  1. Found a picture of my 1993 EUDM Legacy Wagon. It left the factory with FWD and EJ18 with single point FI, I swapped in the drivetrain of a EUDM Legacy 4WD Turbo (EJ20G with VF12). With VOS chip (and loud exhaust) it produced close to 290 hp. Action footage:
  2. I'm sorry to raise a thread from the dead, but here are two wagons I owned: The BF5 one with a JDM 2.0 DOHC AVCS engine swap, now sold for parts: My current daily driver: It has a high compression EJ22 DOHC with custom made forged pistons and JDM engine mangement allowing to rev the engine to 7.2k rpm... And it makes decent power too! I will have to search for some pics of my BF5 with swapped EJ20G engine...
  3. Nice. So now I don't need to find a EA81 dash with speed sensor for my project
  4. OK so the plans are shaping up nicely... All suspension parts (and wheels) will have to stay within the standard width body. To accomodate the Legacy III rear suspension (not subframe) I will have to cut away the rear floor between the chassis rails and weld in new sections. This will also make it possible to mount the battery nice and low between rear seats and rear axle on the left side, and the ABS pump (yes, ABS pump) on the right side. WIll start the sketches this week. I'm looking forward to this project!
  5. Thanks for all the DOs and DON'Ts I will keep them in the back of my mind. I will still have to check feasibility of my plans once I have the car in my garage and the original rear setup removed. I will soon post an initial sketch of what I want to do exactly...
  6. A friend owns a Dutch 1988 Loyale 1.8 4WD (EA82 carb, D/R tranny) and recently swapped in a complete 1990 Legacy 2.2 AWD driveline in. I helped with the wiring and supplied the DOHC engine parts. He took pictures of the process and vids of the result. Mods: 1990 EJ22E with JDM EJ20H DOHC heads (and matching pistons) 1990 EJ22E 5-MT with 3.900 final drive to match EA 3.900 rear diff (standard EA82 front axles) 1990 EJ22E stripped wiring loom with ECU Shortened propeller shaft Welded up tranmission mount Modified stock EA82 exhaust Modified radiator in- and outlets to match EJ hoses Walbro universal fuel pump Oh and it goes like stink (turn sound up)
  7. That's the rear coil over of a Legacy III/IV.... Just use the EA82 top mount...
  8. I don't agree. The Legacy III/IV suspension is also used on the Impreza III and is urguably the better setup. Besided that, since it is relatively shallow, it fits the Hatch body better than the strut setup. I already have used hubs/arms including brakes and axles on order from Japan and I've got factory service manuals with the measurement point for both that Legacy and the Hatch, so I should be able to design a subframe which fulfills all my requirements. And don't worry, I will take pics
  9. As I'm going to use a custom subframe I will make it less wide, hence reducing the track width. I will also have to shorten the drive shafts. Regarding ride height, I hope I will find a solution for that along the way...
  10. I would like to fit the rear suspension of a Legacy III/IV (BE/BH/BL/BP-series) on my '82 Hatch. I know will need to design/build a new rear subframe, but I want to carry over all other parts like coilovers, hubs and all suspension arms. I just wonder if somebody already did some research in this direction or if I'm going to be guinee pig...
  11. Hi Maybe if I tell I'm from The Netherlands it will ring some more bells By the way, the hatch is being traded against two EJ20 turbo engines including split wiring looms. My friend is going to fit them to his Brat and his Loyale.
  12. I was a member of USMB many, many years ago (2000-2003) and lost contact due to the arrival of a Legacy to replace my L-series and XT back then. I still own a pair of Legacy's now, but I'm getting excitedly close to owning a 1982 Hatch EA81 4WD! I thought it would be appropriate to register again! The Hatch I might be able to take over from a friend needs tender, love and care - lots of it, actually - and a new drivetrain as it is sans engine and tranny. Luckily the current owner already modified the chassis rails to accomodate a DOHC EJ-series engine, which is exactly what I intend to install - if the deal gets done. I've got a lot of other technical niceties planned (obviously a 5-lug conversion but not like any other you have seen I think) but I will elaborate once I have the car in my garage - which reminds me, I will have to throw away a lot of junk/parts to make space for it!
