  1. I'm thinking the steering rack, or maybe even the shaft from the steering wheel to the rack might be binding
  2. It's possible that the cable fixed the issue before but now your clutch or throw out bearing maybe shot
  3. Thanks, I get compliments all the time from people who used to have one, or have an EA82 wagon but like mine...and some people who could care less that just ask about it because they never knew Subaru made a 3 door hatch. I do wish there were more hatch owners on here. I have seen 5 others around Spokane. One is the same color as mine, but has no clear coat and is horribly sunfaded One was Bright red but has same sunfade issues as the other one One is gold and smells like a wet dog when you walk by it One is Brown and looked like it was on fire at one point. One you can't tell what color it is suposed to be because the paint has been pushed off from underneath by the rust.
  4. it's been great...and actually handled the climb and decent with no protests.
  5. wow, Looks great. I am getting all sorts of ideas for what to do with my 86 hatch to fix its few minor rust issues. I need to work on them before I move back to Omaha. Letting a PNW car rust out in the midwest would just be sinful.
  6. Very neat. How do these cars handle (especially the older GL's) around town? Do they feel unsteady when you hit something like a bump at hwy speeds? My 86 kicks around alot but I would think that 27-33" tires would absorb alot more than the little 13" tires I have now.
  7. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.219053711438996.65062.100000031066067&l=20b3fd35f4 I decided to do an impromptu photo shoot on my way back down Mt. Spokane. I think she really looks in her element, you know in the mountains...but still on a paved road.
  8. Hey guys, Sorry I abandoned this post. Shortly after my last posting my hours were dramatically cut at work so I've been spending the past few months focusing on job hunting. Add in my wife leaving me, well... talking about my Subaru has been the last thing on my mind. I've spent about 5 months with this car and I love it. It has started leaking some oil. Not bad but needs to be fixed soon. Also I have noticed my fuel economy drop from 28-30 down to 25ish as the weather has warmed up. I think instead of having the current carb tuned I'm just going to hunt for a good price on an webber and do that this summer. Mostly just needs some tuneup work and a few other minor fixes.
  9. I read a lot about a restoration that was done buy a guy in europe on a mid 80's supra. Alot of cars from the 80's have epoxy that seals seams inside and out. Often that will crumble off. So you can reseal those seams with new epoxy, use rust converter on any surface rust, repaint it and then put a good undercoating on the bottom of the car and it will be better than it came from the factory. My fuel tank looks like it is coated...but with the melting snow/rain we have been getting I have not scooted much further under the car yet. If its not coated I will probably have the local line-x undercoat it. I plan to do what I can...but it will be a long process.
  10. Tonight we were going to the get some supplies to prepare us for bringing home our puppy. We took my wifes kia because the box for the crate would not fit in the hatch back. My son was so dissapointed that we did not take the Subaru that he started screaming and crying...and pointing at my car while we were driving away.
  11. I will have to look into the flofit seats I would be open to that. I have a pretty good feeling that it was garage kept because it had a pretty thick layer of dust on the roof when I went to check it out. I also think it was parked in the shade all day when it was taken out. I think I will have the windows tinted because my work does not have a single bit of shade in the parking lot and I worry that this summer may start the fade process.
  12. I'd like to keep it as original as possible and I'd rather not have to swap all my seats out because the back seat has vinyl on it too. This is honestly the only tan interior I have ever liked. Most of them just look gross to me but this has that mid 80s class that modern cars lack.
  13. do what you gotta do to keep it working. Ask a mid 80's Maxima or 300ZX owner about what its like to have a dash not working just because its old and you will be happy to do the alternator swap.
  14. I like your digital dash. I'm amazed it still works. Seems like your car is pretty well loaded for an entry level Japanese import from the 80's
  15. And last: (thought these deserved there own post) Sticker on drivers side door: Sticker on upper right hand side of the windshield: How many of you still have those stickers on your car?
