overheating...
Subaru X replied to Smpol19's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYeah I'm having an over heating issue myself. Already replaced the radiator cap and thermostat. But the bastard is so tempermental that I don't know if I fixed it or not. It will be fine and about 60-80 degrees outside and then from no where it just shoots up on the temp gauge. Weird thing is my heater doesn't work when it is over heating. I've bleed the radiator of any air pockets too. Looks like tomorrow will be a flush and new water pump.

2 questions about my 97 Legacy GT
Subaru X replied to Subaru X's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWow didn't think anyone would ever reply back on this one. Yeah thanks zoinks. I actually took a day to check it all out and it is the solenoid to make sure you are in park. So yup your correct. As for the stalling part. I figured out it is actually just my pressure regulator.

ATTN: Colorado Subes!
dunno if it is still there. But I do know that, that is one of the few slavage yards around here that will actually let you buy a vehicle from them and take it out of their yard. Or anyways I've been able to talk them into it.

what's smokin'?
Subaru X replied to eiremed's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOMG that thing is horrible! by the way. Did anyone tell this guy he should also drain his oil to the proper level. I mean even though it wouldn't cause the car to smoke...I wouldn't want someone having this misfortune already to be having more.

The actual street it is on is radcliff. little dumpy shop at the corner where you need to turn with a helicopter or something in the parking lot.

Damnit now I wish I still had my 78 brat. But I couldn't refuse when someone had offered me 1,500 on it nearly 6 years ago.

Spoiler problem/question
Subaru X replied to Erudite's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOkay. Well the bolt to bolt measurements on that particular looking spoiler is 41.75" The total length of the spoiler is 47.5" And it is 7" high You could bolt on the one from http://www.erebunicorp.com Wing number 650. But There would be quite a bit of nasty overhang on the spoiler and I would be worried about the structual integrity since it wouldn't be fully on the trunk lid. So in my personal opinion it wouldn't work unless you found a cheap engouh 2.5 rs spoiler and took it into a body shop to have them shorten the length of it by 1.5"

gauges not working
Subaru X replied to brondin's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI had a speedo issue once with one of my cars after rmoving the gauges. Well actually 2 issues. The first time when I pulled out the gauges I also pulled the cable out at the transmission. Another time I didn't quite get the cable in behind the gauge. It looked connected but it wasn't actually in. I'm not sure how 99 impreza gauges are set up like so this might not even help at all.

Help with a few '96 questions
Subaru X replied to toddkageals's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI don't have any info except for on number 3 there. Wetsand down the headlight covers with minimum 1,500 grit. Perferably 2,000 grit. Go on down to home depot and grab yourself a buffing disc and plastic buffing compound. Buff em up. They'll look like new. But the only problem is...after a few nice car washes...they look like crap again since the polish seems to leave or something. Look in the phone book for a suitable clear bra shop. Get a few quotes from places. Make sure they are using 3M. It's the best. Also make sure they warranty their work. At my work we give a lifetime warranty and use only 3M. The cost of 2 headlights is about $50.00. Once the clear bra is on you will hardly even notice it and it does a super job of protecting and clearing up your headlights. P.S. I would get all your materials and find a clear bra shop before wetsanding. Just in case...

Spoiler problem/question
Subaru X replied to Erudite's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMmmm those are nice spoilers. I am not sure if it would work out or not. But another option is to measure up your trunk lid. then go here http://www.erebunicorp.com they have plenty of universal spoilers that look simular to the 2.5 rs spoiler. They will give out the dimensions and everything so then you will know for sure if it will work...hmmm infact I think they have a 2.5 rs replica spoiler on there too for 95+ imprezas. That would make it a bit easier to figure out if it would work on not.

Tranny Fluid Replacement and Tranny Cooler?
Subaru X replied to ststephen's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI went with a B&M cooler. Nothing too special. Just something to add a little cooling. Part# 70268 It looks exactly like the second one down on the site you just posted.

Tranny Fluid Replacement and Tranny Cooler?
Subaru X replied to ststephen's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThat transmission cooler is a good idea. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I went out and bought one today after work. Then I got a little carried away and put STI on it in a blue metallic. Looks really cool. Had an idea. So I welded up some custom mounts for it to be sitting above the engine right under the hood scoop. I was about to remove the black plastic molding from the hoodscoop to let more airflow in when finally common sense hit me. Duh this would probably be worse. The heat from the engine rising up to the cooler would probably make matters worse. Kinda put a damper on my day. I was in the midst of making a really fake sti. So now I am sitting here thinking about just putting it up front where it belongs...or possibly a heat shield??? hmmm yeah probably up front.

