  1. anyone know of any good places to look out for turbo legacys being sold? found this on craigslist http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/cto/1765786965.html not to far away i couldnt drive a few hours but to expensive for my cash pool as of yet
  2. generaldisorder- ive been kind of thinking down the lines your coming from. I do have some money (like a grand or so) and after looking at costs and such i do have to say i would probably be better off in the end just buying a turbo legacy. with the money i have i have a good start at buying one and all. of course ill just keep the car i have for whatever ya know plus ill probably modify it a little for offroading but ya i need to save up a little more money atm and start looking for a deal.
  3. oh ty cobcob. hadnt seen that thread before. got some more reading to do
  4. everything is downhill where i live. at least till you get to the other side of the valley and on a second note. there is this one hill near where i live. ill stomp it down through there and in just a couple seconds im hitting over 100. im like ya baby! thats what it would be like to have a turbo.
  5. wow reddevil has been through it all with it still i think it might be feasible. just have to make sure i have engine management and to NOT get greedy with boost. need to rebuild my engine anyway before i even think about putting any FI on my car. probably be ok but ya know ill have to read more of what reddevil has done. man hes tinkered like hell with legacy.
  6. im actually toying with the idea of rigging up a supercharger on my legacy. mounting and installing and frabrication of parts to get it to mount up right wouldnt be all that bad i dont think. it would basicaly be engine management and all that would be the "slightly" more difficult part.
  7. any extra power out of my car would be nice ya know. I really would like to find a early 90s turbo legacy. there just hard to find let alone at a decent price. thanks guys.
  8. well guys you have probably had 1000 of these kinds of threads but here is another for ya I have a 1994 legacy L. and.... you guessed it! i want more power! i know anything thats done will cost money. power isnt free. just not sure exactly where i should start with my n/a engine to get more power out of it. help me out guys
  9. hey was wondering if you still had either of those cars you had posted up a while back

  10. ya you need a good air/fuel mixture gauge before you mess with your boost or you could be just giving your car a good boost to the scrap heap
  11. toe is adjustable i know. not sure on camber. and im really not to sure if its camber or toe or wth it is really thats causing the tire wear.
  12. well i need to figure out how to fix this. rotating tires isnt going to do anything except make ************ worse really. got 2 good tires on front but there wearing heavily on the inside. the back tires are worn nice and even but there pretty much slick. basicaly need to fix whatever the hells wrong so i can start rotating my tires lol. as is they dont make it that long. 15,000 miles IS the life of 1 of my tires btw, at least on the front anyway. so something worn out, messed up, etc. i put new struts in 20k miles ago. just replaced front right lower ball bearing because i noticed the whole wheel was loose. broke my sway bar and had to put a new one on. now i could see how a broken sway bar from hitting a huge hole could throw something off alignment. but both sides? something else is wrong here. just wish i knew more about this stuff. was also wondering. is camber adjustable on my legacy? i dont think it is but not 100% sure.
  13. on my 94 subaru legacy ive noticed the front tires are wearing on the inside of the tire. one side is a little worse than the other but not to much. ive had it aligned before and i even sat there and watched/helped and all with it. so i figure something is worn out because of the negative camber. just not sure what. any help here guys?
  14. well first off im a total noob when it comes to wiring and all that stuff. anyway heres my prob. (94 legacy) when i would turn on my car (i have my lights on anyway) the passenger side low beam would come on but the driver side wouldnt. now i can switch to highbeams and they always work. i would just get out of the car walk to the front and just flick the head light and it would come back on. i suspected a corroded connection on the back of the light so a friend of mine checked it out. said there was no corrosion on it and now it wont come on at all. im thinking it could be a bad wire, bad ground, or maybe its something in the low beam filiment in the bulb and he finished knocking off the filament when he checked for corrosion. im not really sure. where exactly should i start at to fix my problem? would love to get this fixed since i dont like getting pulled over. already did once so ive been staying off main roads and taking some hardcore back roads. like 4 wheeling trails sometimes lol. its fun except when it foggier than hell and i gotta use my highbeams. and on a side note having nothing at all to do with this post- dont know if its a good idea or not but i just cut the muffler off and piped it. has one hell of a growl now and i like it!
  15. didnt put any locktite on it but it SHOULDNT come out. doesnt mean it cant of course. torqued it to 250+ pounds. i really put it to it. was afraid i would break something if i went for much more.
  16. ok just figured i would give you guys a update. problem fixed! no more wobbly pully. just like you said after grinding it down(and inside of the sprocket too) the sprocket came off and i was able to put a new key in. in the end of the crank the key hole was good but it had messed my sprocket up so i had to get a new one. but after that its all good! thats my most serious problem fixed. now to work on my 4 or 5 lessers problems.
  17. probably 8 months ago or so was when the mechanic worked on it. when he did the front engine seal he also did cam oil seals and timing belt. rather just fix it myself and not even deal with him. i would probably end up doing something i would regret later if i went to talk to him. so does the key come off the crank? if so i dont think it will be a huge deal then. i have a new pulley already and im just held up by this smushed key. i dont think the crank has taken any damage but of course i really wont know till iget that key out (if it comes out)
  18. hey guys had a problem and figured yall could help me out. i have a 94 subaru legacy L. its FWD has a 2.2l engine and such. anyway got this car about 15 months ago. did a lot of work on it but my mechanical knowledge is very limited. i would like to fix my problem because this had been a great car and has never let me down and is still in good shape. ok so i had this mechanic replace the front main engine seal on it for an oil leak. fixed that but what i did not know at the time was that to do that you have to take the crankshaft pulley off. so when he put the pulley back on he did not tighten it enough. GROAN. ya i think a lot of us have been here at one time or another. so me and a buddy pull off the pulley today and find it is WRECKED. ya i expected it. had a new pulley waiting. no problem. except i have a BIGGER problem than i thought. Problem on the end of my crankshaft there is like this little sprocket like deal. Now the little nub of metal that goes in your pulley (guess i would call it the "key"?) is messed up. i didnt put the new pulley on it because i would just have more problems down the road. the key is smashed to the side pretty bad and on the bottom corner away from the direction its being pushed it looks like the metal is tearing a little bit. sorry i dont have any pictures. i would have if i had my camera but didnt work on my car at my house so that wasnt much of an option. if required i will get pictures but id rather not since its not exactly my idea of a blast crawling around under a car. Solution ya this is where you guys come in. not really sure what i can do. do i have to get a new crankshaft? does the end of the crankshaft come off or is it one peice? if anything could i just pull the crank and do some welding and machining on the key? dont know much about this and what would be the proper thing to do. thanks for any help you can give!
