  1. Hey Jerry,

How much is it for an EA81 5sp swap kit? Thanks.

    Twitch

  2. I bet it'll handle better.

And it probably won't unless they're a lot wider.

And I think your instincts are right on.

Cuz your car is shiny (and the only one in WI)

    Twitch

    PS: I'm currently looking at a Porsche 944 :D

  3. Its gettin' cold over here too!

I've just been fixing cars and working.

    And that's awesome!

My car isn't even modded, cept for the lights :-\

    Twitch

  4. Hey another AMD fan. :)

No, right now I don't have a comp with linux.

Just the family comp with Vista XP (Dead not Xp)

    Twitch

  5. Cool.

I'm probably gonna be living in Anaconda, about 15 miles NW of Butte.

I'm hoping to work at the Oreilly's in Butte, so I may see you time to time :)

    Twitch

  6. Welcome to the board!

If I may ask, what town in SW MT do you live?

I'm gonna be moving down there nearby Butte fairly soon.

    Twitch

  7. This is true.

Small house, small heating bills :)

And yeah, I'm really lucky when I was trying to charge that battery.

It was about 10* outside when I was trying to jump it, and it was about 11pm.

    Not a good combo.

    Poor tow truck driver...

    That must've sucked hardcore.

    Twitch

  8. Yeah, I saw that on the WCSS posts. Lol.

It's kinda funny, but I'm still amazed no seals have gone on that engine.

It sat for at least 3 years before I got my hands on it, and another year

before I even started tinkering with it, and it STILL hasn't leaked.

The incredibly simple superior subaru engineering, at its best.

And I'm glad you like him, even with his "rust" :-p

    Twitch

  9. Hey Bill, how did rusty do at the show?

Did he make the trip ok?

Hope to see you next year!

    Twitch

  10. Nice. and that's a tiny house too!

A bit cozy in there, huh?

My current residence with my P.U.'s (Parental Units) is about 1300 sq ft.

I'm probably gonna be moving into a house that's only 600 or so sq ft with

two of my best friends fairly soon though.

I don't have a welder, nor does my dad.

The closest thing to a welder is my soldering iron.

Or a pair of jumper cables on a battery! O_O

    Yeah.

I've almost welded my battery to my hood and a few to many occasions.

Hooked up the charger wrong, hit an accidental jump with no battery

strap downs, a few REALLY big potholes and some nice ruts, are to blame

for the burn marks and rust spots on the bottom of my hood.

    Twitch(ing)

  11. So its just an arc welder for now?

And you're lucky to have a propane heater.

I have a cat and a reeeeeally thick coat.

    and gloves.

    and 3 hats.

    and 2 pairs of snowpants.

and 3 pairs of wool socks.

    :-p

    Twitch

  12. Yup. Esp. when I have a purple/mauve body, red front fenders, and a silver

    bumper. :-p

I'll have to get a pic up soon.

Before winter hits and you can't see the car, lol.

Did you get a little hungry after whiffing that stuff? Hmmmmmm??? lol

Yeah, that's cool that your dad has the tools and the skills to do that.

    Hopefully it stays solid!

I know how you feel about getting stuff done in fair weather.

My lego was prime example of "I gotta get this done NOW"

And thankfully the weather cooperated, not raining until the day after I

    was done :)

I can handle the cold weather fixing stuff as long as its above 20* but it's

    still miserable.

Actually though, I'd rather work on a car in 10* weather, than 100*

Call me crazy, but you can only get so naked.

And then you can't work on a car in a pool. :-p

But you can always add layers. and more layers, and more until you're an

eskimo with a dog stuffed in his coat.

    Twitch

  13. Nah, no racing, just a little extra hp under the hood :)

And that stinks (and I bet it really did O_o)

And fixing stuff in zero degree weather is NO fun.

I had to repair a swing arm in a 20* shop, with below zero windchill outside.

