  1. The engine has been rebuilt. And runs perfectly. Every 20 to 60 miles, it will just die. Always while braking to a stop. It doesn't shudder or feel weird in any way other than it is no longer running. It will turn over but not fire for 5 to 20 min then start and run fine. Thereis no cel. I want to replace the fuel pump relay but can't find it in my repair manual. Is a fuel pump a likely cause?
  2. The car has a significant torque bind. By that I mean it feels like a truck in 4wd when in turns and brakes. The tranny has been replaced with a used one. The problem was With me before the the swap. The car will occasionally stall when I come to a stop at a red light. When it does this it will not restart for 5 to 10 min. I have been told to try the coolant temp sensor. I replaced it no change. Please help. Thanks
  3. Thanks for the advice. Ill try temp sensor and get back to you with results. Thank you to everyone who shares their time and talent with all of us novices. This site has saved me a fortune in repair bills.
  4. no cel. Also I forgot to mention that I just swapped the tranny. The problem also existed with the old transmission.
  5. I've got a 95 legacy wagon with an auto trnny. It occasionaly dies when I stop at a red light. When it does this to me, it will not start for about 5 min. It just turns over seemingly not getting spark. Then all of the sudden it starts and runs fine. Never any problems while in forward motion. Please help???????
  6. I have a loyale with a burnt motor. I have an ea82 carbed motor sitting in the garage. Can I just swap intakes and such and make this thing run again. Thanks
  7. Ok, i have already replaced all the seals in the oil pump and i still have a really bad tick of death. I just bought it, a 92 loyale that has had documented repairs such as head gaskets and water pump and timing belts. the owner told me that subaru said it needed an oil pump to fix the ticking which has only recently started. What next guys, it only has 155k. I dont want to swap it cause it seems to run really well and is still getting29 mpg. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance
  8. I need a daily driver while i upgrade the gl. dude wants 500 bucks for a legacy sedan with 2.2 turbo at 177k and a blown auto tranny. Will this thing die in the 4 months i need to do my swap. how ahrd would it be to swap a man. trans in it. Did the same swap on an auto loyale so i know how to if its the same deal. Would this be a better motor to put in the gl project? I have a 155k 2.2NA at the moment, but i havent started overhauling yet. Thank you guys for all the great advice and encouragement. Mike
  9. I just read somewhere that the 2.5 is an interference , but the 2.2 is not. I thought he meant any of the 2.2s from any year but i could be mistaken.
  10. thanks for the info guys. BTW it was a monroe sensi trac that gave out after bout 300 miles.
  11. I bent the stock, brand new shock/strut, on a camping trip. I've got the 2" lift blocks at 15 degrees. I was loaded down pretty good and running pretty fast down a jeep trail. That said, I have heard the rear shocks are the aquiles heel of a gl/loyale wagon. Someone had posted the part nuber for a 4runner shock that is the same height as the loyale's rear shock.
  12. Need to know what year 4 runners have similar rear struts to my loyale. I know i have to drill them out a bit, but other advice is welcome. I am going to yoto parts cause I just bent the hell out a brand new stock strut. huh weak link? What do you guys think?
  13. [/img] This is my work in progress. I call her "Green with Envy" cause she really wants EJ. She started as an auto, now sportin 5 speeds and a 2" lift. The rims are 14" pugs painted black.
  14. I call her "Green with envy" cause even though shes a lifted beauty, she really wants a boobjob/ejswap. Still need help wiring the push button 4x4 switch fron the swapped in 5spd and advice for the ripped up cv boots on both front axles???? Homemade 2" lift with really minor camber prob. one is perfect straight up and down, the drivers side is a little towed in.[/img]
  15. Yeah there are the front axles the boots near the tranny. Not only are they ripped, but they are now in two pieces. One axle is a little older but one was less than 2 months old. Thanks everyone for the help
  16. PICS I put the homemade 2" lift in my loyale about three weeks ago. Yesterday she started smoking on me. Turns out to be axle grease on the exhaust. Both inside boots on basicaly new axles were torn. Anyone else have this issue? How do I avoid this in future lifts. Thanks Mike
  17. I have asked before and gotten some good replies, but wiring this thing is beyond me at this point. I live in Redmond oregon, and am willing to drive 4 hours one way for help. I can pay you, if you can fix this. My mom wants to take this thing camping for a week with her girlfriends. She shouldnt need 4x4 on this trip with the girls, but she should have it in case the need arises. Like I said before, this is a 93 auto loyale with a push button 5 spd swapped in. Did the 2" homemade lift this weekend, and am very eager to make her whole. Thanks everyone for your help so far.

  19. Hey, man, Thanks for all your help and all of your great posts. I'm new to Oregon and before I moved here, I had never even seen a subaru gl/loyale, ever. The adventure began when I saw a youtube video of a lifted gl fording a river my 4-runner wouldn't attempt. I searched craigslist for about a month and got my hands on a baby blue 90 loyale for 700 bucks. You, and Scottinbellingham as well as many others, kept that thing on the road (and off it) for 40,000 miles. Now your insight has gotten Green With Envy a 5sp. Thanks

I would love to meet you halfway over the hill for a roady/camp trip sometime. Theres not many members from my area. no one is lifted, and I never see any other subies out in the blm. I'd love to host an offroad trip up here in the high desert. I know all the good free camp spots, and I'm on good terms with the local law enforcment. Someday...? Anyhow, just wanted to say thanks again, and invite you to waste a sunday in the willamette NF.

    Mike

  20. You are wanting late 90s toyota 4-runner shocks. I think you will need to drill the #12hole to #10. That said the shock you want is KYB brand part #341232 Search from there to find the best price/brand. Good luck, happy to help. mike
