  1. okay so my friend(galen) and i were driving home from homedepot(bought some paint remover cuz napa was closed....they close at 6pm!!!) all of sudden galen goes "thats a BRAT!!!" and i was like "no way... im the only one who has running brat in bellevue" and he sped up to see if it was brat...and it was...we were like holy shinap. we were driving right next to him and i gave him a thumb..hehe then we chased him after....(yeah we chased him...we wanted to know what year it was) when he drove into this plaza and parked... we went up to his car and saw it had PERFECT interior and nearly perfect exterior..it had perfect vents, no cracks..it was just perfect...i was jealous...i had hugh cracks on my dash, my vents are gross... yeah that was my day...i was happy that i saw a running brat in bellevue(if you live in WA, you guys would know how hard to find a running brat in BELLEVUE)
  2. shut up Galen.... let see if you can manly turn my brat at park state when we put lift kit on it and some fat wheels
  3. hi all..i would like to install power steering on my brat once i get a lift kit.. i know it may sound wimpy to install power steering(no offense...but when i mentioned about this to my friend, thats what he called me) im getting used to not having power steering and i found it to be work out..hehe...but once (hopefully real soon) i buy the lift kit and install them...i dont know how hard would it for me to drive the beast...soo i was wondering where i can start with power steering...im not sure if there is power steering made for ea-81 and if there is, i was wondering if i need any mod to put it in... if they didnt make for ea-81 what kind of mod do i need to install power steering from later models thanks again for advices in advance. Dan
  4. i have some insurance questions recently i bought a 1982 brat, it's in decent condition except there is a hole on the bed and some rust. i haven't got a insurance for it, and im planning to get one really soon..but i dont know which company gives best deal for 1982 brat gl. depending on the deal, i would ask my mom to change the company. im 18 years old..so im thinking i should put one of my parents as primary driver and put me as secondary on the brat. if we decided to stay with our current insurance company (statefarm), the insurance agent will come to my house to explain the policy...i was wondering if i should hide the car, in case he might say something about the condition of the car and try to get more money by saying it is a old car and stuff like that i need some advice from you guys thanks Dan
  5. previously i left a thread talking about my brat overheating, and i finally decided to get a new or almost new radiator for my brat. im not good with car so i dont exactly know what kind of radiator can fit in. and i was also wondering about which car 2 row radiator came in. also i would like to get my ac working before summer hits, and im not sure what parts i need newly replace for better working ac(right now i have ac fan but i turn on the heater!!! especially when hot outside to lower the temp....) such as water pump?? i need some help thanks Dan oh btw if you have any of the parts im talking about and would like to sell it, please leave a post thanks
  6. ok.. so after my friend and i put new y pipe in my brat, i have noticed a smoke coming out under the hood. i dont exactly sure where it is coming from but im assuming that its from the y-pipe. It has some grease and oil on it and my friend is kept telling me that the smoke is from the buring grease and oil, but i just want to make sure its nothing too crazy. i was wondering if you guys can help me thanks Dan
  7. hello all. i previously posted a thread about my soobie getting real hot while running. i know most of the old soobie has this problem and i would like to know some of the ways to fix this problem. Soon as i get enough money, im planning to buy new radiator(the one i have is 22 yrs old... older than me..) then i was thinking about hard wiring one of the fan directly to the battery and run a relay with a switch. so when the engine get hot, one of the fan will work automatically and other one, i will turn in on with a switch. im not sure if thats good idea or not. i would like to ask you guys before i screw up anything. btw i have 1982 BRAT!!!! yay.. thanks Dan
  8. ok my clutch burned and my brat wouldnt accelerate. so my friend and I decided to replace with new one. It was that hard putting down the transmission and replace the clutch...ok here is the problem, we couldnt come up with any device that would lift the freaking transmission back into where it was. We tried with two floor jack(actually one floor and one portable) I mean its hard.. just two of us and one of us under the car, and other one over the engine trying to lift this beast. we were soo close to put the tranny back in but it fell of the jack and almost killed me ...more like yea...n e who i need some ideas of putting the tranny bit easier just with two people. thanks Dan
  9. Hi, I need help with fixing the cigarette lighter socket. It was working fine untill yesterday( I had my friend's police detector(Valentine One )) Then this morning, at my friend's house, he figured my front tires are low pressured, so he brought out his electric air pump and plugged into my cigarette lighter socket. It worked for about 7 seconds and then it stopped pumping. I thought there was something wrong with the pump, but I found out that my cigarette lighter socket died. Don't know what exactly happen, maybe burnt the fuse or something. It didnt died fully because if I play around with the police dector and spin around it in the socket, it works. But its pain in the ***** to go through that everytime I need to plug it in. I really need help fixing this. I'm a novice with car as you can tell, so don't really have an idea of fixing it Thanks Dan
  10. Does anyone know what can of no pass no pay. It seems to me that you used it to temporarly lower the CO level, but thats only my assumption. I would like to try one to lower my CO level, because CO percentage from my brat was bit higher than its limit If you guys know what it is, where can I get one, and what is the price of the can Thanks Dan
  11. My 1982 brat engine over heats easily. Especially during hot afternoon, so I have to turn on the Freaking HEATER!!! at freaking 80+ degrees... If you know what I'm talking about... it's like a freaking inferno...sooo hot so I have to pop open the "Halo Twin Roof" and open all the windows, and it's still hot.. Does anyone know how to fix this problem so I can turn on the AC  instead of Freaking heater during upcoming summer Thanks Dan
  12. thanks for all your infos, and replies. I would like to try "can of No pass No pay" but I have no idea what that is, and where to get it. By the way, one of my friend was saying that my RPM was bit lower than what it should be at. At cruise emission, my brat's rpm was 820 and, at idle emissions it was at 640. Plus he mentioned that if I higher the rpm, it would lower the percentage of CO. I was wondering if that was correct, and if it is correct how do you higher the rpm? thanks Dan
  13. arg...Today I took my precious brat(1982) to the emission test. Guess what I failed it...First of all I failed Gas cap...a freaking gas cap...it made me fail it. Secondly, my CO(%) was too high to pass the test. Its idle limit is 1.2, but my was 1.52. Sigh...I'm still novice with car in general, so I don't know how to lower the CO percentage. If anyone know what I'm talking about, please help thanks Dan
  14. This is mainly a old gen thing, but rear discs from a WRX might work. thanks Soung yeup ha
  15. Thanks for your replies right now im keeping it stock but later once i have enough money i would like to lift couple of inches and put fat wheels. sounds like i should keep my brat as 4 spd for later lift
  16. i dont know which transmission to put into my new 82 brat right now im keeping 4 spd but for later i dont know if 4 spd is good on the road. i needs some pros and cons for both 4 spd and 5 spd thanks dan
