  1. so i tightened the clutch cable and loosened it... it still gets stuck if i shift high... is a clutch fork difficult to replace? also, is there something else i could do?
  2. thanks very much! sorry bout my snappy reply i was pretty pissed earlier. ill post my results when i have some.. oh yeah, i dont have 90hp i have closer 100hp pure ownage
  3. its fun? the car isnt exactly a collectors item. why are you even responding? i dont remember asking if what i was doing was ok with you
  4. the car hasnt seen anything lower than 92octane in months, the oil is always pretty fresh, its been seafoamed twice. im thinking every pony counts because the car is so light but im running out of ideas. i do have an EJ20 for the car but that probably isnt going in till spring (the car is mostly a toy to me so im not extremely worried about ****ing it up + i have another engine sitting around)
  5. sorry about making two threads but this seemed best as its a separate topic. i want to advance timing on my EA82. i have NGK platinum plugs with a blaster coil, cold air intake and 2.25 catback exhaust. how far can i safely go?
  6. i have an 87 GL coupe. my car gets stuck in gear if i try to shift past 5.5k. i used to be able to shift at the redline but now i have to wait for it to rev down before i can shift. the clutch is pretty new... maybe 2k miles on it. my friend said i need to replace my clutch fork. is there something i can do that wouldnt require me pulling anything?
  7. the valve hoses are just connected together and im exempt from emissions law (262k miles)
  8. Since ive been here a while, asking questions, i thought i might as well show off my subie as well as my absurd air intake.
  9. the engine is N/A, the piston's dishes are pretty shallow. JDM?
  10. got an EJ20 shortblock from a junk yard awhile back. couldnt afford the heads. i recently aquired some EJ22 heads though. looking for input before i spend money at the machine shop. im also planning on turbocharging it and wondering how the compression will be with stock internals. yay? nay?
  11. i also replaced a vacuum hose and fuel return line as they were all showing signs of wear. i didnt touch any wiring and the oil pump sensor is on the other side. could air in the fuel line cause the ecu to function improperly?
  12. is it the stock turbo or did you put one in? ive heard nothing good about adding boost to that engine.
  13. go to a junk yard? you probably wouldnt even have to pay for it.
  14. so i pulled the fuel line hose to replace it and realized i had bought the wrong size. i put it back on and lost oil pressure... i was pissed because an oil pump on an EA82 is 150 bucks. i decided to start the car today and i had pressure! bad news is i went ahead and replaced the hose and lost pressure again. im confused.
  15. thanks, ill give it a try. also, i read elsewhere that i should pull the spark plugs out and turn the engine to push the water out (if any). http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-317999.html
  16. i had the engine running for about 10 minutes as i was refilling the radiator with water (leak) and i got some on the cone filter im using. i came back an hour later and it cranks but wont start. when i give it gas i get what sounds like a quiet backfire sound. is there just a little water in the intake or is this something serious? please dont say hydrolock. UPDATE: i have opened the throttle to take a peak and it does look moist inside the intake manifold. the noise occurs when i hit the gas. it sort of sounds like a and automatic baseball pitching machine.
  17. its N/A DOHC 16 valve i just pulled one from a 1990 legacy last week.
  18. someone beat me to the ej22t so me and a friend went up to pull-a-part... we found an ej20 though and pulled the block. looks like its gonna be a longer project though i was intrigued to find out that subaru has twin turbos for it. as far as the tranny goes, will i need to change the mounts for something newer?
  19. thanks alot guys. i got way more help than i expected! i was already planning on doing a lug swap, i just happened across an ej22t that someone is trying to get rid of as he has an ej25 now. he wont let go of the tranny as he wants to keep it as a backup. -any more tips are welcome
  20. will they bolt up? and if so, can the tranny handle it? i havea 1987 GL three door. im just looking for a quick answer before i jump into something pointless
