My buddy has been rocking RWD since we busted his front axle during the weekly subaru beat down. That was almost a year ago and weve had no problems. This car gets ************ kicked. Slid into ditches and curbs, brake stands and burnouts, jumps, and it still gets loaded up and grunted out on road trips.

alright thanks guys.. i got 4 new 175/70/13's.. another ? where can i get aftermarket wheels? it has an odd pattern right? like 154x4 or something like that...92 loyale 4x4 thanks
You pretty much cant. Peugeot 505 wheels are pretty sweet and share the same pattern. Make sure you use the lug nuts that come from the peugeot or it wont work.
As for tire size issues. This is for the most part 100% true, but..... as will everything you can push it to the limit. You CAN run in 4wd with slight odd ball tires. However it WILL tear up your driveline UNLESS you are on extremely loose surfaces such as... gravel, snow, ice.. If on grippy surfaces you will bind your running gear and either cause wheel slippage, or you will brake an axle, diff, driveshaft, or your transmission. The same driveline damage can occur from driving in 4wd (with correct sized tires) if you are taking tight turns on a grippy surface. Since your left to right, and front to back wheel speeds will be different.

Oh I see, looks diffrent!
You really cut the shlt out of that car, geez Lol.

Ya, I suppose if you took more than 10 minutes you could make it looks good too!

See the stock bumper sticks out way more.
-
You could suck the bumper in even further if but i Didnt cut enough the first time and was too lazy to take it off again.
-
Yea, I want to see what this chopped bumper looks like aswell. Sounds interesting
-Tom
Im not sure ive got any pics of this. I scrapped the car soon after I did this so I could use its rear subframe to save my XT.

Tuck in the front bumper. Free.
Pull the black bumper plaster off the rebar. Take out the foam and trash it. Cut about 4 inches off the two edges. Trim the top part of the bumper so it comes closer to the grill and headlights. Now the front bumper is really short and looks better, better approach, etc.

As GD mentioned there are some differences between the 90-94 Legacies. The ECU is in the same location, but the main difference is in the wiring and ECU type.
So again, as GD suggested, it would be best to get the wiring for the same year as the engine.
As for removing the harness, you will need to remove the dash to get at everything. You'll most likely want to trim down the harness to just have the engine components, but to do this, you'll have to get the main harness out.
It shouldn't matter about which year as long as the wiring & engine are from the same year. However, I'd probably recommend the 92-94 non-turbo Legacies though since there is less confusion on the ECU type.
Thanks boss, I didn't know the vehicle harness and the engine harness were tied together. This solves some confusion.

None of the bolts are reverse thread, the trick is to use your spanner or bar aimed towards the crank, it helps to stop the engine spinning whilst undoing them.
If they've been in a while, they can take a bit of force, but the torque to do them up isn't that much.
Dont mistake inch pounds with foot pounds either, i made this mistake after a long day and its not pretty.

which years would you believe to be easier.
The last harness and ecu I pulled was from a Merkur XR4Ti and it took me like 20 minutes.
-
Hey guys/gals. Just wondering how difficult it is to just remove the engine wiring harness and ecu from a 90-94 legacy. Do I need to remove the dash, or can I just do some light monkeying to get everything. The purpose would be to install into a carburated ea82 car with the ej22 engine. But I want to simplify everything.
Thanks.

go for it dude! they sell wheel adapters on this web-site to bolt up vw 5 lugs on your subaru. look in the off road section.
ya I got some toyota wheels ill just redrill first though. easier. or just redrill the hubs for 6 stud.

ive got a ************ty subaru i might try this in a few months. if it works ur all gonna be so jealous.
-
anyone done this?
Slap a vw bus pop top onto a loyale.
Imagine a nice dual range, ej swapped loyale with 30" tires and a 6" lift. All accented with a nice bull bar, big antenna, fishing rod holders and a vw canvas pop top to be the cherry ontop.

So Ive got these headlight guards on my 87 gl. Canadian car. They have subaru emblems stamped on them.
Were these a factory option, are they rare, I love them!!
Look just like the covers on the headlights of this rally car:

Subarus typically don't do well here. Theres too much understeer and not enough power to put the drivetrain to use. And weight.
Honda CRX do verywell if they survive the first few hours of madmax untill things settle down.
My friend was on the team that entered an old 5 series beamer. I think they welded the engine to the crossmember.
