1979 Subaru GL Wagon. my options?
uggyea81 replied to uggyea81's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Ok, how do i go about fixing the front struts? i've searched everywhere to no avail. ideas on that? -
Hello everyone, first off i would like to say this forum has helped me out so much with my gen 1. anyways the question i pose is : i have a 79 gl wagon with 169,xxx miles runs amazingly well. the only problem i have is that i do a lot of freeway driving and the 4 speed isn't cutting it not to mention the front struts are shot. What are my options? I do have a 1993 impreza with a ej18 along with a ej22 and a ej25. do i swap everything over? drive train, suspension, brakes and sell the shell? can it be done? The impreza was bought with no title and i'm having trouble getting it. Your guys thoughts?

Gen 1 wagon wheel bearing and carb questions
uggyea81 replied to uggyea81's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
i thank all your guys for your input! whats sad is i work at autozone and i can't use my discount on any parts for my brat or my wagon. oh well. i had one more question might have to make another post for it, but here it goes... how hard would it be to swap the running gear from a 1981 ea81 brat into my 1979 dl wagon? the brat was rear ended and i can't repair it any further -
hey guys, I picked up this 1979 4wd wagon from Sandy,Or about a month ago. the interior is amazing! some rust one the bottom of each door. anyways i digress... the issues : front driver wheel bearing is grinding, how hard is it to replace? and second is the car hesitates when i step on the gas hard, if i ease into it, its fine. thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated

so i pulled the valve cover this morning. and poured water in to the rad. and guess where the water came out?! thats right, the back freeze plug! still have to pull the motor to get to it. but a lot cheaper fix -

i thought as much. bought a head gasket set on rockauto. i really hope it fixes it -
I just bought a 81 gl wagon. bought it knowing it had a leak. i drained the milkshake out of the oil pan and filter and put new oil and filter and ran it with nothing in the rad. (it was 23 degrees out) it ran great! turned it off and started putting coolant in it. rad would not fill up, but the oil dip stick did... and i can hear water running near the right head when i was trying to fill it. sure enough water in the oil. is this just a head gasket leak? or worse?
