I have had 2 90 legacies where the horn wouldn't work, for me it was just the relay. Are you positive you have the right relay cause I know the relay I replaced was behind the fuse box under the dash on the driver's side...and what is a clock spring?

yea, I only tweeked it a little, and marked it so I can reset it.

I probably shouldn't have but I adjusted the idle screw, at least that should get me safely home...probably the TPS needs to be replaced

no EGR on 90 but I am pretty sure it has an IAVC, I will check hoses

90 leg 2.2 5 speed. Car won't idle, was running fine, pulled up to a stop light and it dies, restarted just fine but I had to sit on the throttle to keep it idling...where do I start? MAS, TPS, IACV? other parts to check?? Thanks

ya she has put in the miles...here is another tid bit, it only idles like this once the engine has reached operating temperature.

Ugh.....another problem, this is getting old. 90 leg 2.2 manual 364K miles. so here is the issue, when stopped the car idles between 100rpm-900rpms. Up and down up and down. At one point it did die but started back up. No CEL I have recently replaced Knock sensor, fuel filter, plugs, wires, and PCV. Any thoughts...

I miss the CEL coming on...NOT!

actually it was the control unit, replaced with one from the bone yard and voila, all vents are working:clap:

Does anyone have a good link to troubleshooting the A/C in a 90 legacy. The compressor would run but all that came out was hot air.

I hope this is the same for a 90 legacy cause I am going to see what I can find behind the control unit. B

I just bought a knock sensor from ebay for my 90 legacy for 13.00...if you don't mind waiting a couple days, ebay is worth the savings. Autozone had them priced for 45 or so.

I have someone telling me in another forum that the knock sensor shouldn't be moved because it won't sense knock as well, if at all and could cause damage. Any thoughts

90 leg 2.2, I just replaced the knock sensor, however, I did not put it back where it came. I found a bolt hole up and just towards the firewall that was easy access. So I mounted it there. Seems to me all the knock sensor needed was good contact to the block, so basically it could go anywhere the wire would reach. Is this right? B btw...knock sensor was in bad shape. split housing rusty...yuk

oh bloody hell and f' me running....I replaced all of the plug wires and it is running fine....

thanks for that, I was going to replace the temp sensor as well since it is only a couple bucks

got all of the plugs to stay in, still running like crapola. I hate to start throwing parts at it and seeing what sticks. i did pull a couple codes off but I don't know how old they are...temp sensor, knock sensor, mass air...however, it has overheated in the past and I did have the mass air flow disconnected one time so I would expect those codes to be on...maybe need to replace knock sensor and plug wires. It really is a strange problem cause sometimes it will run just fine but then mash the pedal and...sputter sputter...any help is appreciated as always.
