  1. No, i haven't changed it. It should be good for another 100,000kms. Yes it has always run well. It just wouldn't start now, its almost like a fuse or something.
  2. Ok thanks. I know that my timing belt isn't broken and when I took off the left cover, there was two marks and they both were in line. Is there something else to check?
  3. I recently changed the Crank Angle Sensor, still not working although making a different sound when trying to start. -- I have tried pulling the in-line off the fuel filter, it has filled up 1 and 1/2 drink bottles, still dribbling (I do have half a tank of gas) . This means it's not the fuel filter??? -- Checked for spark. To me there is spark (little sparks) -- Cambelt is not broken. -- My friend told me to replace this black square thing he called a Timing Regulator or something. Is this necessary? -- I have used injector cleaner a few weeks before all this happened -- What I don't understand is that I had been using my car a few hours before it died. There nothing that indicated to me it was about to die.
  4. I have replaced the Crank Sensor and my car still does not start. I even charged up the battery. I checked for spark before everything, all four spark but how much spark is needed? They all made little sparks using another spark plug. I'm assuming it was enough spark.
  5. Hi, My 1994 impreza has not been starting so it has come to the Crank Angle Sensor. My friend told me theres a special way to install it. Do I just pull out the old one and place the new one in? Or is there more to it? Cheers
  6. I've looked high and low and all that I personally think could be the cam sensor is the one in my photo above, it is positioned on the block below the alternator I don't know what this would look like. But I don't think so. There is a square shape coil pack timing regulator (from what i've heard).
  7. My car won't start. So it's come to the stage where Im going to change these two sensors and hopefully thats the problem. Have tried new coil pack, checked fuses, checked cambelt, checked fuel filter. With the the CAM SENSOR I can't see in inside the or behind the right side cambelt cover (My car is right hand drive, im from New Zealand) is it possible I don't have this cam sensor?
  8. thanks for all the help. would these be correct? http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/8543/camsensor.jpg http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/8201/crankanglesensor.jpg i couldn't really see any plugs or wires on the right side.
  9. Hi, If someone could point out to me where the Cam and Crank Sensors are I greatly appreciate it. http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/2059/ej18.jpg thanks
  10. UPDATE- PROBLEM NOT FIXED [i've just realized that all four are sparking. So its not the coil pack then.]
  11. I've swapped the coil pack with another one from an impreza which had done 244000kms. ->Didn't work<- Is it possible this coil pack is dead as well? Or is it another problem?
  12. Yes the check engine light is on along with battery and oil lights. Can you explain where these sensors are please? No i havent checked coming out of the filter, it is new tho about 5000kms.
  13. I've pulled the hose of the "in" of the fuel filter and loads of gas was coming out. I'm sure it was more than usual, would this be from all the starting I've tried to do? I do have about half a tank of gas. EDIT: I also checked all the spark plugs 4 spark. The two front ones sparked. The back two didn't, would this be the coil pack?
  14. I've checked the cambelt and it doesn't look broken and is on the mark. I've checked the fuses and they're good. I've checked connections to battery etc, good. I put new NGK spark plugs in about 10,000kms ago. Not sure when plug wires were last changed. also how do I read the codes? thanks
  15. Hi, I have an EJ18 Impreza 1994. Its done 191,000Kms I had been using my car no problems until I went to go out this afternoon. And my car just wouldn't start. It sounds like its just not getting the last kick it needs to start. It can't be battery or starter motor as it is turning over. Could this be the Cambelt or Fuel Pump or a fuse maybe? I would have no idea really. Any help please??
  16. I have a 1994 Impreza Sedan. How do you remove the light casing to replace the bulb? I can't see any screws or bolts because it is all covered. http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/1288/dscn2761.jpg thanks and please don't say I need to take the bumper off haha
  17. I took it out and it looks all black and greasy. The valve still rattles. Will just change it when I find somewhere that stocks them. ..Thanks for the help everyone.. just wondering what is the one next to the PCV http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...oy/ej18b-1.jpg
  18. How do I go about changing this? DO I just remove the bolt from the intake manifold? Or is it the pipe aswell?
  19. In these photos where is the PCV Valve and what does it do? How do you know if it needs to be changed? http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/2059/ej18.jpg http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/5383/ej18b.jpg If someone could clearly explain or circle it in the picture. Id greatly appreciate it
