  1. I bought a Yakima rack & 'kayak stackers' for my wagon to haul my whitewater kayaks. Subaru OEM rack is basicly the same thing. I never had any trouble with them except that the bars do not extend out as far so there is not enough room for all the boats & it was a pain to tie teh boats down. yakima & thule are the two major roof rack manufacturers & they are both really just the same. I went with the cheapest setup - yakima.
  2. I won't take the chance. I try to keep it on roads like 'The Dragon' & the occasional gravel road. Post up when you are headed to Uwharrie, I want to see you run up 'Daniel'.
  3. I've been out there, but in my Jeep. I would go, but the WRX Wagon is NOT & my Jeep is not running. So have fun & take pictures because not too many Subarus are seen out there. Have you been over to Uwharrie?
  4. boy am i jealous. I am waiting for my chance to get out to Moab & the Rubicon. Great pics & vids! thanks
  5. I've been on the beach North of Corolla, the paved road ends & you can just keep on driving after airing down. You can also drive down to the North side Carolina Beach or go down to Fort Fisher. They are charging to access the Fort Fisher area now . Either place is good fun, just watch out for the tides. Hatteras, Ocracoke, & Nags Head have beach access ramps, but you can't drive as far. I've heard some jeep guys go to Croatan NF, but don't know anything about it. Hopefully I'll have my CJ5 put back together and running soon so I can get back out there.
  6. I'm a glad owner of a 02 WRX & thought about putting on an intake. I've heard many people advise otherwise. Do you notice anything different besides sound? BTW, you won't do any damage to your new car, but when you clean/oil the filter don't oil it too much.
  7. are you talking about this site? I don't think there is anything older then 96 though.
  8. Is the dragon open in the winter? I'd like to try out my new wagon.
  9. better not count on me. now that school has started i have no money & have to work on saturdays. It would be nice to get out of the city though. That area is SOOOO nice!! I heard about an interest in going to Uwharrie on the Forester board. I'll call in sick to see that! But there is so much to do in the Pisgah NF. The last time i was headed up there in my Jeep for a 4x4 trip the motor blew up and my buddy broke his shock mount on his CJ7 on the trail.
  10. There are a few that I know a/b out east. There is Uwharrie NF that has lots of good trails to ride on. I haven't seen a subaru out there yet! When I was at NCSU there were a few trails we used to ride on. Is anybody up for a group ride?
  11. I'm getting 25mpg on average in my auto 97' 2.5L OB. And that is city driving. But it still isn't running right.
  12. I have a 93 Loyale with a 3spd Auto. It has the speedo cable connected on top. Maybe someone messed with it before you got it.
  13. I've heard stories of guys out on the NC coast getting caught by the tides and watching their vehicle swept out by the ocean, but never seen it. I laughed, but I can't - that might be me someday. It was a good thing you risked it and grabbed some shots before you almost lost it to the sea.
