  1. Too bad they can't mount the ECU up where the Air bag module is at.. and that looks like it's well sealed.
  2. I remember you said you had to do your wheel bearings after all of you went to NJ to off road? I think it was more then one person who had to change them on the cars. I take it mud = failed wheel bearing? Also the interesting thing out of all of this is it seems like it takes around 6-10 start up's and driving and after that the ECU seems to have enough info
  3. Holy crap... I did not have standing water like that when I took the carpet up or when it was still down. And that ECU.. yeah that for sure is gone! also what is that box beside your E-brake? Is that a shock sensor?
  4. I hate the one that sprays from the bottom up because it never goes high enough to cover the top part of the blade.
  5. It's not the carpet that's really smelling but the padding.. I manged to get the rear pad smelling OK (no longer makes the whole house smell) It's quicker just to pull the padding up and glue it back on later
  6. Having a little problem trying to picture overlapping it.. Do you mean on the crank sprocket?
  7. Welcome to the club! Does your spray from the lower part of the glass up? or from the top down? Also mine is not good as well it misses a whole spot in the middle. Good to know what the part price is because I won't be able to take it during winter.
  8. Does a Chain wrench really work for the cams? I only replaced everything BUT the cam seals and now they both need to be replaced..
  9. Fresh picture just drove around about 10 min ago. Here at idle
  10. That is true.. This is one car I can say I enjoy working on as long as it's not water getting in the car. I plan on replacing the seats at a later date.. as far as mildew smell I can only detect a little where the ECU sits I took the jute padding off it and it's hanging up because the owners before me spilled paint on it that so it's harder to dry.
  11. dirty IAC? in my impreza I had a small vacuum leak and with the AC on it could cause it to stall at the right moment (Auto) but the funnest thing happened one day in the park the AC kicked in and the idle jumped down to 500 then back up it did almost stall.
  12. yeah I was a little scared.. each time I would try to get a code i'd get something else that was complety bogus.. like something that wont start the car like the Crank postion sensor. It seems like the only possible thing I lost is my XM direct box which was under the passenger seat which got wet. The word is still out on the ABS module I doubt the carpet will be dry by Friday if so I will reinstall. but thanks Rooster2 on checking the comprehensive insurance.. I swore when i took out a policy on this car I got it (I wanted full glass) I happen to check and I had none :-/ so I got it now.
  13. right now cleaning.. nasty how dirty it is... have not touched the passenger side yet.
  14. Nope it's a manual took FOREVER to find one that was not a Auto.. I brought the car for $400 lol I've gone about 15,000 miles since I got it in March. I'd say I got a pretty good deal.. I might be pulling the engine during the winter and the trans because the rear housing has a little leak (not flood related) and I want to replace my Throw out bearing because it seems like the last owner just replaced the clutch and not the bearing and it drives me nuts hearing it rattle. I hope to make the meet I've yet to get really dirty only took the car offroad a few times in N.C. in some pretty soft somewhat deep sand, did better then I thought.
  15. Haha I remember that picture in one of the other threads from here. ECU is still fine.. it still knows where my rev limit is at. one funny thing.. and I don't know if water mixed in or what.. but the day before the little flood on level ground I could move just using 1500 rpms but I took the car to work today 16 one way 24mi RT clutch engagement was so erratic it was driving me nuts.. so to be safe I changed my rear and front oil and it's nice and buttery smooth again.. Was it just me or perhaps the water? The ABS module i took out and took apart and it's drying like the ECU it had moisture on the pins but none on the PCB. I tested a few things in circuit they seem to be ok but I won't know for sure until I plug it back in the car. I think it fried my XM tuner I left it under the passenger seat so it would be easy to get to.
  16. I did not hear anything funny with the wheel bearings however the other car my mom drove I'm sure it's a wheel bearing it makes that low wroom, wroom, wroom sound depended on your speed. I'm going to change the fluids tomorrow
  17. I did not see it but I sprayed it on it and i turned on my dehumidifier in which is in the same room the carpet is in. Good thing I did pull up the carpet (first time) that jute padding padding was pretty much dripping like crazy pulling it up. On the other side one of the past owner spilled off white pain in the car and got in under the jute padding.. Also I found about $3.00 worth in change in the car between the seats and all. I have the ABS module open right now.. as was the ECU it's damp as well but looks like no harm was done.. but I will test it with the meter.
  18. about to head to the store which Lysol? The Disinfectant Spray?
  19. Carpet is out! just as I expected the ABS Module got wet as well so that's the reasoning the ABS was going nuts and pumping the petal while just standing still. I will see if it can still be saved.
  20. I understand where you are coming from it's just that the bolts that mount on the drive shaft tunnel they are rusted out due to old age (snapped one about 3 months ago) I had to get creative with the drivers side by using the scissor jack and a wrench to hold the bolt so it would not spin around and remove it from inside the car. I did get the driver's side out.. carpet in the rear is ready to be pulled just gotta figure out how to get the drivers seat out since I have all but that snapped bolt out.. If need to I can just cut it off. I had planned to replace the seats anyways but not right away. IS air drying in the house ok? Since I would have some free time I should be able to hand dry as well.
  21. I checked and the CEL does come on when the car is turned to ON Where is the ABS computer? My ABS is kicking in when just pressing the brakes standing still. When I know it's going to happen the petal gets very stiff then the ABS pump starts going away. I understand the ECU and the ABS are two different control units. However I can't locate the ABS unit on my Legacy other then the pump under the hood with the relays.
  22. well I did not check that.. I did drive the car to the other side of town... I do have another issue.. Brakes! The ABS light is still on but the brakes lock up with just a feather touch.. it almost feels like a stiff brake petal and if you push more then half way I can cause one of the wheels to lock up. I will get back to you on the CEL thing.
  23. Good news!! I blow dried the ECU and let it sit for two hours and plugged it back into the car and hooked the battery cable up.. at first it stumbled but it ran like normal no CEL's just the ABS light is still on (don't know where the control unit is in here) I'm revealed now.. now I can go drive and get this wet vac to use. I think it's just another test by the car to see if I will take care of it
  24. man comprehensive insurance was one of the things I don't have on the car.. getting up the carpet might be a pain because the wielded bolt under the car for the passenger seat broke so I could not remove the seat.. I never bothered to try the driver's seat. So I should go ahead and buy another ECU?
