2WD fuel tank in 4WD hatch?
wagons came in both 2wd and 4wd. but the hatch tank is about 6-8" shorter in length maybe.... Like Qman said, you need a full 4" lift kit that drops the whole diff hanger (mustache bar and diff) that much. a 3" lift will not be enough to clear it...

?? confused as to where it goes, 11/79
Though it is "Historic", it should go into the genral Old Gen forum, not the Historic (Gen1 and earlier) forum....

Subaru winch
they came in yellow (most common), and white... here's a brochure page with the yellow one... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/Literature/brochures/1980-acc-a.jpg and here's a white one... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/Literature/brochures/1982-brat-h.jpg they were just a small Superwinch. 1000 pounds... I think I have a working yellow one, and Syrinx has a yellow on, New in The Box!!!!!

What's Left To Mod For Offroad?
If you put a tailgate back on: I got a rear tire carrier off a old Ram Charger, and it will fit perfect, attaching to rear steel bumper, and the body right above tail light. swings out so you can lower the tailgate. the swing lock attaches to the tailgate....

How is antenna attached?
you should be able to unscrew the top of the mount from the fender, and it will drop into the fender. a 83+ ea81 antenna will work, with a little grinding to the antenna housing.... my 82 wagon has had this done to it... also, if you want to stick with a telescoping antenna (nice for off-roading) there's a BMW (not sure what model) that has a telescoping antenna, that's basically a direct fit, but it's about 20 times better quality. (strength and finish)

What's Left To Mod For Offroad?
I've got a Superwinch 4500 and it wasn't enough to pull me up a fairly steep hill (angle was severe enough I couldn't get it started again) and my starter locked up. not enough area to turn around, and a tree stuck behind my RF wheel! If you don't already have one, get(make) a good skid plate that covers your Y pipe as well. save my engine more than once last year... I love my welded rear, but I also use sometimes as a daily, so I'm torn on that issue....

the dealer strikes agian.. bastards..
I did this with ea81 tranny mounts. worked really well. used 3M windo-weld from Advance Auto Parts store.... it was summertime, so I just let them cure for a week on my workbench. I also did a set of engine mounts, but that gived you a lot more vibration

dieseling after shutdown
you should be able to hear the solenoid click when the key is turned to the Run position. (provided you are not the one turning the key).... some possible causes. anti-deiseling solenoid is stuck open (make sure no voltage when key off) throttle spring losing tension, and not totally shutting off the flow of fuel. if coli/plugs/wires etc.. are bad, maybe not all the fuel is getting burnt up either.....
