  1. Are you suggesting that i trim the wiring harness with motor and everything still in the donor vehicle? instead of pulling everything from donor vehicle THEN trimming? TIA
  2. So i finally think i have found a donor car for te EJ swap. (https://albuquerque.craigslist.org/pts/d/albuquerque-1995-subaru-legacy-parting/6883043174.html) Talked to the guy and he said that the motor runs strong and the only thing wrong is ball joint and axle so it wont drive. Think im gonna give it a look tomorrow. (anything i should look for?) I read Numbchux write up on the EA2EJ and i just have a question about the brakes. In the write up it did not mention anything about the brakes or hookup, is it pretty self explanatory once i get to that point? Thanks guys for all your guidance, its seeming more and more like a reality!
  3. Hello all! First of all i work 2 jobs and go to school constantly and looking through page after page on my phone in a rush is very tedious. so any links or guidance would be very appreciated. i currently have a 1993 loyale sedan ea82 5spd D/r I have finally put all the pressure on myself to get my Ej swap done this year. Im just curious, where is a good place to look for an EJ22? How much would it cost me to rebuild if i found a high mileage one? one other thing that Im not sure of is finding or making a wiring harness. one last thing i am wondering is front axles and cross member, does anything need to be modded? other than that i plan on getting the adapter plate from ADF along with the 2 inch lift (possible 4 inch just need to look into steering shaft extension) Any links to threads that will help me out will be greatly appreciated or hacks that you have while you did your EA82 To EJ22 Swap. Thank you again, as being a student with two jobs is tedious....I have to complete this goal...TIA..
  4. What an awesome car! congrats on the swap! Do you have a build thread for it? looking at doing my swap this year, just have no idea where to start! lol
  5. Thats what I was thinking however its happened twice on two separate occasions. I took out the motor and trans and dropped them in car separately. I thought I may have adjusted the throttle cable to high but realized quick that no fuel would get sent in with out the fuel pump being active, right? , how would I test the injector/ Pressure for EA82s? Thank you!
  6. 1993 Subaru Loyale D/R Swap EA82 Hey guys after doing my D/R swap I finally got a carrier mount bearing welded up. After a couple of days I went to start it and after a couple of seconds on cranking it I smelled gas BAD so I looked under and noticed gas was puking out of my motor exhaust manifold into the exhaust. Also only on the driver side. I just want to get this car running so I can make sure the swap is working so I can move to EJ. Im guessing a cylinder is dead? I checked plugs and they seem fine. anyone have this happen or want to educate me on whats happening? and the proper steps to correcting? Thanks! -493
  7. (93 loyale sedan 5spd d/r swap) I finally have some free time to work on the roo, I have yet to make a mount for my carrier bearing. I have had an idea to cut to pieces of steel & have one going from one end of the mount to the flat surface, than drill through the floor board. However I don't think this will suffice for my liking. So, USMB what have you created for your carrier mount bearings for your d/r swap? Pics would be greatly appreciated. TIA -493
  8. Thanks for the weber information!!! Highly considering it, especially since the tune up kit didnt do much at all :/
  9. So my loyale is going the exact same thing! I just purchased a carb tune up kit with all the gaskets and everything I'm hoping it works! Also how many vac lines go into the manifold 2 or 3? Joe it works out for ya!
  10. Are you talking about the ones next to the lower part of the battery?? I had to zip tie those together, theyre dam near impossible to snap together, do i really have to squeeze them together that hard? Or is there some special technique? Haha. the car idles now with lots of starter fluid just wont hold a strong idle. Thinking about re doing the fuel injection o ring, heard that could cause this issue as well..
  11. Thanks for all the positive posts everyone, you're all the jam. So an update is in the good is; Got the trans stabbed and bolted up. Axles are in and car is running. Bad update is; its running and driveable however, as soon as it hits idle it dies. But if I can keep on the gas little by little it will drive. Clutch needs adjusting for sure. Other than those things its okay and just little things from here. If y'all wanna see pics of this son of a gun you can check out my instagram @____493
  12. Oh awesome! I had a buddy tell me that you could manually move it. Thought id ask the pros! Thanks guys as soon as I put the axles in I will let ya'll know how it is
  13. Okay awesome thanks for all the advice. My buddy and I out everything together, just hopefilly one more question, I went to move the fork back with my hand and its dam near impossible to move it back manually. However moves fine with my clutch pedal. I thought you could move the clutch fork by hand if needed? Does this mean I messed up somewhere??? TIA.
  14. Touchè. I am watching Miles Fox's channel right now. I am about to walk over to the shop and start wrenching. I will let ya'll know how it goes tonight. Thanks for the help!
  15. Thanks for the replys everyone. I was thinking about drilling through the floorboard I just didn't think it would be stable enough? I'm trying to get it running within a night or two and driveable by mid week. The Subaru is out side my buddy's garage so I have most tools, but short on hands because he works full time. I have all the stock parts but they are some 45 miles away ans no way of getting to them. Does anyone have some pictures of a carrier mount bearing mount bracket so I can get some ideas??
  16. I have my 1993 Subaru loyale dual range swap. Was taking my time on it however my truck got hit and totaled, Im moving to Colorado in a couple months and have no vehicle except for the broken loyale. Unless I get this woirking asap I'm out of work. All I need know is how I can successfully stab the transmission to the motor by myself?? Its just me doing this. Also since the swap I have not welded my carrier mount bearing what's the best way to weld it in the driveshaft tunnel? Thanks for all the help!!
  17. Sorry finally got the video to be public, youtube was giving me problems. and th D/R lever IS in between hi and lo and i cannot get it out, I even lifted the rear end of the car....
  18. Here is the video I took earlier. Sorry the car is loud the full exhaust isn't on.
  19. 1: about three weeks ago, my buddys helped me with it and finally ajusted it good and 2 yes 4x4 is in between hi and lo but i cannot get it out for the life of me! It starts perfectly fine, dies immediately, I might be able to post a video...
  20. So sorry if I might have a couple noob questions but i barely have any time to sit down and rest let alone time to do massive amounts of research, Long story short; 93 loyale 5sp d/r swap. Clutch works, pedal has enough spring to it, last time took it for a test drive and clutch completely gave out (so it seems) once car is in any gear and clutch is let out car will not move at all! And just today it will not run, will start it but will die immediately. any help would be GREATLY appreciated, again so sorry for noob questions. Conflicting work schedule is making me tight for time....
  21. I took my engine out to re do all gaskets belts..ext
  22. Of course its possible But do you think it would be worth it in the end? I just have pretty much the shell of a 89 GL wagon and im thinking....Why not turn it into an STI Ive only seen one other GL swapped with STI everything and have not been able to find the person who built it...unless they are on here somewhere
  23. Got my engine in the air today and took off my covers (did not get it all the way out unfortunately AC is a lot harder to take off) Any ways I found that the belts didnt snap....now I dont know what else to look for as appose to why my engine wont start.... ps whats the best way to do body work on these sheet metal bodys? (besides a rubber mallet of course)
  24. Very true.... Wouldn't they wear out fast though or can the seals last A WHILE with some four wheeling abuse living in the mountains??
  25. Just a thought.. Running with no covers wouldn't my bearings,cam.. ext be a high risk even in snowy/ muddy conditions or does that not matter??
