  2. Explain all the different EJ heads and what would be the better head for 2.2T.
  3. What Subaru manual transmissions will bolt right up to the EJ 2.2T? Basically, what are my options for a good manual behind the 2.2T?:cool:
  4. On your brake pads you have a squealer. Check that. Jack the car up and turn the wheels and spin them and see if you can pin point.
  5. Well you can see from the pics I got the axle off but I just got the rest of the pin out the other day. Someone had taken a solid axle pin and thought they could drive out a hollow pin. But the solid pin drove into the hollow one. It was a nightmare. I sure hope I don't have to do that again.
  6. So I just pulled the EA 81 out of my Brat and put it in my Rx so I have something to drive. I have a D/R 5 speed that I picked up about a month ago but now I am wondering if I should just put in an Awd 5 speed. I am not sure which one would be better. I want to make the Brat a nice daily driver that I may take down some dirt roads but nothing really rough. So, which is the better tranny??????
  7. Well come to find out it wasn't the starter binding. Someone, I won't mention names, told me to take the EA 81 flywheel and change the step to the EA 82. But once in, the starter was rubbing horribly on the flywheel. So I pulled the moter again and compared the EA 82T flywheel and there was a big difference. So F.Y.I, if you decide to swap motors, make sure you have the correct flywheel for the engine.
  8. So I found out that I had no power to the coil while cranking so she starts no problem but for some reason the starter is binding even after the engine is running. I changed the step to the EA 82 flywheel specs and I don't understand what is going on. The starter only goes in one way without any adjustment. I even put the starter in from my brat thinking it was the starter and it did the same thing. Does anybody have any ideas??????????
  9. Can anyone tell me what wires go where in this unit. I asked GD but I have not heard back from him and I need to know asap. I have one person saying one thing and another saying something else. I just need confirmation. So, Brat owners, come to my rescue please. Thanks guys for your help.
  10. No I have the pin driver. I bought this D/R 5 speed for my Brat upgrade. That is how I got the tranny and man what a pain in the rear..... But I thought the guys would like the pics though.
  11. It is mounted just above my distributor in my 85 Brat. It is the square thing in the pic. It looks like a relay but I was thinking it was my external resistor for my dist.
  12. This is what happens when an idiot uses something other than a right punch to remove the pin. It gets stuck and you have a nightmare to deal with.
  13. Hey, is there anyone out there that could tell me how to wire a Subaru up (EA-81 w carb) old school? I put an EA-81 into an RX. I disconnected the ECU and put in a carb style fuel pump. But I am not getting any spark. I just want to know how to wire up the car so she will start???? Can anyone help me out out there???? I am literally about to pull my hair out.
  14. So I have an EA81 in an RX. I swapped fuel pumps and put in the fuel module. I supplied a picture of the pigtail that is in the Brat. Can anyone tell me what they go to???? Top Left: 2 blues, Top Middle: Black, Top Right: 2 Blues w/ red stripe, Bottom Left: yellow, Bott. Middle: blue w/ black stripe, Bott. Right: black. I am not sure if I have the module correctly wired. And I am not getting spark. I need help asap for I am running out of time. I need my car!!!! Please help Subie Bros.
  15. So I am transferring the EA 81 into the RX and on my Brat I had this; what looks to be a resistor I believe, connected to my coil. Does anybody know what this is and how it hooks to the dist.????? Thanks
  16. So I finally got tired of the problematic EA 82 and dropped in the EA 81 into the RX. But I can not get the fuel pump to pump. Can anyone give me advice of how to wire it up using the stock relay or my own relay and bypassing the stock wiring altogether. I really appreciate the help Subie Bros. :-\
  17. So I finally got tired of the problematic EA 82 and pulled and put in my reliable EA 81. I swapped fuel pumps, fuel injection to the EA pump and I am not getting the pump to the carb. Does anyone know how to wire up the pump with the correct stock relay or I can wire my own relay, so it will start again and run as she did before????? Thanks Subie Bros. I appreciate the info. :-\
  18. I have a 4 in lift for my Brat. Now does anyone know what size Rancho shock I need? I heard if you just get a slightly longer shock you don't have to drop the bracket. Does anyone know? Thanks guys:cool:
  19. Hey guys. I have a question for you. I was reading about the Nissan Maxima alt upgrade which sounds awesome. But my question is for the ones out there with the 2.2 or 2.5 upgrade. If I am planning to upgrade to an EJ, should l not bother with the alt upgrade in my EA? If I do the upgrade, will the alt fit onto the EJ? Thanks guys. :cool:

  21. So I have a question. So lets say I find a complete donor car, 2000 or newer with a 2.5. So I put in the engine, tranny, rearend and driveline in to fit. Do I have to make custom axles to fit my 85 Brat going from stock axle to the new tranny? :-\
  22. I went to the wrecking yard today but they are closed Sun and Mon so tomorrow I will snag the 5 lug hubs. Oh and by the way, there was two XT's there. One was 4wd and the other 2wd. I am grabbing the 4wd ones.
  23. So if it was you, would you convert the Brat to 6 lug or 5 lug? I plan on putting a ej in the Brat with the ej tranny sooner or later. I will go today and see if the hubs are still there. Is the 2wd Xt parts the same as far as the front stuff? I know the rears are different because of not having an axle go through it but is the front the same?
  24. So from what I see, 6 lug is way easier. So my problem is I have to find a set of 4 lug rear rubs from a 4 wheel drive Rx, Xt, or Gl-10, right?
  25. My wife has a 2000 GT Legacy and the windshield wipers are so loud it would drive you crazy. It is as if they are bottoming out in both directions. Has anybody ran into the same thing and if so, what can I do to fix this nuisance?
