  1. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate, but also deals aren't an every day thing you can count on. Personally I have started my own collection of wagons and for $200 I'd get it.
  2. I came into some free stuff via craigslist a couple days ago, I think I made out well myself, got 3 mid to late 80's EA81 motors a couple of tranny's and other misc parts, oh and a whole 82 wagon with running engine for free. Anyway, I was wondering if there is a way to tell visually the difference between the 4spd and 5spd tranny? Thanks. John
  3. Hello Jerry,

I was referred to you by a member in the forum. He told me you sell rebuilt Weber 32/36's, and the parts I would need to get my 81 EA81 Weberized. Please contact me at your convenience to discuss a possible purchase. Thank you,

    John

  4. GD good info as always! What's a good source for used Weber's? And Shipping kills me living here in AK! Sometimes I can work a trip to the lower 48 to get much needed parts with no shipping charge.
  5. I want to try one, but at $300+ is a hard pill to swallow for a rig that you have less than a grand into.
  6. Thanks EDRACH, That's the link I was looking for. Any takers on Question 2?
  7. Hello all, Question 1. Are you guys still using the weber carb conversion, and are there instructions on the board for it, I've searched but can't find? Question 2. I was thinking about grinding down the lip on the inside of the intake where it attaches to the heads. Would this be a mistake or would it improve air flow? Thanks in advance, John
  8. Body I pulled it out of is an 81, so from what you guys are telling me, I think the engine is not the original. What do you think?
  9. Good points, thanks. These holes are on either side of the exhaust port on the under side of the heads. I would have never thought about the different size valves. I just thought an EA81 was an EA81 and so on. I guess I can presume that the engine with out the extra bolts is probably not the original, as a wild guess. Thanks guys.
  10. Hello All, I found this wealth of information site a little while ago, but haven't gotten around to speaking much yet. Done a lot of reading though. I have an 81 s/w that I'm working on getting to DD status. Live in Fairbanks, AK. The avatar pic was my first Suby (I should have never sold her) but will post pics of the new one when I get around to it. Hopefully sooner than later. Anyway, I like what I've read here, and look forward to learning new stuff from you guys and maybe even assisting some folks with some stuff I may figure out along the way. Again looking forward to chatting with everybody. Cheers, John
  11. Hi, I'm new to USMB. Please forgive if I longwinded, I don't have all the lingo down yet. Here's the story. I'm re-ringing an EA81 for low compression in the #4 cylinder, when I pulled off the heads I saw it has cracks between the intake and exhaust valves on one of the heads. I saw a post for the EA82 mentioning this isn't a big deal and you can have them staked. Is this true for the EA81 as well, or do I need to start looking for new heads? Also, I have another EA81 that the heads and block have bolt holes (on the lower side 12 mm bolt heads) that are not on the other heads or block. Is this normal? Could I use these heads (w/ extra bolt holes) on the block without them, and vise versa? Thanks in advance, John.
  12. The cracks between the intake and exhaust valves, are these not a big deal on an EA81's either? Also I have two EA81's and on one there are to smaller bolts on the underside of the heads (10mm bolt heads, attachment bolts) which the other does not have. Both engines came out of 81 GL's. Is this normal? Thanks.
