  1. Hey man, Do you still have any plates? EA to EJ right?
  2. It did double as a flame thrower. LOL Talk about a sleeper, I miss that truck.
  3. I once outran a 68 camaro in my 1970 Ford 1/2 ton truck. Well okay so It had a 429 cobrajet and a topspeed of 130 mph, big deal. heh heh
  4. I forgot my camera so i just drove the car to work, blowing water on one side and all. Here is the video though.
  5. Two years ago i was flying down the freeway with my wife and smelled plastic burning and smoke started coming out from under the passenger side dash. Then a wire falls out right above her legs, dangling and smoldering, so to keep her from getting burned i just reached over and jerked the wire out from under the dash. Turns out it was a heater blower wire that had shorted out on the body, you can still see the scars across my fingers. lol I was a hero that day!
  6. I knew I had seen that photo before, just couldn't remember where.
  7. My brother is doing a MegaSquirt on hi RX, i'm going to let him do it first.
  8. I am going to weld two threaded rods together, not bolts, then thread the welded and offset double ended bolt into the engine, slide the plate over this then slide the trans up to that and put the nuts on the trans side. over lapping two threaded rods, laying them side by side, welding them together and making a racetrack oval hole in the adapter plate so that the welded piece will fit into it.
  9. I have everything except for the adapter plate to do my swap from ea82 to ej22. I will eventually add a turbo as well, I have the turbo, intercooler, and down pipe. I just need to get the turbo header/ uppipe and a MegaSquirt stand alone ECU. I'm just worried about my dual range 5 speed dying, I think that if i can ease into my take offs instead of just launching it that it should last.
  10. It would have been sweet with that 400 in it, but its a costly project. I think I'm going to hold off on the turbo for now and just put the 2.2 in, I'm worried about the dual range 5 speed. If I do lose the tranny, I will have a heck of a time finding another one. Plus I don't want to rush the turbo, I just need to get the car on the road, besides I think I need to go MegaSquirt anyway with a nice turbo header with an all wheel drive setup. I guess I'm just not ready to give up the dual range yet.
  11. Allright dude, I dont get home before dark during the week but i'll take a quick video this weekend.
  12. Yeah My ea 82 has straight pipe duel exhaust and its only loud when I get on it, but it also has a deep throaty sound.
  13. He's referring to the outback I found while on the phone with him the other day. I came back 3 days later to get a better look at that 2.5 but they had crushed it in the mean time. That's Southern California for you, a two week crush limit and no inventory on vehicles. You have to go walk the lot every bloody time to see if you can find anything of use.
  14. Man I didn't even realize that the engine side holes on the top were threaded. I'll just weld some studs together and mount it that way, its pretty fool proof as long as the alignment is correct.
  15. If I remember correctly, CMiller covered this in his swap writeup. I haven't gotten that far yet in my swap, still collecting parts.
  16. I switched out the throwout fork about 10k miles ago and only had one clip, still works fine.
  17. Seriously, Central Oregon should have a bunch of them, every other car is a Subaru.
  18. Back in 2001 I bought a new Chevy Cavalier and you couldn't have a cold air intake, which is really lame. I was able to plumb 3" pipe through the stock air box and under the drivers side fender, then out the front where i had a scoop that I put behind an opening in the grill. It made a noticeable difference in performance. I have had it smoged several times without any trouble.
  19. I had my cars emissions checked about a year and a half ago by a guy who owned a smog shop and owed me money. He tested it as an out of state car and it passed emissions with the weber, but that is also when he told me that i would have to put all the FI stuff back on it to register it in CA. I ran a smog exempt 1970 Ford 1/2 ton pickup for years in CA. It had a 429 Cobra Jet w/ Edelbrock intake and carb, duel exhaust and two 6" long glass packs. 425hp, 475 ft lbs of torque, with a 3 speed and 2.75 rearend gear ratio. I could burn rubber at the line and topped out at 130 mph. My wife nicknamed it 'The Millennium Falcon', the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. I had to totally beef up the suspension and weld chain to the frame and bolt it to the engine to keep from tearing motor mounts. I miss that truck.
  20. That's the beauty of owning property and doing business in Oregon. My car is registered there since i don't have a permanent CA address, until i do my 2.2 swap. I have a business in California, but its run from wherever my pc happens to be. And i have a Weber with a nice shiny Air cleaner on top.
  21. No, you can not pass CA emissions with a Weber, unless you hide it. Mine was a fuel injected car, so you can make it look like it still is as long as the smog guy doesn't start poking around at stuff.
  22. I have an 87' GL Wagon 4x4, EA-82 with dual exhaust. 2" pipe, a crossover about midway back for pressure equalization, then exits right in front of each rear tire. It has a really nice deep sound. Oh yeah, with 2 like 18" glass packs.
