  1. I hear that! I'm a Honda nut myself. But I'm sticking with my soob. My hondas couldn't stand up to my driving. electrical and plumbing is sound on hondas. But I have never had a subaru boxer engine smoke, and I run my cars a little hard from time to time. But my current subaru I'm actually taking care of It's a toss up really in my opinion. They both in the end seem to come up about equal.
  2. Don't just focus on HP numbers and you might make a little more progress. Legacy's are frickin HEAVY! Drop some of that dead weight.
  3. how many miles do you have on it? Also how religious are you on the maintence? My legacy was doing almost the same thing. But after a new fuel filter, fuel system flush, and plugs it ran awesome. Haven't had a problem since. But I'm fairly certain this might not be the case for you.
  4. Wow thats horrible. Glad your okay though. Sorry I couldn't make it guys. I was called into work at the last minute. There is an XT6 for sale in denver. It's a REAL fixer upper. But if you're desperate for one. Oh yeah and it's an auto too..such a drag. But it's at a hole in the wall dealership off of Santa Fe and Union. Something like advaced auto works. just glad no one got hurt.
  5. well not really sure. I'm sure you probably put the same amp fuse in to replace the blown one. Also is the light for your boost gauge wired into your dimmer switch? I hardly doubt it would affect it at all but it might be worth a check. P.S. remember to disconnect the battery when doing electrical work on your car. Saves you bundles on fuses after a few years
  6. If that doesn't work. Rubbing alchole (sp?). Just clean again with glass cleaner afterwards to remove the streaks. This is also good for removing that pesky armorall that gets on the gauge cluster windows.
  7. sounds like you might want to check that the radiator isn't clogged either for the over heating problem.
  8. Ah yes wyotech. I had a friend who attended there. The first time I ever saw a student with a leaf blower on a 3 inch lifted metro...seriously. I used to be the same way. I've learned life is too short to argue over what someone thinks my or their car has. But if it really bugs you that much you could print out the specifications online of the years or just pop the hood
  9. I beleive that is the Spedometer cable...as for leaking.....not really sure but make sure your tranny isn't over filled.
  10. Hmmm this is interesting. I was just thinking the same thing yesterday. I don't mean to change the subject. But my question is, would anyone happen to know if the older skid plates could maybe be modified to put on my 97 legacy? I was thinking about fabricating my own but that would be a bit easier.
  11. Count me in. I was pulling some wicked doughnuts in a parking lot the other week in middle of the night. Got it in mpeg format too Will have to get around to uploading em.
  12. Hmmm looks to me like a cross of a pontiac vibe/ Nissan Murano (lets jsut hope it doesn't have the 4 ft dash like it) and a very little bit of outback in the rear. Frankly. I don't like it.
  13. Kind of hard to tell from the picture. But in my opinion the belt does look to be drying out a bit. Not exactly an emergency but just something to remember to get around too.
  14. I kinda have the same problem with mine. I can't get the other 3 doors to unlock unless I am really close to the vehicle. It just does the faint clicking noise on the drivers side door. As for a fix I really don't have one figured out yet. I've been contemplating putting in a whole different system and alarm.
  15. I will agree with the headgasket too. One way to check. Open up your coolant tank. And take a nice sniff of it. If it's tarty/exhaust smelling. There ya go. The head gasket problems won't show up usually on normal testing. Also there is the possibility that it could just be some air. But when I had my head gasket failure. Same exact symptoms. I replaced the same exact things too. Personally I don't trust my car with any shop. Especially when it comes to coolant. I may be a motor head. But I will never let anyone touch the cooling system in my car, not even myself. I let the dealer handle all that.
  16. Ah yes the justy...the only inline subaru that I know of. Wasn't it Isuzu who made the 3 cylinder inline inside the justy? Not a big fan of Isuzu either. But heard some stories about how the justy's were still tough.Hmmm that would be fun to put an ea-71 in a justy.
  17. oh gawd kill me now. I'm sorry but I think chevrolet and ford already own too much. Talk about monopoloy. (no offense to chevrolet owners) But I hate to see car badges on vehicles in which they had very little to no part in. As for which country it is in...I would think australia. But I could be way off on this one. Just kinda cracks me up that there is a huge population out there that claims japanesse cars "suck" and to buy an american made car. Hmmmm well what is that "American" car....looks like a Japanesse forrestor to me. If I recall chevrolet took part ownership of subaru back in 1998 I think. I never thought I would see it as going as far as chevrolet badges on the subarus. Hmmm I wonder...is there going to be a metro with a subaru badge now??? or an AWD Cavalier with a subaru badge? LMAO
  18. So it's about 6 degrees outside right now. And my subaru is acting a bit different. For starters the tire pressure is fine. But the car really extremely shakes now on the highway at any speed above 55mph. I went to the car wash and blasted all the ice in my fenderwells out. Car ran smooth for the rest of the drive. Later on tonight when I got back on the highway same thing. I don't know what's up with that...any thoughts? Second thing thats kinda bugging me. When I start the car now it wants to die right away. I had to start it 3 times this evening. Even after the engine has warmed up if I shut of the engine and come back to it a few seconds later it still dies right after start up. Is this normal for subarus in the cold? I've never had a car react like this from it just being really cold out. So I doubt it's the cold but figured I would post and see if anyone had some insight on this.
  19. Holy crap I know a guy named Patrick Monoghan...weird...this pretains to nothing.
  20. if you pull your plugs get at those buggers from under the car. It makes it a lot easier. When I did my plugs I had to put the socket and extension in first...then connect the ratchet. But I seriously bet the dealership did replace your plugs. They are seriously worried about CSI reports. But check em anyways. You never know you might be a one in the million that the mechanic spaced putting them in or something. Generally whenever I've had a misfire in the past. It's been the wires.
  21. Indeed I don't think I will ever get rid of all my 80's cars. They just don't build em like they used to. I heard somewhere that car manufactors these days are building cars to last 1 owner. Just goes to show everyone wants money money money.
  22. Exactly what I was about to say. I would never in my life buy a used wrx. You know how many ungratefull 16yr olds I see driving them around in my town? It pisses me off frankly that all the 16 yr olds can get those cars from mommy and daddy. For example...before I left my job tinting for the subaru dealers. I say a brand new 04 wrx drive into the dealership with 2 week old temp tags...with the hazards on. Popped the hood and from across the parking lot I could see all the oil and coolant spewing from the car. Another example. At the 2nd subaru dealership I tinted for. I almost bout an 02 wrx with 36k miles. Good scenario same car with the same miles . Only reason I didn't buy it. Mechanic flat out told me. ABUSED...as he began replacing the transmission. If this car has a salvage title. I would completely run away. But thats just me. This is the reason I drive a legacy gt Someday I will own a brand new wrx...and I will baby it. Because at this rate...they won't be around and they will be rare.
