  1. I should really get around to finishing the posts here and add the rest of the photos. . . .
  2. Its been a while, I welded on a bung and installed an o2 sensor, bought a speed sensor simulator, now the only code i get is for the temp sensor. I connected a vacuum line from the intake to my ecu (map censor) and the surging problem has almost completely disappeared. I can even take off slowly without having to stomp on the gas.
  3. Mine is from a a 94 Legacy Import. Thus my confusion, this is a 4 bar map sensor, with vacume line, which i plugged in to the manifold.
  4. Wow man, sorry about the trans, that is my brothers biggest fear, he has an rx and is planning a turbo 2.2 swap. Those tranis are hard to find. Hey, on a side note, does your ecm have a built in map sensor? Mine does, which I thought would be for a turbo model, but my brother has a turbo 1.8 and a turbo 2.2 and neither one has a map sensor. I have both a map and a maf, but didn't plug in the map until today after my bro suggested unplugging it to see if it helped my surge and idle issues. I took it for a test drive and it drove smooth for the first time, took off smooth and didn't surge at cruise speed (60-65). More test driving to come.
  5. Well shoot, i don't have either one hooked up, maybe that's part of my running problem, that and the vss simulator i have on the way.
  6. Well crud, i checked the IAC and it appears to be working fine, the reason it wouldn't idle is that the timing on the passenger side cam was off by 3 cogs. I fixed that and it idles perfect, but will die if you even touch the throttle until it warms up, then it still has same problem of bogging down until it gets to 3k rpm then it takes off at a mad dash. I have to get it t about 3k then let the clutch out, which is burning my clutch and tires at every takeoff.
  7. That is awesome, I'm starting to think about an all-wheel conversion myself.
  8. Hey, I'll bet you are fast! It is N/A with a turbo up fit already in progress. I gave my buddy that helped me put it in a ride for the first time today, he couldn't believe it was the same car. The only code it throws is an incorrect signal from temp sensor, and it only did that since i put a new sensor in. I'm a bit puzzled at the moment.
  9. I still have some minor issues with mine, stumbling upon takeoff, until about 3k then she comes alive. I discovered that the timing was off on the pass side by 3 cogs, dang i thought it had power before!, now idles quiet and smooth, stumbles on applying throttle until 3k then burning rubber, and seriously moving. I took off next to a Corvette today, and he couldn't get away from me, he quit trying at about 75mph! He gave me a serious look when we got to the next light, of course i was rumbling pretty good as i am running dual exhaust with twin cherry bombs that exit each side in front of the rear tires.

  11. I made sure all vacuum lines were good, no leaks, i thought it may have been the TPS, so i switched it out, no improvement.
  12. Hmm... It wont idle and stay running unless the throttle adjust screw is adjusted all the way down, then it idles at about 2k. If i start to take off it will stumble and act like its either flooded or robbed of fuel, hesitating and surging until it reaches about 3500 rpm via stomping on the accelerator peddle. ONCE IT REACHES 3500 RPM, IT TAKES OFF LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL. If i stomp on it to get it past that threshold it will accelerate like I'm at the strip and Ken Block is in the next lane and she has something to prove. This is fine for using a lot of fuel and being the obnoxious jackass who drives like he's at the races everywhere he goes. After I get up to speed and let off the accelerator to drive at a sustained speed i have to keep it in a lower gear with the rpms at about 4k to keep it running smooth, otherwise it will start surging and loosing speed. I am hoping that someone has a clue about this as I am at this point, clueless. Thanks
  13. I'm not sure if my PM went through, but i am interested in getting a set done as well. I have an 87' GL 4x4 Wagon with 4wdisk brakes (rear from a GL-10) I live in Palmdale, CA 93550 Thanks man.
  14. Hey man, Ready my sticky, still work in progress but 95% there. So begins my 87' 4wd wagon EJ22 swap
  15. I used a fuel pump off of a Volvo 940 turbo and mounted it right by the tank in the stock 87gl location. Plenty of pressure and ready for when i go turbo. Way to have a heart attack though numbchux.
  16. These are my attempts to start the car during swap, plus a look at my fuel pump mount.
  17. I'll check and let you know.

  18. I got my 2.2 into my 87 gl but it idles rough, heck it runs rough. The battery will not charge and the alt is good. I have no idea what a vehicle speed sensor does or if it even affects the running of it, but somebody told me that the engine wont run right without a VSS ans O2 sensor, is that right?
  19. The car is up and running, however it idles rough either cold or warm. It stumbles at takeoff or cruising speed and the only code i get is for the purge canister solenoid. I have no o2 and no speed sensor on the car, but get no error codes for these. Any ideas?

  21. The exhaust was done for the 1.8, just modified it to fit the 2.2
  22. A few shots of the EJ radiator and 2 cooling fans, 1 from the EA and The smaller fan from the EJ. I will finish off the top of the radiator with something to make it look like more of a plan and fab some permanent brackets for the top of the radiator. The bottom mounts on the EJ radiator set right into the slots for the EA radiator. I just leaned the top of the Radiator in toward the engine and put some polyurethane padding in-between the radiator and the body. A couple shots of the exhaust. Sorry these are so small, all photos are in an album on my member page in the 2.2 swap folder. I will be uploading a few videos to youtube later.