    Twitch

  14. It actually has the non-interference EJ22 :D

And I think the power is fine, just a touch more from a flowmaster exhaust,

or a magna flow and maybe a port'n'polish and it'll make enough power

to NOT go in the ditch :P

And if you used JB weld on your exhaust, why not just wrap some

aluminum duct tape around it and call it good? :-p

I know some guys who have done it...

    Twitch

  15. Yes, yes they are.

And can you imagine a BRAT rolling on those?

    It would be unmissable.

And, well, my lego had been out of commission for quite a while before I

got my BRAT, and well, I looooved the way my BRAT drove, rode, handled,

    ah man it was awesome!

Then when the BRAT strarted having issues I got an 87 GL wagon.

Ride was softer, but the seats were a bit less comfy and it sagged, reeeeally

    bad around corners.

Then after I got my lego going, I've been driving it, and its like riding in a

luxury car, but with no handling whatsoever.

Its like a log rolling over when I corner.

I hate it. But I gotta get new struts on it before I can really complain.

And if I'm gonna buy new struts? why not go for the wrx sti suspension? :D

    Twitch(ing)

  16. I agree, first gen lego's look gnarly lifted with big tires.

    Link? Ohhh, THIS link... http://www.mattracks.com

Actually, I had only ridden in a subaru once before I bought my lego.

And that was a 30th anniversary edition lego sedan.

Beautiful car, rode like a caddy.

My lego was a bit more... Utilitarian?

Lets just say riding it was a bit rough in comparison (Until I got my BRAT)

But check out those tracks, you may want some ;)

    Twitch

  17. Plus I'll NEVER get stuck with tracks.

I'll be able roll right over any snow piles or jeeps stuck in the snow :D

And they have street legal tracks available so I have no need to swap out to standard

wheels and tires between mud runs!

But I would for the fuel mileage if I needed to use it for a DD.

And just remember that outbacks started in 96 ;)

    Twitch

  18. Actually, the tracks are top on the list behind the tranny, cuz they're an

    instant, bolt on upgrade.

They're like 5 grand for a set so I'm gonna be saving for a while, but it'll be

worth it if I can out offroad the jeep and yota boys.

They give you 6 inches of lift automatically and provide a track surface to ride on with built in suspension!

No added flex, but that's why I'm gonna be upgrading the suspension

    somewhere along the way.

And as a word of advice, if you don't have to swap trannies on a lego, don't.

Unless you're really ambitious or desperate (like me), then just stick with

swapping the same tranny, don't convert it.

    Twitch

  19. The BRAT is (hopefully) going to be getting mattracks, a custom

brushguard, a full rollbar, a 5sp d/r, MAJOR rust repair and body

filling and a repaint, a full engine rebuild with a custom

intake and twin turbos and maybe a lego mpfi injection and

    ignition system :D

Yeah, I've got BIG plans for that bad boy.

Plus the lego in the back I just got back on the road and 2 new

fenders and a new bumper on it (smashed up the other ones :-\).

Replaced the 4EAT with a 5sp AWD tranny, will NEVER be

    attempting that again...

So yeah, I've got big plans and just completed some big plans :)

    Twitch

  20. Hey, well this new bumper I'm putting on will be the second one

for me, third one for the car.

Soooo, I figure if I replace it with something a bit, umm, beefier? I

won't be replacing a bumper every 6 months.

And don't be nagging on me to drive better.

I drive just fine, the car is just cursed. Lol.

Plus its gonna look SWEET with my design idea and (hopefully)

    Bill's skillz...

    Twitch

PS: If you have any design ideas, throw'em at me, I could use some

    more.

  21. Hey Bill, want to get a Bull bar/Brush guard on my 90 lego, but

have no spare metal nor a welder to play with. (Or any welding skill)

So, next time you're in the area, I'd like to see if you can help me

work out a bullbar that mounts up the the stock bolt holes.

I'd make it worth your while :)

I have a spare bumper to play with, right after I pull it and install

    the non-bashed one.

So if you could help me out I'd meet you in spokidoki, or wherever

is mutually agreeable next time you're around.

    Twitch

  22. Just being creepy.

And I have an idea on a bull bar for the lego.

    I'm tired of replacing bumpers...
