bumper were hit. I have a few scratches on the bumper, and my fender is bent in. But no other damage. Had the alignment looked at and it was fine. I'm still pretty ticked off at this point. But, I'm going to need a new fender, although not immediately. It's a 1989.5 RX, Black w/ gold stripes. ------------- Also, if anyone see's a 92-95 Gray Honda Accord sedan with a roof rack, and super tiny chrome exhaust tip with right rear fender/door damage driving around in the North End, post up on here would ya please? I hate hit and runs.
  7. Lol, that might help. But I'll have to wait to go down to my dads place to get that done. I have almost nothing as far as tools here at my apartment.
  8. The ignition works just fine, so it's not the key. It's all of my locks seem to be rusted/seized or whatever. I did pick up some spray de-icer this morning. That didn't help at all. So I'm probably going to have to call the locksmith. Either that or replace my door locks.
  9. 1989 RX EA82T 4EAT Alright... yesterday evening as I was trying to head to work and I went to unlock my car. All locks frozen. I finally took some boiling water and heated up my driver side lock. Well, that helped somewhat. I turned my key and it unlocked, but the key snapped off. :-\ After a few moments, I finally got the portion of the key out. This isn't the first time I've had problems with unlocking my car. Sometimes it would have trouble turning and I'd often bend my key. On top of this my hatch keyhole has completely stopped working. And my passenger side rarely works. My RX of course has the electric door lock. I don't know if it was ever Keyless entry at some point (Did they even offer that on these?); though having that ability would be wonderful. So, any idea's on repairing this? Or even getting into my car without using the key? (I've definitely got to lock my car, downtown Tacoma and whatnot). Thanks!
  10. I have a boost sensor on my 89 RX... Turbo light comes on when there is positive PSI. :-\
  11. 89 RX, 2600lbs+/-, 175 60r 13's, EA82T W/ Intake and Cat-back exhaust. 47K miles on the engine. On Premium: 22-26 MPG. On Regular: 25-28 MPG. On ARCO/BP: 20-25 MPG. On Premium+OctaneBooster+Injector: 33 MPG!!! (Just did this two weeks ago.)
  12. The cargo cover I have, the springs are screwed up and the canvas is torn. That box is pretty heavy. 86lbs.
  13. Yeah, for being mostly stock, it's smooth. Super quiet exhaust. What you're hearing is all engine noise.

  15. This happened to me about a month ago with a vacuum leak. Everytime I was at a stoplight or whatnot, the engine would putter and almost die if I didn't rev it. I found the leak. It was an unhooked vacuum line the day after I put my turbo and intake back on. As soon as I plugged that up, it ran and idled fine.
  16. I really want bolt pattern adapters. Less work to the better.
  17. Do they ever carry the microbus version of the Sambar? I'd jump all over it if they did.
  18. ^^I'm assuming that bottom one is from a FWD EA82T?
  19. Yet... I can not find one in my area that is for sale. I check CL every day for the VW Kombi or Sambars... nothing has come up. I'd rather not spend $6000+ to have a newer one shipped to the US. Anyone in the Pacific Northwest know of anyone who has a Sambar they would like to sell or just one sitting somewhere? Engine doesn't have to be perfect, but I would seriously like to have one. Seems like a great little putter for long trips on back highways. Also, any issues with the vehicle that I should know about? Cool things people have done with them? Any help would be great! Thanks!
  20. Maybe the Loyale base model? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/20/Subaru-GL10.jpg/800px-Subaru-GL10.jpg
  21. Uh oh! I went to Autozone, Shucks and NAPA to find a suitable hose to replace it... Nothing they had would fit that bend without kinking. So I'm going to probably get copper tubing that will work with the bend and then fab some heater hose couplers to fit it to the coolant inlet/outlet flange. I must say, getting that turbo off was a helluva lot harder than I thought it would be. The oil outlet line was the worst though. Did not want to come off at all. Hard to get at as well. I'm actually looking at removing my cat from my DP, and going with a simple resonated DP to improve flow. Hell, the cash I'd get for scrap from the Cat would be enough to weld me up a DP with a pipe resonator. I don't have emissions where the car is registered, so I don't have to really worry about that. Also, does anyone happen to have a stock intake pipe from the turbo to the MAF? I need another one because the one I had had a split in it and broke off when I was installing my intake. Here's a pic of my current setup (Yeah, I know the MAF is upside down, I fixed that after I took the pic.) http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/6311/file0082ll5.jpg ----------- Again, this is just a temporary setup until I get the intercooler ready to be installed. When that happens, I'll have enough clearance to put that GIANT FRIGGEN FILTER. I hadn't realized how big it was until I went to map out how I needed to install my intake. I'm gonna dremel out the wheel well and make it a true CAI or just cut me a vent so I get some awesome airflow into the engine bay. Or else, I'm just choking the engine. -------------------- Lots of typing, so cliff notes: 1) Couldn't find the right hose, have to go to Subaru Dealer. 2) Turbo was hard to get off 3) Gonna go to a catless DP. 4) Need a stock intake pipe, mine broke.
  22. Woohoo! Got off the turbo and took the line off. I found the culprit that was leaking. Just a small slit, no bigger than 1mm in length. I'm actually replacing ALL of my hoses today, and hopefully, tomorrow the car will be drivable. Gotta get a hood scoop ASAP though.
  23. Yar! I lost the internet and phone for a few days. Tomorrow I'm going to be taking my Turbo off and replacing the line, and hopefully after that, I'll be up and running. I've soaked my bolts and whatnot with liquid screw remover stuff on Friday, and then I'm gonna soak it again then start removing stuff. I also got my intake installed finally. The pipe mapping is just temporary until I install the Intercooler and then it'll work a little better.
  24. But the part is, I'm gonna have to take the turbo off to get to it?