Pics of the tint and my work on the car
Subaru X replied to Subaru X's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXFree server space. As for the darkness of the tint The tint is actually still drying in these pictures. Drying usually takes 2-3 days. Once the tint drys it tends to look a little bit lighter. 20% is a tiny bit illegal in colorado. I've been pulled over once with my car tinted at 20% and 6 times with it tinted at 5%. (not this car other cars of mine). The state trooper pulled out his tint meter and ran it on my car with the 20% tint. Came out just right in the limit and he let me go. But yeah now that it has dried out it is a bit lighter. And yeah the camera does seem to make it look darker too.

Pics of the tint and my work on the car
Well picked her up thursday night. Friday I gave her a nice detail, and a new tint job. Yeah I tinted the windows myself. It is what I do for a living. BTW. I am going to post an ad in the classifieds. I will tint subarus off the board here for a discounted price for anyone in the colorado general area. Down below you can see some pics of my work that I do. For every car I tint I will make a donation to the board. http://www.geocities.com/infinatezero415/newride.jpg this is what I bought her like. http://www.geocities.com/infinatezero415/subengine.jpg After I detailed the engine http://www.geocities.com/infinatezero415/subint.jpg Detailed interior http://www.geocities.com/infinatezero415/subrear.jpg the tint is about 1 hour old in this pic http://www.geocities.com/infinatezero415/subside.jpg more tint more tint http://www.geocities.com/infinatezero415/subbird.jpg Just a pic of the car from above.

Subaru number 10!!
Subaru X replied to rweddy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWOW that sounds like a good buy to me. I couldn't find one with that low of miles for that price. As for the hood scoop. A few days ago I saw an outback hoodscoop for sale on ebay for 10 bux. Not sure if it is still on there but might be worth a look. Wouldn't be hard to put the hood scoop into your existing hood.

2 questions about my 97 Legacy GT
Okay welp I picked up my 97 Legacy GT on thursday. Runs great. But I have 2 minor things going on with it. Number one, the firstday I drove it home it started fine. But when I got back in the car it started for just a few seconds and then stalled. When I restart it after this I need to push on the gas pedal. It didn't do it again till today after I have driven the car for another 300 miles. I'm thinking it just needs a tune up but I am not sure. Any thoughts? Number 2...never noticed this one till today. May have just started today. When I am shifting from park to drive (it's an automatic) I hear a clicking noise on the driverside in the dash. I can even feel a slight vibration from it on the steering wheel. Only does it when I am moving from park. Not from reverse or anything like that. I just figured maybe it had to do something with the shift lock. Anyways let me know any info on this and if I should be concerned about any of these. It's still under waranty for a couple thousand miles. So if I know it's something that needs to be taken care of I will get it to a dealer real quick like. Full spec of the vehicle is a 97 Legacy 2.5 GT Automatic with 87,000 miles if any of that helps. -Adam-

This is just Tooo-o wierd, you're gonna love it.
Subaru X replied to mtsmiths's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell my theory from years of experience...Subarus have a g-spot. The g-spot seems to be located on the accelerator pedal. Once depressing/stimulating the accelerator pedal your roo gets really excited. Thus fluid comes gushing out the back window. Sincerely, -Adam-

My new ride!
Subaru X replied to Subaru X's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe SVX is red, in Nederlands about 20 mins from boulder. The girl selling it is on vacation and won't be able to show it till mid september. She's aking 7,600 if I recal. 96 LSi with 77k miles. You can see it in autotrader.

My new ride!
Subaru X replied to Subaru X's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYeah actually I do think that is right. But was still looking for the newer imprezas even the 4doors. The 2.5 rs model. As for the subarus in washington. It's really really hard to come by a decent subaru in colorado that is not a wagon. 90% of the subarus for sale out here are wagons. I almost bought a 96 SVX LSi with 76K miles on it. But it won't be available till mid september and I really needed to get a car very soon like.

My new ride!
Subaru X replied to Subaru X's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYeah I've actually already considered that. Figure I will drive it for a year or two. Then maybe convert it over to a manual.
