4x140 SSR's???
The offset on these would probably be close to working for the FF-1, might still need a little bit of a spacer. I'm going to stick with my wheels though.

Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...
Good news! The spacers showed up today. I'll take some pics during the weekend, but they do look like they will work Bad news... I dismantled that EA63 I had sitting around, hoping that maybe I could use the pistons/liners in the EA61 block... No go Almost nothing is compatible between the two motors, just the crankshaft perhaps and thats it. I can't even use the EA61 heads on the EA63 block. So if I want to run a larger displacement motor, I'll need to find EA62 or EA63 4-port heads. But right now, its looking like i'll be rebuilding the EA61.

Ya, I see those magazines on Ebay every time I do a search. I've already downloaded a couple pic of the articles, so I figure I don't need the magazines, lol!

GSR 69kW?
Official EA63s (IE Sports model 1400's) numbers per Subarus technical specifications: Dual carbed, 93hp@6800rpms, 10.0:1 compression ratio. 93hp converts over to 69kw, so he would be correct. I can photocopy the service manual if you don't believe it...

Small update... Ed from the 360 club hooked me up with some original FF-1 tools (including a few tools I NEED for transmission/engine building, along with tools for bearing installation/removal and such)! I'm so glad I was able to find some of these, it will be a life saver for this project And I am still working on the car albeit slowly, heres a photo just to give you an idea of some of the parts i'm restoring along with whats going on with the car at this point:

What do we REALLY know about FE engines?
Well the 4x4 and FWD models from those years have different power numbers, but I'm not sure what the physical differences are. I do have the parts manuals and service manuals from the 70's if we need to cross reference something.

Anyone know where to get 1400 push rods?
From a junkyard. Thats about your only option Unless someone knows a shop where they custom make them?

No problem. I'm glad my thread can be of assistance to someone BTW, those latches have a couple of different versions, including locking or non locking, and recessed or non-recessed. I'll probably go with locking non-recessed.

Alright, time to decide on something else... Should I go with hood pins, or hood hold downs (IE the external "jeep" kind) or both? There are some good flush-mounting, locking hood pin devices out there that are intriguing. And I can mount basically anything to this hood the way its set up.

Just a FYI, I am working on the car, mostly just restoring/painting small parts right now to rebuild the suspension. In the mean time, here are a few pics i've found online recently to tide you over... Oh, and im still mulling over the wheels/tires... I'm having spacers made, but now i've discovered 195/40/16's!

Thats pretty much what I was going to do. Theres another local place called Tognottis that has more quality aftermarket bits that can help too. I figure i'll check ARP's catalog after I figure out exactly what I need.

I'm going to try and find some double sided bolts with modified washers to fill the gap. I think it should work, I just have to find the right width bolt with the right thread pattern.

I shipped one of my drums to RenaissanceMan so he can make some spacers. I'm going to try these 14's and see how they work.

Sweet car chase.
It was like a slow version of Initial-D with classic Japanese cars Awesome stuff, minus the wreck

Well now I'm starting to lean back to the 14's again, after looking closely at more pics (was going to post this earlier, but the site was down): Notice how the FRONT wheels are pretty much flush with the fender, while the rears are in quite a bit. It appears that the front suspension would work best with a +50 or +45 offset, while the rears need to be much lower, especially dealing with my suspension problem. Now I'm thinking that the spacers in the rear will even things out... This won't work with the 15" superlights since they have the same offset as the Pugs, but custom steelies I could do different offsets for front and rear (say, +45 front, +30 rear) and it would work.
