  1. Ha I already do, I'm out the backroads and rivers every weekend! Just always is a bit fun to swing the back out aye?
  2. Really? Only 2-wheel? ************ and all this time I've been thinking they're four! Can you elaborate on which hubs and discs to use?
  3. Hey guys, I've got a 1989 DL Wagon, EA82 Carb 5sp DR The 4 Wheel handbrake is handy sometimes, but for me, I just wanna have fun, (which might mean sliding the rump roast around a little ) so I was wondering if anyone knew how to disconnect the front brakes from the handbrake mechanism without messing with the normal braking of the car or rendering the entire handbrake useless... Any help would be appreciated.
  4. Whoa dude, that is a freakin sweet setup! Get some vids up in the daytime!
  5. Legend man! Nice Repco filter you got there
  6. Wanaka is in the mighty nation of New Zealand! My home too Dammit man, I took my Leone down to Wanaka three weeks ago to play a gig at Lake Hawea, shame I didn't see it! Can't believe how the old girl went actually, with about 150kg of gear in the back and five full grown men, but she loved it! Nice town btw Will def be back!
  7. Just about killed the old girl driving her through six fords. On the last one I thought it'd be clever to drop her into over-the-bonnet water at about 20kph an hour. Not so. Ended up getting water all through the engine bay and dizzy, which killed her. Got the two front wheels on the dry ground, with the rump roast end in the water. Filled up with about three inches of water in the back seat and boot, So I ended up stripping everything out of the car, the seats, center console, everything, to get the carpet out before I lost all enthusiam Anyways, here's a photo of her going through one of the smaller fords enjoy
  8. Thanks guys, turned out it fixed itself today while I was driving home for work. Must have just been wet. Shame about the bloody carpet! The whole rump roast end of the car filled up with about 3 inches of water. Had to rip all the seats out just to get the bloody soaking carpet out of the car. Great Will get some pictures up soon!
  9. G'day guys! Yesterday I had the brilliant idea of going goldpanning with my brother in his Brumby (Thats a brat to all you non-New Zealanders!) and my Omega (basically an 89 loyale/dl/yada yada). Crossed about six fords (all up to the bonnet, go Subaru! ) and on the last one the old girl ended up with water in the dizzy. Got the front wheels on the dry ground before she died! ;P Anyways, I've got an unusual predicament; Whenever I hit the brakes, my left indicator glows. No ticking like normal, just glows. Now isn't really the safest (or the most police friendly) thing to happen when driving around the town, but I can't figure out where the hell the two would cross. I've checked in the taillight for water bridging the two, but nothing got wet inside the lenses. Anyone have any idea on what the hell happened? I'm no electrical genius, and I'm stumped. Gotta be water in there somewhere, right?
  10. My old RX was a bit of a weapon - Was absolutely rooted, running on three cylinders most of the time (was just a farm hack, no point of fixing it, as was beyond repair) but used to boost something cronic. Upon inspection I found the turbo was actually a VF48 off the 2004 onwards 2.5l Impreza STIs......Goddammit it used to go hard, even when it was wounded - But I have no doubt that that turbo was the very thing that killed it. All in all, upgrading the turbo is fine, but know the engines limits. It's not a strong engine, so raising the boost without some serious engine work is not the best of ideas. I'd go with a VF11 off a 2.0l GT legacy/liberty, then STI top mount, and a FULL PLUMBACK BOV. Don't use a vent to atmosphere kind, they might sound cool, but they'll ruin the turbo and/or engine eventually. Also, a set of steel laminate race head gaskets and a better cooling system would do the trick - I'd go for a full alloy radiator - You could even get an electric water pump kit and run that for even better cooling. Plus, the electric pumps can be ran even after you stop the car, which eliminates heat soak. Bloody good idea - if you can afford it. They're not cheap. Good luck mate
  11. Um....So the grey one is the car? I'd be focusing more on the exterior of the vehicle then absolute performance bud. To be honest, it looks pretty whorey.
  12. Hey all. Just wondering if anyone had any info on adjusting idle on a EFI EJ20D engine off a VZ Legacy 1898 (BC5)? I had a timing belt snap in my engine. Bent valves Oh well, life goes on. Anyways, instead of going to the hassle of ripping the heads of and reconditioning them, I just slapped a whole new engine in. Identical engine, but I'm having trouble with the air control valve, which is giving me a very odd idle. I replaced both that and the throttle position sensor from my old engine (which was a very good engine until that bloody t-belt gave up!) but I have no idea how to set them. I've heard the ACV controls the cold start idle, which the TPS is responsible for the hot idle. But every time I seem to get it idling right (which is about 750rpm by my ear) it runs fine, then seems to mess up. It used to hunt for a good spot, and I seem to have cured that, but sometimes it'll idle nicely, then decide to idle when warm at 2000rpm, then drop again. Now I don't think the car is worth the money of getting it professionally tuned, but I might have to seeing as I have no clue about how to get it idling right. Does anyone have any expertise in this sort of area? I'm absolutely stumped when it comes to electronic fuel injection. If you need any more info please don't hesitate to ask. I really need this old girl to run right! Thanks for your help guys.
  13. Hey guys, long time Subaru owner here, first time poster. Thought I'd come to the experts who might be able to help I've just recently purchased an 85 RX Leone sedan. Now the poor girl looks like she's had a fair hammering by some young little bastards I bought it off but was once used for rallying with a WRX engine in at one stage. Right now though, has a classic old EA82T engine with some bloody huge turbo strapped to it (I believe it may be a WRX turb), custom headers and a three inch exhaust. The number four cylinder is missing for some unknown reason. Had it compression tested, came back fine with 125 PSI. Definitely getting a spark through, and it will occasionally run on four cylinders. I've taken it a to friend of mine who is (very handily) a mechanic, and he says the old Water Temp Sensors in these old puppies have a big effect on the air/fuel mixture, so I'm going to chuck a new one in tomorrow. In the meantime, I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else? Everything points to it being able to fire, yet it only does every now and again. Hope someone can help me, want this old girl back on the road ready to smoke any said Honda/Evo/Skyline etc. If any more info is needed please don't hesitate to ask Cheers guys
